they stated last time it was up they where not intending on putting an lfg system up -.- how kitten that might be…. really kittening stupid.
They will. I have seen every new MMO that released without one eventually give in and put one in. People will cry and scream on the forums about community but it will happen. They almost made it a must with the stupid fractal levels unless they changed that. I haven’t logged into my account for a while.
While I do appreciate what the developers of the LGF website did I would rather just have it in game with a simple queue, “ready” button and bam you are in the dungeon. Yes. I’m lazy and don’t want to “work” after work.
Wanting to come back to the game but not until there is a dungeon finder. Any news yet?
Complaining about adding content? Seriously? Who are you?
Well the Fractals were added content and we see how well that went.
A lot of patches that destroyed the future of certain MMOs had “content”
I understand you are excited about the fact you added jumping to your sequel, but for the love of God can you get over it already?!?!?!?
Well we do also have a snowball fight game, a music game, and a whole bunch of other stuff coming. I would hardly say that we’re “stuck on it.”
Shouldn’t reply to bitter trolls who don’t know how to do jumping puzzles. I think the whole event is off to a great start. Everything available to us is incredibly fun!
Who said I didn’t know how to do it? I liked platformers when that was all there was to choose from on my 8 bit system.
I do appreciate the response of a mod without an infraction.
No Anet cares about putting all their efforts into jumping contests. Maybe approach Anet with a new Wv3 zone that focuses on PVP and jumping constantly combined, maybe they will listen then.
They are freaking stupid and the time wasted to create these stupid puzzles with every event could be used for other more you know “mmo” type stuff.
No. blablablabla
Well have fun with that jumping, pretty soon we will be able to get a plumbers hat and some suspenders for some in town clothes.
I understand you are excited about the fact you added jumping to your sequel, but for the love of God can you get over it already?!?!?!?
Heroes in GW 1 were fully customizable bots.
I like group content and I am cool with people in groups I just want it all automated and no obligation. I will try to finish a dungeon, even if it is a horrible pug, but the beauty of dungeon finders is I can leave any time I want if something RL comes up. If someone knocks on my door, I don’t have to invite them in then tell them to wait because I HAVE to play this video game for another 30 minutes.
I used to have my work schedule adjusted for Raiding and Arena years ago….. Never again……
That would be awesome! I would buy 10 more character slots just so I could kill him that many more times per day during the event
if everything was soloable for you antisocial newbs that apparently wandered into gw2 thinking it was a 1player game, then why would anyone group up for anything? if theres no incentive to team for things, then there’ll be no reason to do it and that aspect of the game will die, which will cause the community as a whole to suffer because the game wont be as social…
GW 1 was great for us “antisocial newbs”. Maybe since this was the sequel we were expecting that same kind of freedom. I could run dungeons with my heroes and pass up people looking for their next bromance. The MMO genre is changing thank God. Casuals will win because we will put more money into the game.
Once the Dungeon finder is in (which it will be), I will probably never talk to anyone in PVE again, unless it is just friendly passer by comments or going over a quick strat once we are in the dungeon.
Maybe not fun for you, but are you part of a large guild? Do you have friends in game? Do you socialize in game? Having friends is a great way to run any dungeon you want when you feel like it. I haven’t experienced any type of issues running any dungeon.
I am so sick of this response. MMOs are changing more and more thank God! I don’t want to socialize! I want to log in do the things I find fun and log out. I do not want to be obligated to take time away from RL for anything.
Guild Wars 2 was setting up to be that perfect MMO I had always been looking for. The lack of a dungeon finder from the start confused me though since everything else is automated.
I used to raid, run with groups, etc. all the time back in the day. I look back now and see how it made me obligated all the time to a video game. I like being able to afk whenever I want an not having to be committed to anything in game. Dungeons are about the biggest obligation I will make as far as non stop playing and even with that I wish I could hit a queue button be grouped and get the dungeon done.
I’m not anti social I just want to get stuff done at my speed and pace and have total control over when I can afk or just instantly log off.
I would like to add one last thing. The quote that really says it all for me and is causing the divorce with ANet…
Mike O’Brien
Hi! I’ll respond to the top part since it’s a quote from me.
Obviously the key phrase I’m going to point you to in that quote is, “if someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it”. That really is the litmus test we’ve used. That’s why, at ship, we gave better stats to exotic gear and didn’t give better stats to legendary gear.
More generally, I hope we’ve been clear that GW2 is not a game with virtually no stat progression in it like GW1 was. That’s why GW2 shipped with a higher level cap, and with a hard separation between PvE and PvP. In GW1 we never advanced the level cap through four campaigns/expansions. The game design didn’t allow for it. But GW2 was designed without those restrictions, and we’ve always expected that we will someday raise the level cap in GW2.
That’s why we’ve always said that GW2 rewards players through both progression and collection, whereas GW1 primarily rewarded through collection. Presumably players aren’t shocked that GW2 rewards through progression, since it has a level 80 cap.
I wonder if the core sentiment is more this: It’s only been two-and-a-half months! We don’t even all have exotics yet, and already you’re introducing another tier. Is this the start of a power progression curve that I’ll never be able to keep up with?
I certainly appreciate that worry. I myself don’t want a constant struggle, as exists in some other games, to keep my equipment viable.
Then we’re left with a balancing act. Some progression is ok, but pushing players onto gear treadmill isn’t ok and isn’t what the game is about.
So I would ask you to judge us by details, and not by making slippery-slope arguments. We introduced a ton of new content in November, and the sum total of new progression rewards we added to go with it provided a 5-10% stat increase in 2 of 12 slots. I hope you’ll agree that that kind of very shallow and gradual progression does not force people onto a gear treadmill.
I think it’s important for GW2 to be able to have this kind of gradual progression. Of course we made some mistakes with the way we introduced ascended gear. (See ChrisW’s answers for details.) But those are addressable issues. I don’t think they invalidate the fundamental concept that GW2 can have gradual stat progression without being a gear treadmill game.
~ MOAs a GW1 fan the part that hits the hardest is what I’ve bolded. It was not clear to me that they would conform with the standard MMO progression system and they never came out and clearly said they would as far as I have seen until now, after I’ve bought the deluxe edition of the game AND spent extra money on gems.
No big deal though, because I shall spend my time in other ways I enjoy as opposed chasing the next biggest carrot.
Wow, I missed that from the AMA interview. Everything he just stated about not wanting to bring over from GW1 were the reasons I loved GW1 so much.
People love collecting!!!!
Look at the real dollar market for some of the old vanity pets in WoW and how many people collect them.
Rift had a whole system just for collecting artifacts, I believe they were called.

I think people might be more worried about the future because what is happening right now and not what is happening right at this moment. The stats on gear will creep up in power as more pieces of ascended gear get added, unless how gear is distributed changes. Power creep is one of the most common issues within the MMORPG genre. There are multiple downsides to it. Two examples of symptoms of power creep is gated content and dividing players into tiers. There are more problems with power creep, but those two are usually the worst for when it comes to playing with others in an online game. I’ll post a video on power creep below.
I’m currently not actually playing GW2 because I’m waiting to see if the gear further creeps. I heard that the developers are trying to come up with more ways to distribute ascended gear, but actions speak louder than words, so I’m peeking at the forums once in awhile to see what ArenaNet does.
That was a great video.
Probably my number one favorite thing in GW 1 was simply just collecting the tons and tons of skills that game offered.
Anyone remember the PVXWiki and the insane amount of different builds to try?
Although I share your feelings, I would point out that there’s already a lot of threads about this subject.
The more threads the better, maybe something will be done.
There is already a game that has perfected the gear treadmill and I don’t want to play it.
This game has something truly new that it offers, I wish they would stick with it. I actually love being 80 and still having other stuff to do instead of just raiding and grinding heroics. I HATE having those as the only two options.
FOTM requires a dungeon finder. All you see in LA chat now is LFG FOTM (insert every different level here).
Horrible design, leveling an alt to catch up in 6 months is going to be hell.
Oh I forgot, I am suppose to respond with “Join a guild”
I am noticing the new mats do not have a collectible spot, items like the new passion fruit. Anyone heard if this is just going to be a late addition?
Does the whole dungeon have jumping and dodging of crap? First part was extremely annoying.
Sorry they are made for people with more than two brain cells.
I didn’t say it was over my level of thought processing, just annoying. Nice try on the assumption though. It went better later with a pug and me going as support as usual.
This dungeon screams for the implementation of some kind of lfg tool……. There is also the added bonus of the NPC that won’t shut up.
But I wanted to play GuildWars2 not Super Mario Bros.
What he said.
I have always hated platforming games. I didn’t have to do them before in other events, now it is mandatory in what is going to be the main endgame dungeon grind Anet introduced today.
I think they are so proud of their sequel having the jumping ability they are going ape kitten putting it in everything.
@Crazyeye I only run it one time (3 instances) but there is a lot of jumping (they not hard, you can take your time, and you can get revived by team mates). Just use distance weapons to kill enemies. As for dodging. This game is about dodging and there is a lot. If you talk about stairs in asura instance, as long as 3 players finish it, they can disable it for others.
.
Ah ok, well the pug I was in was having a hard time and we lost two people to them quitting. The jumping wasn’t so hard nor the ramp, but I only pug for dungeons and only run with guildies in Wv3, so I might be SOL…..

This time we get an npc next to it that wont shut up either. I was hoping for something similar to the mad realm where I could just walk in and do the events……
