Oh…and I’m not opposed to buying crafted Exotic Gear – just not sure for my build.
Are you running a trap build, or a crit build?
a trap build – using spike & fire mainly – sometimes sub in snake
What Karma gear would be suited for my spec?
So I’m almost 75 – running KT runs to get to 80. I’m running 0/30/30/0/5 build with Rampager gear right now. I do mainly PvE. I’ve read that for WvW the Berserker gear is pretty good. What Karma gear would be good for me?
PVE ONLY
As the topic title states, what traits should I be focused on?
I use Scepter/Dagger + Staff weaving in DS. Currently level 60. I do not use minions except for minor exception of the fiend sometimes
- Fiend is too buggy for me to use all of the time.
Currently I have 15/25/10/0/0 but I’m questioning the 15 points in Spite – does power really do much for me with this weapon setup?
So, I have to admit…I’m having a lot of fun with a dagger/dagger spec. My first few levels as a Necro were a bit…meh.
Necro is a “different” kind of class. I started with the typical scepter/dagger build and played around with traits and skills for a long while. Around 25 or so, the class really starting changing it’s feel for me. Now that I’m 41 and climbing, it is really starting to change.
So…I’m running dagger/dagger build using
Consume Condition – Heal
Well of Corruption – AoE
Blood is Power – tied in with deathly swarm is fun
Spectral Walk – for map movement generally
Flesh Golem
- Gotta say that I’m not overly happy with the Golem as it’s a complete moron that attacks anything at will.
I have my handy staff for random regen heals, slows, fears, etc….And of course Death Shroud.
For traits, I’m running 20 into Spite & 11 into Soul Reaping.
I doubt that this build would stand up in sPvP or WvW as it has too much melee involved, but for a general PvE build, it is pretty fun.
I’d also recommend using Well of Suffering and Well of Corruption. BiP can be nice, but I find the wells more useful. As has already been said, drop Corrupt Boon. (I like Consume Conditions, WoS, WoC(or Epidemic for DEs), Signet of Undeath, and Plague.)
So I took everyones advise and dropped Corrupt Boon. Now running CC, WoS, WoC, Signet of Undeath. Still have a couple of levels to gain for the elite skill. So far, so good. MoBs aren’t lasting 1 solid rotation. Still have to get used to the the multiple switching.
Appreciate all of the feedback.
Sidenote, why are you using corrupt boon for PVE?
Honestly, from lack of understanding. Likely I read about it from a PvP post and didn’t realize that is what it used for. Typically it is something that I would setup just before a transfer of conditions. But I would guess that the signet of spite might be the better option.
As for the others, I can see that I just need a better understanding of how to work the staff into a needed situation.
Ok. Somewhat of a stupid question, but how is the staff utilized? I’m currently using Scepter/Dagger with Staff Alt.
- This is for PVE ONLY
Realizing that the staff is for AoE, I still find it odd to use. When I’m doing an event and multiple mobs are around, do I just button punch 2-5 and then auto attack with #1?
For my typical trait setup while using Scepter Dagger is #6 Consume Condition #7 Plague Signet #8 Epidemic #9 Corrupt Boon. – Being only level 25, I don’t have an Elite skill yet.
When I switch to my Staff, which is just “on the fly” I am not switching my traits. Is that part of the issue? Should I have wells for traits when I switch over to the staff for these brief encounters?
So I’ve been playing GW2 for a little over a month now – I have a Thief around 64, a engineer around 62, a warrior in the 30’s. Being a leveler, I started a necromancer – since my days of EQ1, I’ve been in love with the Necro classes.
So right now, my necro is around level 12 – not very high at all. I’m not bashing this class or calling it OP or UP, but I’m finding myself not liking how it is played.
I’m using Scepter/Dagger for Main w/ Staff ALT – granted, I’m really not sure what I’m doing with the staff abilities from an AOE perspective.
With access to very few skills & traits, I haven’t found that niche of skills that feel right.
Does this class start to change in feeling in a few more levels? I don’t find it difficult to kill things, just have to run around a bit more. I’m not looking for the big numbers or insta-death to mobs, just for a bit more cohesion in playing.
EDIT: This is for PVE only as I don’t do much, if any, PVP
