The new trait system

I’m getting on mostly to complain about the new trait system. I like the idea of fighting bosses and doing events for traits as it makes the game last longer but now my level 50 Ele is way weaker than he was before because I have less traits now. I don’t get how this system is better than it was before and honestly feels like a useless change. The stats you got from each level up made it feel like a steady progression but now it’s like Wow with their trait system. Why would I want to wait 5 levels to get stronger when I was getting stronger every level before, the logic doesn’t make sense to me. I think they should keep the getting traits from bosses but turn the trait system back to how it was before where every level you got a trait point.

Buff Eternity. Its not shiny enough. Seriously, I can only see 5 or 10 galaxies in its skybox when clearly it should hold the majesty of at least a small universe. And it should hit harder…because of reasons.

@OP

1. guest on a high pop server and you’ll find the Orr events done more often. Although the events become bland after a while, I feel its less because of mechanics and more about the lack of challenge when in a massive zerg. There’s less accountability when you add so many people to a fight, but yeah… really not complaining. Events are for farming and can be fun if you keep your playstyle varied.

2. I don’t feel the need for faster leveling to be honest. Its… part of playing the game. And lets face it, SWTOR leveling process of planet hopping isn’t exactly as revolutionary thing like GW2 and…. man I hate Taris. Its not the quests… its.. I don’t know, the coloring? The swamp-like atmosphere… the way it goes out of its way to keep your from getting anywhere fast? Balmorra’s close, but I’m pretty sure double xp weekends were made specifically for Taris.

3. Haven’t done much in PvP, so its still shiny. I need to play it more to give any worthwhile feedback.

As for my own feedback ideas.

a) TP overhaul. Need light/med/heavy search priority, needs back pieces and whatever you guys did to kitten up searching for runes and sigils, please unkitten this. A baseline timer to keep price gougers in check would be neat too.

b) .More armor skins that play well for mix/match. A buttcape toggle, so we can use some of the more awesome tops without the drapes. Heavy armor that seems “lighter” and light armor that seems “heavier”. More unique helms that are goggles/blindfolks/eyepatches for all armor types.

c) More LS events that drop enough gold to make farming more fun? The original Scarlet invasions lasted what, two weeks? and were fun/profitable. They should have just removed the event after the nerf as practically noone on my server cares to do them now. Even if its just one week out of a month where we can concentrate on something shiny, new and profitable, just to mix things up a bit would be more fun.

d) a raise for the forum mod that will shortly translocate this thread to the suggestions forum? This may or may not have been editted by the forum mod, but.. you’ll never know for sure! muahaha!

Yea I know what you mean about the leveling process but it would be fun if you think about it. People hear double xp weekend and try gw2 for free on the same weekend and I BET a ton of people will buy the game because they’ll realize how fun it is. I was also thinking more about making content that already exists more fun whether difficulty or new mechanics or whatever….

I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since the head start and I’ve done most of the content (haven’t really gotten deep into fracs yet) and I love the game. I have tried pretty much every new MMO and I always come back to playing my Guardian because I love the way the games set up. There are things that I really think could be changed to make this game a lot more fun and appeal to way more people and wouldn’t make the devs have to do a whole ton of work. So here we go…

1) Revamp Orr bosses. I know the point of them is to get karma gear but if you gave cool skins that drop and make the mechanics of the bosses way more fun, I feel like way more people would want to do them on a regular basis.
2) Have double xp weekends (kind of stealing this from Star Wars) but it would have huge flood of people want to play to level up that new character.
3) Add new mechanics to Spvp maps (I know this isn’t and original idea but I know a lot of people are tired of "hold these points) a few ideas are for the maps are capture the flag or kills monsters set for each team and collect orbs to power up some device and whoever powers up their device first wins but killing the other teams monsters causes them to lose power on their device (idea in progress haha).

I’ll add more ideas if I think of them but go ahead and post your own or criticize mine or whatever feel free to post!

Update Another good idea is separate the easier dungeons from the harder ones and really upgrade the reward for dungeons that are hard and take teamspeak and such. Another good idea would to be to give a lot of gold for the first run of that path for the day because people would then run dungeons that they usually don’t just to get that extra gold boost. Make some dailies in the dungeons that no one does so people will do them….. I’ll add more if I think of them!

I just rolled and ele because of the cool gameplay and the fast paced fighting and I got hooked instantly playing 23 games in a row (ik a long string of games). I’m using Daphoenix’s build the most and i haven’t tried any other but i really like this build and I’m going to lvl my ele using it until i find something better so i was curious, what gear do i use for pve and spvp. I’d appreciate it if you could tell me exactly what gear to use for tourneys for this build. Thanks!

Do you WvW? If not, what's stopping you?

People the point of games is to have fun, not playing WvWvW because there isn’t enough rewards is silly because there will obviously be more in the future and more stuff will come. Play stuff because it entertains you, why do you always have to be rewarded for what you do?

Look at videos on youtube. I understand exactly how you feel being an old wow player and also going through that same exact mess lol. This games dungeons are way easier then they look once you get pass the first couple time, theres mechanics for everything and most are quite easy so just look into some videos, the dungeons are actually quite fun.

I guess but honestly their figuring it out, and for just coming out this game has a lot going for it with more paths coming eventually and more DE’s in new area’s. I personally enjoy this game and it does have some tactics but they’ll add more eventually.

Yea I did one in AC and it was hard as heck! There was these 3 different class clones and you had to fight them but the trick was one of them was healing all the time. So much fun, these dungeons do have tactics!

Why Guild Wars 2 - the good and the bad

Within the last 2 years I have started playing MMO’s and these are the games for me. I played WoW for about a year, only leveling a paladin because that’s the only class I liked. After I hit 85 i quit because I didn’t like raiding and the pvp just wasn’t cutting it for me. Then SWTOR came out. I got it and…… well i quit by level 25. Then i heard about GW2. I had played the first one a bit so I decided to give GW2 a try. I did lots of looking into this game because for some reason it really interest me on how they were going to run the game. I made the mistake of picking a warrior in the beginning, lvling him to 65 then being so bored I rerolled a Guardian and got it to 80 and absolutely love the class. So from here on I’m going to split this into 2 seperate parts, the things that makes this game the game I’m going to stay with, and things that need to be changed (in my opinion)

The Good: I absolutely love the combat. It’s fast paced, has lots of going on but simple enough that you can understand everything that’s happening at one given moment. Almost all the classes can be played in a way that can fit your playstyle and you can change it accordingly, heck you can even go into hearts of the mists, try out 20 different builds and then build your character that way in pve. That’s a genius idea in itself. People complain all the time about there’s no endgame, there is endgame, its just not the kind every other mmo has so it seems like there isn’t. Another reason people are getting bored so quick is in my generation, new games come out constantly and its “cool” to have the newest coolest one out there. When a game loses its ‘newness’ then it’s boring and people stop playing. That mindset I don’t understand at all because there is lots keeping me in GW2. Honestly I haven’t dabbled in WvWvW that much because I’ve been lvling a lot but when I have played it, it’s a blast with some good friends. I also love the graphics, I’m a graphics person and this game is gorgeous. Last but not least, I love that there’s no subscription. I have school, a job, and a girlfriend and in my downtime I like gaming. This game fills my time but if I can’t play for 5 days, I don’t feel like I’m wasting my money.

The Bad: Ok, by now some of you are probably thinking I’m not focusing on the negatives but trust me, I see them clear as day. The fact that they are nerfing classes before they even fix the class bugs doesn’t make sense because you could be making something that doesn’t work the right way in the first place, suck even more. That’s counter productive. I honestly like mounts in other games and wish this one had them but that isn’t a game breaker and honestly doesn’t bother me that much but its dumb that it costs so much to travel all over the map. Earlier I said “Almost all classes can be played in a way that will fit your playstyle,” well I said almost because honestly the warrior class really made me mad. When you play Guardian you have all the attacks that warrior pretty much has, just a thousand times better because of boons and blocks and things like that. The warrior seemed to really have one amazing build and it sucked unless Frenzy was up. You pop frenzy, then bulls charge, the hundred blades= insta kill. That’s all fine and dandy while your cooldowns are up but your pretty much useless until they come back up again. In dungeons I felt useless and trust me i speced my guy to be tanky, and I wasn’t at all. Guardians did everything I could do 100% better and more. That made me mad and I feel like that class needs some rethinking. I haven’t dabbled in the other ones that much so I can’t say anything. Another thing I don’t like is the Guild UI. I know it will be fixed eventually but c’mon, there isn’t even a calender so you can set stuff up. The last thing is all the bugs, the whole Iron Marshes (correct me if I’m wrong on spelling) seems bugged.

These are my personal feelings on GW2 and I will be sticking with this game until something better comes along. Most of the stuff I whined about will probably be fixed in the next few months so I can’t wait for that. People need to realize games are to have fun, not to keep you stuck to your computer for 10+ hours a day. If you don’t like the way the game is right now, go back to Kung Fu Panda WoW and come back in a few months because you can, there’s no sub fees. Thanks for your time and give me some thoughts!
