I chose to play “One Path Ends”. Searching for Balthazar. Looking for White Mantle hideout on Brisbane Wildlands. It’s a large area and I don’t know where to look. What do you suggest?
My Ranger has been in every area of Heart of Thorns, and as I said, most challenges I found, but not all. That leaves me too far from my Elite. I finally got bored hunting and hunting, and just quit. And, I also ran around every map looking for challenges I might have missed.
I leveled my Revenant using the instant level 80. Now I see I will never attain the elite skill because of all the hero challenges I missed. My level 80 Ranger is two circles from elite. I’ve been all over looking for the challenges, most I got, but others I can’t find. So I stopped playing GW2 until this new release. There has to be some way to attain elite without wasting hours/days/weeks of time, and then having to give up. I was bored running around grinding with nothing new to attain. I don’t enjoy PvP, so I’m PvE only.
Yes, NCSoft does have something to do with GW2, with DigitalRiver. I received refunds from DigitalRiver when I contacted NCSoft support about my unknown charges.
I checked my NCSoft account and it doesn’t even list GW3 or Heart of Thrones. I did find a way to email them with my information, so I will follow through with that.
Thanks for the extended information. I will check NCSoft again. Two days ago when I checked, I couldn’t find my game information. I am playing B&S, but only for a week. So that can’t be the charge I’ve experienced for three months. The charge correlates with my downloading Hearts of Thorns. That’s why I ask if there is a subscription to that expansion.
I am being charged $10.72 a month by NCSoft. The only NCSoft game I’m playing is GW2. I am trying to trace this down further, hence the post in this forum. I’m waiting for an answer from support. I will put a stop payment if necessary.
No to all of the above.
I’m receiving a monthly charge. I don’t remember there being a monthly charge. Is it standard?
Look at the map. I’ve been all through Silverwastes and HoT, just not the large area north of that, called the Maguuma Wastes. Perhaps that’s just the area west of Dry Top, and not fully open yet to game play.
Mine is 15. What does it mean?
Do you have to go through Dry Top to get to Maguuna Wastes? I’ve been all through Maguuna (HoT) south of the wastes, and no way to go north. I can’t figure out even how to use the “lights” to go through Dry top.
Also, in Silverwastes, there is a small area to the north that I can’t figure out how to get into.
I got into the Motormouth run the first time I entered Dragon’s Stand. I got to see that huge lizard, pretty awesome. But towards the end, I crashed to desktop. When I logged back in, I was still on that island, but everyone was gone, including MM. It’s not something I would want to do often, too much time involved.
I’d really like to know how anyone can do the HP in a few hours. Bah! I’m working toward Druid and have 3 icons left to go. I’ve been everywhere in HoT, including Dragon’s Stand, but some HP I just can’t get to, or can’t find. And I’ve spent weeks trying to do this. I’m very frustrated.
Thank you! Let’s see, 15 now?
Can someone who knows, please tell my how to enter that area?
I can’t even get back into Prized Possessions, now. I don’t know how I did it before.
Thanks. I didn’t know you could take someone with you into your storyline. I will try once more, but after about an hour, I get fed up.
Story journal
I have three new abilities and finally got over the thorn barrior. But now getting attacked, especially by tendrils. I can’t get away from them when trying to jump where the npc is. I simply can’t do it. I tried for an hour, finally lost, to have to start over. Does this mean I can’t finish my storyline? I’m sincerely bummed about this.
I only found one Hero’s point on the WvW map.
I’m doing the story line: “In Their Footsteps”. I’m at glide over to Scout Acan. But I’ve glided all directions and can’t find him. Is this story broken at this point?
Kubishai, agreed. I spend hours running around looking for the way to get to Heroes. I have many of the north points in Heart of Thorns, so the hero trains don’t work for me. Now I’m south, and it’s worse down here.
There should be more ways for casual players to earn those points, besides PvP or WvW that is.
And, I can’t follow my story line. It got messed up somehow
This elite specialization, getting the hero points, Is getting darned frustrating.
Thanks to all for the replies.
I’m in Heart of Thorns, and can seldom find, or get to, the places for Hero and Mastery points. I have gliding and bouncing mushrooms. Sometimes the areas I need to get to are below, and I see now way to get there, except suicide trying to get down there.
Is there some step I’m missing, some tips or hints others can offer me?
Nevermind. I am level 80.
Thanks for reply. How do you get from level 70 to 80? And Hero points?
Thank you. (and more for 15 spaces.)
At what level can I do this, and how?
I see equipment in the game meant for Druid. So I bought a new character slot. Did I lose my $10? I see no way to make a Druid. What’s going on?
This article was some help. But even here, they claim not enough information.
I have no idea what I’m doing except running around killing stuff. Is there a guide to follow? My experience bar is full, but no guide to what I should do next. It’s frustrating to not feel like I’m advancing. The masteries, I need a guide for that, too. How important is it to finish ALL of them? I don’t craft, for example. I feel now like I wasted my $50.
What if you have no interest at all in crafting, so no interest in unlocking the mastery?
Ok, I think 15 minute wait is a bit too much. So I logged out, er windowed out.
I can’t log into it. But forum is very slow now too. So perhaps it’s just a matter of time.
Do I have to download and install the entire game again? I already have GW2 installed.
I was considering Revenant. Wouldn’t I have to start anew?
Now do I have to install the entire game all over again? I still have GW2 on my computer, but logging in doesn’t include the expansion.
Thanks.\ for the information.
I’m a casual player and need to know if solo is still viable. Thanks.
I didn’t think about that, thanks. I will check on it.
My Ranger Lightning Reflexes slot skill keeps recharging and I can’t remove it or replace it. I can’t play the game until this is fixed.

The Guild
There are times, too many, when I don’t get credit for dodging. And then it surprises me when I gain credit because I was fighting and not paying attention to my dodges. And I do dodge a lot. Maybe I’m not doing it right. The only dodge that works for me is hitting Z, which I have setup for my double backward dodge, and I don’t get credit for it. My directional keys don’t always work; I can’t trust them so I don’t use them for dodging. I’ve tried using the dodge on the health circle, but that doesn’t give me credit either. Frankly, I don’t know what does give me credit.
I guess I call it grinding when I have to go that much out of my way to do dailies. When I was just gathering, I found the resources as I went along just playing my game.
This is old now for some of you. but it’s now getting on my nerves.
I’m not getting the dailys now that they have changed it. They want too much stuff to do, so I’m missing out on extra karma now. I’m very unhappy about this. I did fine with the gathering. Now, I get up to about 80% done. I either don’t dodge enough, or craft enough. I have to go out of my way to do far too much of this. Boo on that. That just seems so wrong, having to die multi to get the jug. I’ve tried different kinds of dodging, so I guess the only kind that works is dodging the red circles. I don’t find that many of them either.
This is grinding.
This is just my opinion, of course.
The only problem now is that players that started the game are high level, so starting alts can be harder to level. So much depends on the events, and they are harder to do without enough players. I’m leveling a Mesmer and I’ve had to pass up most events because there wasn’t anyone to do them with. You can usually tell which ones you can do with one or two other players. Some have tough bosses.
There are quests, of course, but you can’t do them twice. This leaves you looking for quests in areas you prefer not to quest in, or you try to go on to higher quests that you may not be able to do. That was why I was hoping Anet would add more quests for areas in the level 60s and 70s. It’s badly needed.
Also, many people have already quit, even in our guild. It’s a game you can always go back to, so perhaps in the future Anet will add needed balancing for fewer players in the harder areas. When you reach level 80, you can still do events with lots of people, but I don’t find them very productive. I’m not into achievements.
Players who like achievements are the ones who will benefit from the latest patch, plus people who have regular groups for the dungeons. There isn’t a good system yet for finding people to group with. That part has really disappointed me because our guild wasn’t large enough to create more than one group. I should say, not enough members continued to play.
This is sad because the game has so much potential, so perhaps Anet will figure it out.
It isn’t the achievements or gear that interest me.
I want to see more quests for players in their 60 and 70 levels. I’ve leveled two characters to 80, and working on two others, but dread the areas I have to level in now. Of course, it doesn’t help that there aren’t enough other players in the areas to do the events. I’ve had to pass up so many events that could have helped me level.
I know Anet is trying to find things to do for players so they will continue to play. And some may like the new ideas for achievements. But I think they are missing the mark of what is needed. There is so much to like about GW2 that is hard to find in other games. But there are so many other games, and new ones all the time, to pull in players. It’s hard for any game to keep enough players. So probably one of the main reasons so many people want to solo. Why play an MMO if you want to solo? Many reasons. You still have that feeling of other players being involved, and occasionally you can even find groups if there are enough players for the events.
Was there a rollback about an hour ago? Areas I’ve covered are no longer showing, and waypoints.
It’s about time someone posted the reality of this game’s economy. I hate grinding and Anet promised no grinding. They may be trying to control the economy, but many of us are finding it very discouraging just to try to stay afloat. We want/need good gear. Where’s the fun in being poor all the time. If Anet doesn’t want us buying gold from gold sellers, then FIX the economy!
