Easiest Overall Profession

PvE wise Warrior and Gaurdian are probably the easiest. Fairly straight forward and can do a lot of damage/buff with little effort.

Engineer and Elementalist are probably the hardest. You have to do a ton of switching of kits/elements depending on the situation and the best DPS build for Eng w/grenades is fairly complicated to use on the move. Although Eng grenade spam underwater is fairly OP.

There was like 280 at 20cp and when I bought 15 it failed and I refreshed they were at 50cp minimum. It wasn’t like they were at 20cp and the next down was 50cp. It was a lot at 20cp more at 21cp some at 22CP. Then in less than 15 seconds 50cp was the cheapest.

Wide spread market manipulation???

So is there widespread market manipulation going on? I just searched for large claws and saw they were 20cp. As I placed my order the price jumped to 50cp. As if someone instantly bought up all the lower priced items faster than I could possibly place an order. I saw the same thing happening with other fine materials.

I personally think they need some of that phasing tech from WOW. Have some event have some long standing semi-permanent effect on a zone (2 hours?) and make it possible to only obtain or obtain something quicker by doing this larger event. Possibly sought after crafting mats, skins, high karma events.

The dragon events are kind of like this but frankittenhose are pretty boring and have no effect on the zone as a whole whatsoever.

The 5 beans was just luck. I’ve often gotten 3-5 while farming with my level 80 and no. No other professions requires lower level mats.

BTW vanilla beans were up to 3s a piece while omonomonomnom berries were 98c.

This whole thread is why dungeons are awful. Any time any boss has a 1 hit kill that is either pass or fail to me isn’t a fun mechanic. It just screams poor/lazy design. We can’t figure anything out so we will just give the boss 1 million HP and have him kill you in one shot. And the sad thing is that this is the basic design for all the bosses. Who cares if its a fireball, shadow walk, death touch, or whatever if the basic mechanic is see tell-dodge-profit then they are the same thing.

Personal Story Difficulty Unacceptable

The thumper turret doesn’t help that much either. I’ve tried all of the engineer toolset setups and nothing shines as a particularly good solution for the multi mob encounters. The volume of mobs usually means my turrets break quickly regardless of the type, and as my healing turret goes on cooldown I’m left hanging with unsatisfactory flamer/grenade AOE and no heals of my own.

That and the fact that the mobs just hit REALLY hard in packs of the size they come in right now. Even if I could damage them more, they still rip me to shreds. It’s common for me to lose half of my health 4 seconds into a wave. Individually I’m sure I could handle them perfectly fine, even coming in pairs, but 4+ is unmanageable and makes me a sad panda.

Running my engineer I find the bomb kit works best in the personal story line and PvE. Simply wade into a bunch of mobs and drop the smoke bomb then bomb away. I usually drop everyone before the smoke screen combo disappears so they can’t hit me because they are blind. Be sure to take the bomb damage radius trait and extra explosion damage traits in the explosives line.

For vets/champs I simply kite them around in circles dropping bombs along the way. They simply walk right into them. Ranged vets and champs can be a bit harder.

I also have the crate as my elite, the healing kit as my heal, and rocket turret and elixer X I think as my other 2, but they can easily be swapped out for something else. I just use elixer X for the run buff in PvE combined with the healing kit, I’m 100% speed buffed wherever I go with the elixer CD reduction and duration traits.

I run full explosives and then 2 majors into the lines for healing and toughness for PVE.

Tower Down (64) Personal Story Quest

I followed Stardriver.7459 ’s suggestion on my second run of this story and completed without any difficultly.

First talk to Demolitionist Tonn to get the group of NPCs moving, instead of following them east through the cave, go north (to the 3rd tower) and Tonn will tag along. The mobs along the way can be pulled one by one very easily as you work your way up. Just before reaching the tower, revive a dead Wyld Hunt Technician, who then goes to revive more of his friends. Clear the tower of its surrounding risen. I then moved south along the shore to clear out the second tower, then carefully around the first tower.

This method is a little easier I think and safer than running ahead to aggro the risen away from the tower as others have suggested. There’s less chance of any risn getting stuck because you’re clearing the last and second tower that Tonn won’t blow up yet.

Continue as normal after blowing up the first tower, moving back to the second tower, then following the Pack Marmox back through the cave. Unlike the others in the NPC group, the Marmox will stop just before the Wyld Hunt’s tent, which is normal. 3 more risen will pop out near the 3rd tower. They are at a safe distance away from it – but kill the one closest to it first anyway was my thinking.

You’ll know all is fine afterwards when the objective is to talk to Tonn again to make a story decision.

This looks like it works. It seems the cinematic is triggered from the 3 undead spawning after the tower blows up and killing them last. But most of the time when you get to the third tower there are a bunch of undead still up when Tonn decides to blow up the tower, he blow them up any time you get close. so you will sometimes kill those 3 undead before all the undead are…dead. So the last one you kill will just be some random undead guy and will not trigger the cinema.

Why I think that crafting is broken

Do you have to farm the mats? Yes.
That is part of the process of crafting.

I think that’s the point he’s trying to make. Everything we were told from the developers is that you will not have to grind/farm in order to level crafting but in reality that’s exactly what you have to do.

Can you please clarify the anti-farming policy of GW2?

I will say the opposite. I was farming fine mats killing river drakes for scales and claws. At some point all of a sudden all drops stopped. I would get maybe 2 drops over 10 minutes. When before I was getting a drop every other drake or so. I tried killing bats for blood at that point and the same thing. No more drops.
