Possible hack?

Incident: a 3v3 occurred in a bl and the fight was moving along until a warrior class on the opposing side utilized what looked to be a skill that 1)jumped in the air (similar to the warrior skill stomp) 2) slammed on the ground and 3) dazed in a aoe around him. This was all well and good but this exact same skill occurred 4 times in ~6 seconds.

Before this gets slammed, this occurred in wvw and this was looked into after the fact to draw reasonable suspicion, and since enemy players are effectively anonymous, there was no way to report this. All I am wondering is has anyone seen this before and is anyone able to shed light on this. [IE is this known issue?] Since the in-game mechanics prevented an official report from being conducted (due to verification that this was simply not a class mechanic that was not understood at the time, I would appreciate the mods showing some leniency on this matter. Thanks.

Image below is the tool tip found in the combat log after the fight. As there is no name on the skill it shows up as ‘[]’ in the log.

[Suggestion] Torch tweak

in Guardian

Posted by: DaedSaint.6190

DaedSaint.6190

Not sure how much this has been tossed around on here, but I think that if the torch #5 skill cleared condis from the user as well as allies then that would be all it would need to make the torch viable for both solo/small man and group content. Might have to look at the number of condis cleared per pulse to keep it balanced. What say you?

Roaming in wvw

DaedSaint.6190

For future reference I’d post in the WvW subforum to begin with because this thread is most likely going to be moved there anyways.

However, to add some insight from a seasoned roamer, in my opinion d/d ele is more fun simply because of the higher skill cap and sheer versatility of the setup, especially the celestial build you referred to. D/p thief while entertaining is rather rinse repeat. Ie: stealth→backstab→stealth/disengage→repeat. Not that I’m hating on thiefs. I love killing you guys. XD

Unkillable Guardian Build (viable)

in Guardian

Posted by: DaedSaint.6190

DaedSaint.6190

I built this solely for 2 man roaming with a thief buddy of mine, and its one purpose was to not die out manned, and to not die to conditions. While it is nice and tanky keep in mind that most of your direct damage mitigation comes from good dodges and proper positioning as with any build. (And use of blinds and blocks in the case of the guardian) After countless hours roaming and guild grouping, and over 1800 hours on guardian, this has become my tried and true “unkillable” build. The power isn’t bad for a bunker and it can hit 2k with guard stacks. The build doesn’t play itself so skill with a guardian is required and I speak nothing is what gearing it out costs but for a build that doesn’t go down, this is it.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQNAR8dl0ApWotCxfH8DNhDBl9Oq/9xuCX4DXFAA-T1xHAB0pEMgHCwJ7PckyvAV/BgrAAa6GIDwyYA-w

Note: I usually run Signet of Resolve as you get a feel for when you can hit it without being interrupted and for the extra condi cleanse, however I recommend shelter when conditions aren’t a huge issue or you are outmanned more than 3-1. (Or your skill with the guardian is less than ideal) Also Purity can be changed out for Strength in Numbers if you feel you need more toughness or you are running in a group.

[NA] Guard LF PvP guild

DaedSaint.6190

I’ve been doing soloQ for a while now and it has gotten too taxing getting a team that runs around trying to figure out what to do. So I am looking for a PvP guild that is easy to get a group together.

I have over 1500 hours on guardian with a large chunk of those roaming in WvW. I led a roaming guild for a while so I am no stranger to 5v5 esque combat. Been doing spvp for a while now and just want a more organized PvP.

The Eternity issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DaedSaint.6190

DaedSaint.6190

Yes, this topic has been brought up many times. I want to keep it fresh in everyone’s minds and hopefully Anets. Speaking of I know many posts solicit responses but some feedback on this is much needed.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/What-Eternity-Should-Look-Like

This was a post from an archived forum about a possibility of a new eternity skin made by a very talented artist, and while I am not saying it has to be this one, it wouldn’t be a bad one.

Anet, you have given us some killer looking Legendary weapons, but the “ultimate” one is merely the two before it that flip-flop plus a glowing orb on the end. Lets be honest, for giving up two legendaries to make this one the payoff is not equal to the work invested. The market is reflecting this. Currently the price of Bolt has skyrocketed and is approaching the price of Eternity. Granted it is highly unlikely that Bolt will ever reach Eternity’s price but the price of a combined legendary weapon should dwarf the rest. This is simply evidence that the community at large is dissatisfied with the current state of this weapon.

Anet, you have created a beautiful game. Your artistic staff is surely something to behold. Far be it from me to tell you what you are or are not capable of, simply from observing this game it should be quite easy for you to come up with a design that blows us away. Alternatively, observe the responses to the above post. I share their opinion that that design is quite…well, awesome.

Anet, please hear your community on this. Both the forums and the market are begging for their voice to be heard. For those who wish to keep Eternity as is, I believe that they should be allowed to. However, for the rest of us, this “ultimate” weapon certainly deserves a skin on par with its intended status.

Open World Dueling

in WvW

Posted by: DaedSaint.6190

DaedSaint.6190

Being someone that as someone who spends most of their time in WvW, seeing/having participated in the impromptu dueling that happens there quite regularly there (if you know where to look), I think this would be a boon for a couple reasons:

1. The most noticeable right now is look at the WvW reaction to Acc bound wxp. Overwhelming support. The WvWers would be the one to appreciate this change most and we are the ones who buy our gems (obviously I do not speak for everyone here) to get the items off the gem store we desire because we just dont want to spend our time in PvE.

2. This was mentioned in a earlier post, but it would be a great quality of life change to be able to strike up a duel with guildies (or even randoms) when waiting on X to start/move out etc. Also as a personal point of view on this, I know I would love to be able to fight members of my guild to test builds, practice 1v1, maybe have an informal tourney, and generally I think it would be fun.

3. For those concerned with dueling in the middle of a PvE area; I know this is by no means a blanket statement, but knowing the mind of someone who likes to duel, most of the the duels would happen off in an area with relative seclusion to avoid interruptions. I reiterate: this would not be all but I do think that the bulk of open world duels would happen without the PvE population ever even knowing about it.

4. I really thought this would be obvious, but no offense to the dev who commented earlier, spvp and wvw are two separate entities. Yes there are some who run almost identical builds in both, but a lot of us who like to build and tweak till we get the numbers just right to how we play will only ever get similar builds in spvp (and I mean how a cat is similar to and elephant because they both have 4 legs and a tail). To be able to 1v1 in out fully kitted out wvw builds against other combat ready wvw builds to see how they perform in combat is something this game sorely needs.

In summary:
- helps keep wvw population happy
- promote guild unity and interaction
- introduce new people to pvp in a controlled environment
- PvE players need fear not
- fantastic quality of life addition

Your funniest experience as a solo roamer

in WvW

Posted by: DaedSaint.6190

DaedSaint.6190

I (a guardian) was roaming around and enemy BL with my roaming buddy (a thief) looking for fights. As we were about to find a more target rich environment, the commander on the map asked if anyone would take bloodlust. So we figured why not. There may be someone to kill there. By the time we got there, two of the points were already being capped so we headed out to the SW point, and to our surprise there were already 8 baddies sitting on it capping. I figure, “oh well, we can just go get another one”. By the time I thought it, he was on the point fighting 1v8. So i charge in shouting over TS “I’ll try to keep them distracted! Just kill them!” As I’m tanking the bulk of the group, I see one of them go down off to the side. I heard “One down.” over TS. This continues for about 3-4 more till I can stop taking and turn my attention to killing the rest with him. Now I’m not sure if they were just that bad or if we were just that on our game that day, but as we stood atop 8 dead bodies we realized that we just went 2v8 and absolutely roflstomped them. Those are the fights that keep me roaming. (Note: not to speak of gear or skill, but none were uplvs)

"Unkillable" Guard - WvW

It seems a couple clarifications are needed.
-I prefer SoR because I can manage my health well in fights. If you can’t or simply prefer shelter by all means use it. I am not putting it down. I do like it for GvG/zerg play.

-Not sure what was meant by picking up soldiers runes. This particular build doesn’t use soldiers runes.

-As far as elites are concerned, RF if the only choice in <5 man fights. However the variation was there for group fight or highly coordinated 5 man havoc teams should they want to run it. I personally run RF all the time except when a commander/driver asks for them.

Hope that clears things up a little.

Bump but after an unexpected hiatus, I returned and finished this build. It looks odd and it was not my favorite during theory crafting, however, after playing with it, it is amazing. Provided you know how to play guard of course.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQJASWlYgyCXFyvDf4ES2jVCBTQsHYUG1RXFcIA-j0BB4hDRjaIZ0HBKBtIaslRFRjVNjIqWnETGAztA-w

Variations:
-stacking weapon with Superior Sigil of Life
-3 shout as default but swap Hold the Line for: Contemplation of Purity, Wall of reflection, and sometimes Judges Intervention as needed.
-Can run shelter however I recommend sigil.
-Tome elite as needed. If you don’t know or dont feel confident using them, keep RF as default and just keep popping virtues
-Can swap Purity for Strength in Numbers as needed when in groups
-While it shows hammer/staff, that is for group play. GS/sword-focus for small group.
-Mango pies or a 40% endurance regen depending on style of play
!! I used ascended armor just to max this toon. Exotics work fine !!

Thanks to those who contributed on the forums and in game. I hope this build helps if you were looking for an awesome bunker build (or just perfect your own) and the variations will let you tweak for your own style of play.

@xFireize: Somehow missed that one. Will have to play around with that. Thanks for pointing that out.

@ CRrabbit: I use the term “unkillable” loosely. Obviously lol. But you are mistaken when it comes to only working against fair fights. I have run with this same thief with far less tanky guard builds against 5-10 enemies many times. Can’t win every time but we have a high success rate. So, no offense, but if your solution to making a build more tanky is re-rolling a troll warrior, that’s some pretty narrow thinking my friend.

@xFireize: I must be missing the connection between precision and dodgerolls. Elaborate?

@fadeaway: I am still torn between 30 in valor for AH and 20 in virtues to boost Virtue of Resolve. For this two man play I settled on the 0/0/20/30/20 because AH simply doesn’t give as much healing as the 20 in virtues. However for any engagement larger, AH starts out healing that real fast. So while I don’t feel that 20 in virtues is “better” per say, it performs better in this particular form of fighting.

@xFireize: Good to see someone else appreciates M/S. But no precision because this is a niche build. It wont be used to solo roam. It will be used to roam with a thief who is the primary source of damage. Therefore, for this particular scenario, this build does not require any damage output. On the topic of crits that take advantage of traits, I simply found that either I did not like that particular setup, or I had to give something up that I did not want to.

@Oozo: You are correct in stating that the mobility granted by S2 is a fantastic defensive option. I have thoroughly enjoyed using it to move around in a 1vX or small group fight. However for simply facetanking something, M/S is better since the only advantage gained from S2 is from mobility. (And that is mobility assuming there is something to target) However, as stated in a previous post, I usually carry about 8 different weapons with me so I requip as the situation calls for. Astute observation though.

I actually have run Healway extensively in WvW, and while I like it, that is not the goal here. My reasonings:

1. M/S gives +250 healing power with trait and I like shield for defence over focus
2. Hammer has better control options than GS also near perma protction from H1
3. Both trait layouts are good. I have run both. Never for this. Both will be tested.
4. Guardian has relatively low health pool. 20K health is good health while still being able to get +1500 Healing power
5. Interesting suggestion. Will try it out.
6. Dedicated stacking was assumed. Only room for 2. I usually run with about 8.
7. Travelers wouldn’t be bad for this setup, but there is better. Rage would be useless.

Thanks for the input.

Oops that was left over from a previous iteration. MoC had been on for Contemplation of Purity as a mass condi burn. However CoP doesn’t cure allies so 3 shout heals is used as default. Thanks for pointing that out, and yes, for basic roaming I would opt for Vengeful. However III, V, & VI can be substituted as needed (mainly for group fights).

This is a build I have been working on to roam with a Thief that is more or less a “two man zerg” style of play. That being one tanks a substantial amount of players while the other kills them off one by one. The primary purpose of this build is to stay alive and mobile. This is achieved by sacrificing all offensive options to gain maximum survivability.

I don’t know of anyone that has run this variant of a bunker but if you do, or have ways of making it more tanky/have more sustain I’d love to hear it.

EDIT: same build. just a couple polishes.

Gear grind fix / Anet re-earns lost faith

in Suggestions

Posted by: DaedSaint.6190

DaedSaint.6190

When GW2 launched, one thing that drew many was the appeal GW1 had with the lack of gear grind, and for a while it appeared GW2 was the same paradise. Ascended items have flipped all that on its head. (not to mention the lv cap is 80 and that cap increasing is an inevitability). With the release of Asc weapons it rightfully had many players indignant, and Anet lost much of the faith the player had given them. I offer a fix to both.

Ascended weapons:
1. Restore the base damage to exotic lv
2. Allow them to change stats out of combat (same as legendary)

Now i know someone is already thinking “Make them like a legendary? Thats what makes them legendary!” Well, no. They were sought after before the patch that changed that and they would be after this. Yes, this is going to ruffle the feathers of those who spent the time and money getting lv 500 and then the process of actually crafting the thing. I am in this group. As far as the base damage on a legendary, leave it alone. Give the people who made em something. I almost solely play WvW and if someone want to make a legendary for the 50 extra points of damage, I say bring it.

Ascended trinkets? Leave em alone. They are too far gone to fix at this point.

Oh and that level cap increase? How about having the Ascended weapons/armor, oh idk, maybe Ascend?! Lord knows we put in the work to get those shiny pink items.

I would love to hear back from a dev on this because you guys had a good thing and I know too many good players (pve and wvw) that quit because of the gear grind that we were promised wouldn’t exist.
