Question on Balance of Current Conditions

I think every necromancer has wondered this. I know I have. It seems like anet does not seem to quite grasp that idea – people make necromancers because they should be the kings of conditions. However, they are much more adept at boon stripping and sending conditions back to their enemies than actually stacking their own conditions onto the enemy.

sigh..

Elemental Attunement should NOT be a GM

Moving Ele attunement to GM is hilarious. In an effort to give “build diversity” you are just pigeon-holing the class more. Ele currently tanks up b/c base defense is bad. Nerfing one of the primary means of defense just exacerbates the problem.

It’s kind of like saying “all the food except for the bread is terrible, so throw that bread in the trash then there will be more options for people to eat!”

I have been saying for years that this is how ANet is approaching issues of so-called “cookie cutter builds”. Elementalists in particular are heavily penalized for finding a build that matches strength with those of other classes; people use that build because the class is weak, and ANet’s solution isn’t to empower other abilities, only to nerf the useful ones (and maybe throw “stun breaker” on a skill that nobody uses because it’s terrible).

Thank you for putting that in a beautiful analogy.

This.

ANet stated that Elemental Attunement and Evasive Arcana are core to the elementalist profession, thus a player should have to choose between one or the other. It doesn’t make sense. If these two are so vital to the elementalist, why not give us toned-down versions of these traits as baseline?

Make Elemental Attunement only apply to the caster. As for Evasive Arcana, I actually don’t think Evasive Arcana is all that powerful on its own. It’s only in conjunction with other traits (like elemental attunement and the heal on attuning to water) that makes Evasive Arcana so strong.

Now THAT would really open up new builds for elementalists. We would finally have some survivability inherently built into the class, allowing us to find more builds to play around with.

Glint may have multiple children

One thing that surprises me is how often people seem to assume that Glint only had one child. This is inferred by many people talking about Glint’s “child”, not children.

At the end of this episode (before the ending cinematic) the Pale Tree says something along the lines of “There is more than one.” Then the cinematic seems to show an egg-like object.

In GW1 we had to defend Glint’s child from Primordus’ destroyers. So I would assume that this child is still alive.

What if the Zepherites have an egg, but also protect Glint’s other child? Assuming that Glint’s child from GW1 is still alive, it would probably be too big to hide in an airship. What if Glint’s child AND Glint’s eggs are in the Maguuma area?

What if Glint has multiple eggs? Or if Glint’s child is able to create its own eggs? Oh, the possibilities!

Anise = Livia. GW2 Mystery.

“Or she could be referring to Jennah… or Livia. If she is referring to Livia, then that means Anise has met Livia, but also that they are two different people (unless she has a split personality). More likely she is referring to either herself or Queen Jennah. Heck, she could be referring to the White Mantle even.”

I’m not so sure that she would be referring to Jennah since she isn’t exactly someone I would describe as “ruthless”. However, Gadd was ruthless and efficient.

If she simply said “You remind me of Queen Jennah” then that would be fine. I see no reason why Anise would hide the name of whom he reminded her of. However, Countess Anise deliberately hides the name of the person whom she is referring to.

I imagine that Countess Anise does not want to say who he reminds her of BECAUSE doing so would give away her age. If she said Gadd, then the secret’s out.

“E” obviously stands for Evennia >_>

In all seriousness, does anyone know the general consensus of the community regarding who is “E”?

If Anet introduced the Mursaat back into the game I would be surprised that there have not been more obvious signs.

Considering that a large part of the player base seems to be looking forward to revisiting past areas, it would strike me as odd that Anet hasn’t made it obvious that we are going to be seeing Mursaat come back. Seems like a good selling point to me.

I wish they would be more direct in their cutscenes. I am growing tired of having to wonder what it is that they are alluding to. Just bring back the Mursaat, Glint’s child, and Cantha/Elona >_<

How to visit Crystal Desert?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Quoted from the Wiki.
“For most of recent history, Palawa Joko has maintained control of the entire Crystal Desert. However, after the Elder Undead Dragon, Zhaitan, rose from underneath Orr, the desert became a warzone between the two undead forces. Furthermore, when the Elder Crystal Dragon Kralkatorrik awoke and flew south in 1320 AE, it claimed the northern portions of the desert as its own. Joko has maintained control of the Desolation and a southern portion of Crystal Desert despite the two threats. The presence of Joko, Kralkatorrik and Zhaitan has cut off the land route from Tyria to Elona, except for the members of the Order of Whispers who have somehow bypassed this obstacle.”

At this point you can’t really visit the Crystal Desert. Many players desperately want to go there (myself included) but I’m not sure if Anet has stated if/when we will be able to go there.

Wow @the new traits for Ele

Water: This grandmaster trait is not for solo play. It is for those looking to be a group healer. Not all traits need to focus on turning the Ele into a Pow/Pres/Crit damage class. Just admit it is a great trait that you will probably not use because you don’t want to be a group healer.

Not gonna use it because there’s no NEED for a group healer. The problem with this trait isn’t the trait. It’s the fact that healers are useless.

I agree. Wasn’t Anet steering clear of the holy trinity? This trait seems to directly contradict one of their main goals with GW2.

I also don’t think it’s a really huge buff, either. All in all, I found this skill to be very unnecessary especially with all of the other problems the elementalist has (which this trait does not solve).

Maybe if this skill increased our self-healing by 15% as well, then it would be interesting. Even then I doubt it would be a big game-changer for the ele.

Bunker Elementalist?

This would be interesting to test out. It might even allow us to be effective bunkers.

And since we have some mobility, we could probably escape when overwhelmed.

Using flame axe or FGS while in earth attunement sounds like a good combo. Of course, the drawback there is that you can’t use the skills from other attunements while making use of this combo. It should be interesting, nonetheless.

Additionally, doesn’t Lightning Hammer add blinds? Imagine equipping LH, Signet of Restoration, and sitting in earth attunement with Stone Heart and that fire trait that applies burning on critical, which would then add blind as well (I could be wrong with this one). You’d be dishing out A LOT of blinds, taking regular damage, healing with every swing, and still have some ability to deal damage and CC.

Now THAT is something worth seeing.
