That’s why i said on my post that you should NOT try it if you have a older card than a GTX card, cus that’s what i have…. and it does fix the crash, i never said it was without hitches.
The fix i posted was for the “heap bytes” crash issue specifically, maybe not the OOM issue. I dont know if its any difference, but clearly it is.

That’s why I said it’s a temporary fix, until ANET have fixed it on their side. Once it’s fixed, they can go back to 0 offsets again.

Yes i do have memory issues and crashes since HoT got live, wouldn’t reply on this topic if I wouldn’t.

Well, then it’s strange. But since you have a better card than me, i don’t see why you shouldn’t try this, since it worked for me. Even if it’s only for 1 day. Works wonders.
At most, your card shouldnt be hotter than 5C by doing this… That isn’t much.

I don’t know why you get so hostile, I’m just trying to let the less tech savvy people know.

I have a GTX 980 fyi, but I won’t try this. What are you suggesting might repair issues you might have in all games, e.g. the card doesn’t have enough power or bad drivers or bad chips on your GPU, etc.

Changing the offset to 150-200Mhz on one card, might set another card in flames, those values are purely arbitratry chosen by you for your specific GPU. So unless everyone has a GTX 660 from the same manufacturer and the same production batch then your advice is worse than no advice.

I’m getting hostile? I’m telling the truth and what works for those that have the specific crash issue. There is no more to it than what was posted in the post. I don’t care if you believe me or not, only if you haven’t tested it out yourself…

You are giving an advice that might potentially fry people’s GPUs, I won’t test anything unless you’re willing to give me 800$ to replace my GPU if it burns.

That’s why i said on my post there that unless you have at least a GTX gcard, DO NOT TRY THIS! It seems that you never read the post in the first place, so… Yeah… Not my fault if it fries cus you don’t read…

and fyi, my card is a GTX 660 one, so…

So you want us to mess with the frequencies of our perfectly working GPUs because of a buggy client? Say what?
It might help you maybe with your card, but from a logical pov it does not make sense to generalize.

I’m just sharing what i’ve found to be working for me. You don’t have to take my word for it, but unless you’re fine with the constant crashing and can’t wait for ANET to fix it themselves, this is the solution i’ve found. It’s your call to test it yourself or not.

But like i said, unless you’ve tested it yourself and can say with 100% certainty that it doesn’t work, then just stay silent, you’re not helping anyone.

That post is about a completely different issue.

No it’s not. It’s still about the “heap bytes” crash issue, which is a memory issue and started happening with the HoT launch as well. So unless you tested this and it doesn’t work, you can’t say it’s not the same issue.

Alright, I found out a “hacky” way around the crash issue. If you have a older gcard than the GTX series, i suggest you do NOT try this, it may fry your card.
DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW THE RISKS

  • Download EVGA Precision X (basically a overclocking graphic card program, google it)
  • Set MEM CLOCK OFFSET to somewhere between +150 and +200 mhz and then press APPLY.
  • Optional: Set GPU CLOCK OFFSET to + 50 mhz if above doesn’t do the job perfectly.
  • Close the program and enjoy. Nothing else to it.

Played for over 2 hours with no “heap bytes” crash anymore with those settings.

… not to mention the occasional freeze-crash, with no crash log or anything. Everything just freezes up and you cant do anything, except close GW2.

In that case, please contact Customer Service (follow the links to ‘support’ in the upper left of this page). They’ll help you troubleshoot — whatever is going on for you isn’t necessarily related to the server issues everyone else suffered the last 10-12 hrs.

It’s not server side… I guess you didn’t check the screenshot i posted, huh?

Either way, it’s on ANet’s side, not mine, since this is the only game i have this issue and it ONLY appeared with the launch of HoT. I was in the beta weekends for HoT and it was 100% fine, even after several hours of playing.

Also, it’s not the past 10-12 hours… its been there ever since launch. Every. Single. Time.

Regardless of what is going on, create a support ticket and work with Customer Service to troubleshoot; they’ll need the data that only you can provide to help you out.

Hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of people are playing HoT without the crashes you are seeing. Which means that ANet isn’t aware of whatever it is that you are seeing, at least not until you contact them and provide them with the details (including the full crash report, not just an excerpt).

Then what’s sending a crash report there in the first place then, if its not to deduct the source of the issue? Please…

Also, I’m not the only one getting this issue, seen a few posts about it as well…

game keep crashing at least 10- 15 times day,,,,,,, since last night when the game crash it refuse to restart saying there is no network connection…. please fix this

I’ve been getting this exact same crash error ever since launch and it hasn’t been fixed yet. I’m really, really close to ditch GW2 cus there doesn’t seem to be a fix…

… and I said in previous replies that I HAVE COMPLIED EVERY SINGLE TICKET I’VE MADE WITH SERIAL KEY, CREDIT CARD NUMBER, FULL NAME, DISPLAY NAME AND EVERYTHING ELSE!

Still nothing has been done, so I’m this close to give up entirely… Call me cranky, but this isn’t the first time this happens nor the first game and it’s the same story everytime I want to change something that isn’t in their normal standard…

I have sent the ticket e-mail from this new one each time and each time i got the exact same automated reply and nothing else happens after it, so I have no idea what they want from me more…

No.

I literally changed my account name a few days ago. From email 1 to email 2.

I submitted the ticket from email 2. The ticket said I wanted to change my email address from email 1 to email 2.

Then I waited. Was on the edge of the three days when it was changed.

That is why i cannot do it. The email on this account is compromised, so i cannot access it or even login to it anymore, they will send me to the one email that is connected to this account…
eg. My new email is the only one i have access to and want to switch to…

The thing is, I can still access the account perfectly and i can still login with it and it hasn’t been compromised yet. My actual e-mail associated with this account have tho, so I don’t wanna lose it because support didn’t help me in time.

I kinda think it’s silly that they still haven’t added a feature to enable users to change e-mail normally through account management…

Dajova, the reason ArenaNet does not allow changing of your email address is because it is used as your Account Name. It is half of your login credentials. So changing it can be a big security issue. They are trying to add an additional protection from account thieves.

My suggestion, based on information from the Knowledge Base, send an email to ArenaNet asking for your Account Name to be changed because your current email’s account security has been compromised. Send it from the new email account. Be sure to include the current service request number in the subject and body of your email so it does not reset your position in the customer service work queue. Be prepared because they will probably ask you some questions to authenticate you as the owner of the account.

Since you said that your email’s account security has been compromised, it is possible that the thief has been sending in password change requests and canceling your requests to change your Account Name (email address). That is why ArenaNet suggests you use a new secure email address to contact them from.

No, that is not it. I said numerous times that the hacker has NOT accessed my GW2 account here (eg i still have 100% control over it), it has accessed my e-mail directly (again, NOT my game account, my actual email live.com account). So a e-mail change is all i need for the problem to be fixed! That’s why I’m still boggled why NO1 has figured it out… and probably why it hasn’t been fixed in years…

edit: also, each time i made a ticket, i explained why that was all i wanted and that I typed in EVERYTHING that would ask me about account verification, so i have no idea why they cant use that instead… eg, full name, serial code, display name, credit card number and everything!

3 times over the past year, I’ve filled in tickets about changing my e-mail connected to this account and all 3 times have i gotten a automated response about changing my password, which is NOT what i want to do.

Can someone PLEASE read the entitled ticket for once and actually help out with a simple request as in changing a e-mail address?!

Ticket number: 1126255

(For the record, that e-mail adress listed in that ticket is the wrong one, it’s supposed to be “.gmail.com” and not “live.com”)

If your issue was not addressed, did you update your ticket providing new information or asking for a status report? Did you post your ticket number in the Sticky expressly created for that purpose, ‘Tickets for Review’? If not, you may do so.

No, because i made the ticket yesterday and that thread is for unsolved reports that spans over 3 days. So I’m posting because i got a automated response and it was “resolved” when it wasn’t.

You said ‘3 times’ you have submitted a request. If they have all been in a short time span, you would not have received the non-automated responses, as each time your ticket would have been sent to the back of the queue.

In the future, if you wish to discuss the same issue, update your ticket. Then it won’t be sent to the back of the queue.

Hello. I have tried to send a support ticket about changing my e-mail adress to my current one, but i have yet to get a reply from the support for over a month. How can I speed this up, since the e-mail connected to my current e-mail is unavailable for me?

I had the same issue for the longest time (“Out of Memory” was very perplexing for me, cause i have 8gb of RAM and a AMD Radeon 6850 HD card)… at least when i wasn’t streaming

Cause for some reason, switching quality settings from “best-appearance” to “best-performance” removed the crash issue…

So i began to experiment what could cause this and today, i found out the option that makes the game crash frequently… It was the “Shadow” option…

Basically switching from “High” to “Low” removed the constant crashing… At least for me, I’m using a AMD card, so it could be different from a ndivia card, but try it… Worked for me
(and yes, im also using a 32-bit windows)
