I think the point of the ‘kill 40 Krytan baddies’ dailies is to get 80’s out of Orr and into other areas of the world. You head to a Krytan zone you don’t have 100% on and start killing. Then you come across a few others doing the same thing, a DE pops up, you all join in, kill a Veteran, finish that heart quest nearby while you’re there and boom…you’ve just immersed yourself in the game and community, broken up the monotany of farming Orr, and gotten something in return for your troubles. And you’ve also managed to make some headway toward other daily achievements and map completion.

I would think they would want to get 80s INTO Orr. Right now it seems like, on my server at least, everyone is in Queensdale farming the rapid firing events for monthlies or dalies. I hardly ever see 80s in Orr, except for the 2 base defense areas in Cursed Shores.

Guild Missions [merged]

My main problem is that the whole quest seems very poorly thought out, functionally. When I heard about bounty hunt type missions for guilds, my thought was that, you would get X targets, then your guild would go out hunting for those and kill them, a fun little activity that would bring the guild together for something to do.

I did not realize that we would have to scout out every possible target in advance, use a weird dialogue mechanic that stops a npc from pathing to keep them by a waypoint, so that the whole guild has an opportunity to come kill it for credit, while also hoping that no other guilds, (who are also camping the same NPCs) get them as their target. All so we can beat the timer.

honestly, add another 20-30 mins on the timer and have it be real bounty hunt for guilds who cant field 60+ people.

i TOTALLY agree about banning worst offenders.

they ALL deserve it, and really, i hope that the affected guild can start over with better people.

everybody was aware of the punishment, then why do it ? it makes you feel smarter ?

whatever.

im 100% on anet s side in this one.

We’ll probably move on to another game, we’ve been together since the days of Age of Conan, been through probably 10+ MMO releases, have active branches in around 4 games atm, we have NEVER had one member banned from any game what I remember.

The ones banned, have been the ones who put the most of themselves, and their time, and yes, even their own money into the community, managing all the guild drama that comes with it, always managing things with a fair and even hand for the most part, creating all the events that we did. I guess this is why I am so passionate about this subject, because my guild being here, and this particular game, for me, was the best possible combination of events, now that most of the most dedicated members are gone (Ive been with them long enough to believe strongly that they did NOT think this was an exploit, call me a fool, i’m sure you will.) the game doesnt have the same draw anymore.

I absolutely LOVE this game, it has everything I want, except my friends to play with anymore. I’m selfish, sure, I think everyone has the right to be a little selfish once in a while, with all the crap that can happen in life.

The number of accounts terminated as a result of this exploitative activity is actually very small—fewer than 200. However, these people are the very worst offenders, and engaged in this exploit to egregious levels—hundreds and even thousands of times. They knew exactly what they were doing and they knew that their activities would damage the economy.

As a reminder, when we dealt with the karma exploit incident in September, we said that we would show some leniency for that particular incident. However, we made it clear that future exploits would be dealt with more firmly. As a result, we have terminated the accounts of the worst offenders in this most recent incident.

As always, if you have an exploit to report, please email exploits@arena.net.

Thank you.

I’m sorry, I do not believe this for one second, my guild alone saw ~10-15 people banned, I seriously doubt that we had ~ 10% of ALL exploiters game wide. We have many members, but a smaller number of very active ones.

As a result of this my guild is now without leadership and according to your support we have no way of making anyone else leader.

Our only recourse, for all the members who did NOT get banned and are players is good standing is to leave our guild, which had all guild options built up, and start all over again.

actully ive seen several in my guild who did this a little and did not get banned

it might be more than 200 i dont know maybe he is saying different number but what i am more sure that they actully banned the ones that profit most

And Every SINGLE Mofo knew about what they were doing and every SINGLE ONE Deserves A BAN RIGHT IN THEIR FACE

While other have it 30232343255r23532253354% harder to get gold

Or buy gold with gems, because manipulating the economy is ok as long as Areanet gets their cut.

This is why I’m starting to not trust the B2P model now, they got your money, now nothing is stopping them from banning you for any little thing, hoping you go out and buy another copy. If you protest, you’ll be called a liar (which some are) and dismissed.

So, you leader was banned likely rightfully, and the guild is risking to fall apart?
Sounds fair to me. When a leader is cheating, All the fruits of his labor should be confiscated after he/she has been banned.

Now, that’s what i call fair.

Plus, I thought that being in a guild would be all about the people, not the benefits

That’s a pretty stupid and naive point of view. So if the president of your company is caught committing some kind of fraud, you’re happy about losing your job because of something he did?

Try thinking before you make idiotic statements.

Actually, this is exactly what happens.

If the president of a company is falsifying tax documents and such for a business and gets closed down by the federal government as a result, do you seriously think the government sits down and says “well, since we’re closing the company, we need to hire every one of the employees?”

Do you really think when a company goes bankrupt the employees are able to keep working at the (now closed) company?

Oh, I get your point now. What you meant is the opposite of what you said. What you meant is “this is what happens in real-life but it shouldn’t happen in games too because games aren’t real!”

When the heck does that happen? President/CEO steps down, maybe goes to jail, the board appoints a new one. The government sets up a payment plan, or forgives the debt. They arent going to get the owed taxes or any future taxes from a closed company, It’s in the government’s best interest financially, to work with the affected company.

Oh, he’d be the first to come out wailing and moaning, many people just like to wallow in the misfortune of others. This had 0 to do with other members of the guild, Anet doesnt want to provide adequate CS to help those other members of the guild that did NOT use the exploit.

January monthly achievement, are you serious?

Appears that you may have to do a portion of the puzzle to get credit.
Note last item about trigger point.
The newest update on wiki about jumping puzzles:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Monthly

“You “discover” a jumping puzzle by reaching a trigger point on the path to the end-chest for the achievement. You do not need to discover 30 unique jumping puzzles.

  • You can get credit for the same puzzle on multiple characters and for the same server on different shards, i.e. in multiple overflows as well as your home world.
    * You can discover a jumping puzzle even if you discovered and/or completed it before.
    * The trigger point can be near the end chest, at the entrance of the puzzle area, or anywhere in between."

Not so sure this multiple discoveries isnt an exploit. I know you can get ALOT of discoveries at the LA one, with all the overflows, I havent thus far because I dont want to get banned.

The only thing, imo, that is deserving of a permanent ban, note permanent, is a long series, of willful game abuses. Warning, with deleting the ill gotten gains, then warning with game suspension for x days (maybe a sliding scale here 7 days first, then month, ect), then ban. You should always give a customer a chance to turn it around, I’d say 2 chances, but other people obviously have different opinions.

You know what this is, Arenanet makes a mistake and sees that players won’t have to buy gems anymore so they remove em, as they are useless to them now…

Easily the silliest thing I have read today. I love how you think this is how companies work though lol. Tell me, in this company, do they also have a department for designing the ultimate Wacky Racer, and another dedicated to catching that darn pigeon?

I’m actually shocked you DONT think this is how companies work. Arenanet made a system where you can buy gold directly through them for real money, AND made gold very scarce in the game. Doesnt take a genius to see that anything that threatens the in game economy, and the scarcity of wealth is a threat to their bottom line.

As someone in a similar company, I can tell you there is no “evil corporation” department, only departments dedicated to producing great games, excellent customer service, and better and better products. People are delusional if they think companies go out of their way to make things uncomfortable for their customer.

The product is you, so you need to be treated with the utmost care and attention. It kind of scares me how few people have a realistic view of how the world works sometimes, thanks in part to hollywood movies and cartoons.

Money makes the world go round, that’s the way it has always been, and, for the foreseeable future at least, always will be. Corporations and businesses are about money, that’s what will get their attention the fastest, that’s not evil, that’s the way it is.

You seem to be reading to much into my post, I wasnt suggesting that Anet is some sort of Captain Planet villain, polluting the earth, just cuz they can. Something was a threat to their income, and they removed the threat, its not evil, it just IS.

Good job Anet. Cheaters will cheat if you let them. You should have kept the perma bans for the karma weapon exploit at launch and less people would continue to exploit. Keep the perma bans or all you will see is every cheater ramp up because they will know for sure they can get away with it.

For example, I found early on two items you could make while crafting that sold for 5 times what it cost to make. I knew tho this was an exploit and I reported it instead of using the exploit. Any person who did this snowflake exploit KNEW it was an exploit regardless what they say. They knew it couldn’t be intended.

I’d consider it cheating worthy of a perm ban if you couldnt spend X dollars and get 500g in gems and then trade them in, from doing nothing in game, at all.

And no, I did no do this exploit, and wasn’t banned.

Grenades and elixir U mostly

If he’s not doing that, his role in fractals is to step out of the way to let a real class take care of it.

Way to have no clue about other sides of the class…

SD/Rifle spec is great. Bursty burst on demand aswell as a kittenload of control for boss fights. Sustained damage compared to any other dps specced class. Some healing utility through medkit medpacks, extra fury buff (self or group memebers) and a tiny condition remover. High dodge rate, some block and pulls and such when needed.

I especially like it since I’m a charr, Instead of goggles, I use hidden pistol, the toolbar is wonderful! Jump in with rifle 5, blunderbuss, hidden pistol back jump out, double hidden pistol toolbelt burst/pretend i’m a thief =D.

Go for one of the static discharge builds. If you are charr, try out hidden pistol as one of your utilities, the toolbelt is VERY nice for some extra burst, especially when paired with static discharge.

Why this game has no dungeon finder?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Dantos.1065

Dantos.1065

A group finder for this game would not have the same effect that the dungeon finder in wow had. The primary reason being the lack of the “holy trinity” in this game. There are no healers or tanks in GW2. That is one of several reasons that the WoW dungeon finder made that game worse. When one or two roles is valued dramatically over another, then they feel privileged to be kitten-holes. Those over-valued roles also got instant groups in that dungeon finder system due to high demand. The profession system in this game has successfully prevented that from happening here.

To be fair, WoW had tanks selling their services to groups long before dungeon finder came out. Tanks and healers always got groups faster, dungeon finder just made it more quantifiable.

I agree with others, the story modes need some reason to go back there and do em, already I’m starting to see people just skip story modes and look for people who’ve done them already to open the explorable modes. What happens in 2-3 months when new players want to see story modes?

Just add some tokens to them. Especially since they are not consistently easier than the explorable paths.

as for finding a group for dungeons, Lion’s Arch is the default place where people look for groups, just say in map chat, LFG for AC/COF/whatever dungeon, story mode or explorable mode (which paths).

You can also try the map chat of the zones the dungeons are in.

Dantos.1065

I keep seeing, “social” aspect of WoW, honestly never really saw any significant social aspect when compared to other games like AO or EQ.

I remember in AO, people used to chat all the time in the Omni entertainment district, sell services, buffs, other items through chat. The bronto burger stand was the major gathering place. I used to sit in there for a while selling my metaphysist buffs and implant assembly skills. We had a list of the good crafters on our server, because crafting was a choice you made, you had one pool of points every time you leveled, you could invest those in either crafting or combat skills, so crafters had to kitten themselves in combat to be good at crafting, not many people did it, so dedicated, high level crafters were that much more rare. WoW just seemed like IF/Shatt was full of trolls and LFG spam.

IMO there was no significant server community in WoW before or after LFD. There were still ninjas before LFD, there were still people who dropped after bosses before LFD. Very few people, on my server at least, cared about reputation, you never saw anyone say “dont group with him hes a ninja” Maybe my server was just an abnormality, but I honestly didnt notice a difference pre to post LFD. After all the main purpose of running the dungeons was to gear up so I could raid with my guild, the community I actually cared about. In fact my average dungeon experience improved after LFD, sure there was the initial rush of Ninja-offspec rolls, but as time went on, certain social morays evolved, and people usually asked to roll on off spec pieces, not that that would be an issue here.

Dantos.1065

I find it quite funny that the people against dungeon finders are those that believe it would “destroy” the “social” aspect of Guild Wars 2. The irony being is that there really is no true “social” aspect to the game. Sure, there are the group events and all that good stuff, but how much of that actually results in some sort of conversation getting started or actual parties being formed?

Your logic is flawed here. You talk about LFG in dungeons and then cite DE as an example. I don’t have many social interactions during DE too, but in dungeons it’s been a completely different beast. Every dungeon I’ve been there’s been a lot of chatting before, during and after it’s done.

As it has been pointed out, when you find groups too easily you’ll also discard them too easily.

See I have had the opposite experience with dungeons, No one talks, the one group that did, was a group with 4 people who were in the same guild and were speaking Korean to one another (I dont speak it). Heck Ive done explorable, my first time, people rarely stop to explain things. We need to face it, server communities dont exist anymore, they exist in guilds and other small groups. This has happened because MMOs became mass market and have tons of widely varied people playing. Maybe in smaller niche games like Darkfall or Mortal might have good communities, but I havent seen it, myself, in a MMO in a LONG time.

I will say in TSW, it was very very easy to get a group, because 1) a single area connected the entire world and all top tier dungeons had entrances in this area, so everyone knew that was the place to get a group, and 2) chat was cross server and you could easily teleport to your group mates server. So you had the entire game population as a pool for grouping.

Here I have to check LA, port over to where the dungeon is to check that place for grouping, post back to mists and then to LA (to avoid fees)

I have also noticed a significant drop off in the people doing story modes, Ive done most of em, but I’m lacking CoE and Arah. I just worry for the future players who might want to see the story, but have an almost impossible time to get a group together for it.
