Hey, somebody up there claimed they had to repair armor from jumping deaths. That person is a liar.

They meant in the Mad King Dungeon, not the Clock Tower.

Since I still see Josh is reading this thread, I’ll add my 2, not so important, cents.

So, after reading the thread where Josh Foreman was speaking out about the design and what not, I decided I’d come post here.

I, personally, thoroughly enjoyed the puzzle. To all the human players complaining about not being able to see, I use the shortest Asura model possible, and one of the smaller body types. I fill your pain, but I like the extra challenge it added. It took me approximately 1.5 hours to master it, and I have since completed it well over 20 times (all on my Asuran). I’m good at these puzzles, so I understand I am not the norm, but I definitely don’t believe doing it as a human was hard. It took me all of ten minutes to do it on my wife’s human (was waaaaay easier, both because of the model size and the camera (personally, though, I don’t see why people complain about the camera, I’ve never had troubles with it, so I may be missing something?)).

I’m not trying to turn this into a “I’m better than you” post, but I just want to make the point that most of the complaints, albeit semi-valid, can be overcome, and if the items that are causing the complaints weren’t there….I would have hated the puzzle, it would have simply been too easy.

Also, please don’t make them instanced. I love racing other players farming the trick or treat bags. Made a few friends this way, too (always fun to make fun of each other when we made stupid mistakes and fell to our demise ).

Anyhow, the Clock tower was by far my favorite part of the Halloween content. I hope to see more stuff like this in the future.

P.S. Josh Foreman, I think you did an excellent job with this, so please don’t discredit your design choices. There may have been slight issues, but overall it was a magnificent way for me to waste away my night

This book event is / was glitched on Yak’s Bend. It is really frustrating to have to switch to another server to do an event that only last for a few days…..Especially since now I am stuck in the other server for 24 hours.

Thanks…..

Ok. So, the only thing that I can tell you is absolutely different when I’ve had this happen is the color of the word “immune.” If only happens when the word is white. I know, this seems like a completely stupid point, but right now, until friends get on so I can do dungeons, it is the best I have.

Hey Jeffrey, thanks for the reply. I’ve noticed it when fighting champions in the dungeon. Let me do some more tests so I can provide more appropriately details.

I just thought about something how I know Blinding Powder is a bug. If I use it out of combat, or when I am not near any enemy, it will stealth me and any allies around me. If this is the case, it surely means it is always supposed to stealth me; unfortunately, it seems the when the enemy is immune to the blinding (which happens first), it cancels the stealth action.

First, I’m posting this in the bug category, because I feel like it is a bug; however, if it was meant to be this way by design, please push this to the suggestion thread….

There are multiple skills, Cloak and Dagger, Blinding Powder, maybe one or two more, that are supposed to inflict a condition on an enemy and stealth you. If the foe is immune to the condition, you won’t actually stealth. I guess this is semi-OK for the dagger skill, but Blinding Powder can be used in an offensive or defensive scenario. The fact that you may not get stealthed by it seems like a bug to me.

Also, if a user stealths, and an enemy starts an attack that auto-targets you….I would think, being in stealth, and moving from where the enemy last saw you, should make it miss; unfortunately, that isn’t the case either.

EDIT: Please read my reply, adds additional insight

Thanks.

Boss Fights, No healing class, is there any point to this?

I always enjoy these posts, but I rarely add my opinion….Changed my mind this time.

First of all, I love how people always assume someone is bad at the game, or “doing it wrong” because they have a complaint. Some of you need to realize that just because some of us have negative opinions about certain aspects of the game doesn’t mean we aren’t as good as you.

Example 1: The guy that mentioned dodging / managing your cool downs. Ever fought the Giant in Nageling? I can melee him without ever going down; however, there is an issue with dodging his stomp. On my warrior, I dodged his stomp, ran out of endurance (he stomped twice relatively fast). He then stomped a third time….Now what? Yes, I have some skills that allow me to evade as a warrior, but maybe that weapon isn’t equipped. Why should I be forced to use a specific weapon to get extra dodges? However, without it, other classes meleeing would be one hit by his stomp.

All classes are not equal. If all classes are equal, all classes would be the same. Also, for you dedicated lot get your group of friends together and run EVERY dungeon in the world with the same class type. Rinse and repeat until you’ve tested every class. Track how many times you were downed, killed, and close calls. Now get a diverse group together…..I’ll bet it is easier. BTW, good luck getting past AC path 1 and 3 with all thieves, rangers, warriors, or guardians. I should also mention…..GW2 is meant for all gamers….Even those of us that don’t play it with 4 other friends. So, I should be able to do these dungeons with random groups and not get obliterated….yet, why does that not usually happen?

Now, onto something a bit different, although I believe it ties into the trinity argument. GW2 is supposed to be fun, exciting, and collaborative. No one is supposed to be excluded based on class / level (I mentioned level, assuming you are the proper level to do the dungeon or whatever). However, I can, from personal experience, know this isn’t true. I’ve been kicked from more than one group because I wanted to do an AC explore run on my level 35 alt instead of being on a level 60+ character like the rest of the group.

How is this tied into the trinity argument? Simple. There is one thing that most of you use in your argument without realizing what you are actually saying. Traits. Your armor scales down, your skills scale down, but your traits still work. This breaks the entire idea of their system. Why would you take a shout build warrior that is level 40, and can’t heal you with shouts, when you could take a level 60 shout warrior who can heal you with them? You wouldn’t. Run any dungeon, I prefer AC because from my experiences and conversations with others, it is the hardest dungeon, with characters that meet the minimum level requirement…..Then do it with level 80’s, of the same class type, I will guarantee you it is easier on 80’s. If you’d like, I can throw in the whole argument of what skills you have at level 35 vs 80 too. You with have far fewer because you have far fewer skill points…..Guess what, this affects it too.

I love this game. I’d like to think I am good at this game—I’ve gotten multiple compliments in the past and ran many successful dungeons where people died less than 2-3 times (or not at all). But does that mean everything is perfect? No. It isn’t. Would a monk ruin the game, I seriously doubt it. Most groups all ready have a character who is trying to play as a monk (or, in a dungeon where we had massive trouble, the whole group could be running support builds….Minimal DPS, heals aren’t good enough, you die a lot if teamwork isn’t perfect).

You can hate on my post all you want, I’ll ignore you, but I will do my best to try and provide counter arguments to those posted on mine. This is a good debate and one that needs to be continued.

I didn’t read everyone’s post, so someone might have made this point….

Personally, the change irritates me because it is obviously a change for PvP and WvWvW……Neither of which I actively play. Yet, I have to suffer in PvE? I don’t get it…..

I actually came here to post the same thing. Unlike the original poster, I actually prefer my Asura. Primarily because the animations are better (my opinion), and it makes jumping puzzles so much easier because you get a much better idea of where your character’s hit box actually is. So you rarely bump your head or miss your jump because you under jumped.

The one thing I’ve thought that might be a problem is the personal story. I’m not sure how feasible it is, but I would be happy with it just resetting and us getting no rewards until we get back to the proper story quest.

Fine Crafting Materials (Primarily vials of thin blood)

So, I have a question / discussion about fine crafting materials. Generally, I used to be able to explore the areas on my characters and I would find what I needed as I went; however, after the last patch that made several cooking items go from vendor purchases to drops, I’ve run into a major snag.

I’ve farmed multiple things that drop vials of thin blood and in a few hours, I’ve found less than 10. Primarily, I’ve gone after shelks and skales; is there something else that I should be killing?

Or is this a problem of balanced drops after the latest patch? I used to receive a large amount of venom sacs from bugs and now I’ve noticed those rarely drop. Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks!
