Red Team disadvantages due to Glider exploit?

This is now the second week that the Red Team in WvW faces the brunt of disadvantages due to “Glide into hostile objectives” exploits (e.g. Gliding from Pangloss to Ogrewatch, bypassing gates and walls rendering Ogrewatch indefensible).

Since Red Team is (by ranking) already the “weakest” Team, this adds even more disadvantages to them. Will there be any compensation for them / consequences for those that use the exploit (bypassing hostile gates & walls?) or will Arena.net just shrug and say “we don’t care, sucks to be you, don’t forget to buy the expansion”?

They said they will review gliding and make adjustments. If it’s clear that gliding is too much trouble to sort out then they will remove it altogether.

If you would like to post some screenshots and/or details as to what these exploits are then it would help to get them sorted or gliding removed. I know it might seem obvious to you and everyone else but this is a stating the bloomin obvious competition sometimes.

First and foremost, on EBG, if you control Pangloss you can glide straight into the upper level of Ogrewatch completely bypassing the walls and gate.

Yes but you aren’t stating exactly from point A to point B.

What you should be saying is that if you control pangalos you can exit toward Veloka and take an immediate left when you come out of the mine and go up the hill. Then you can activate a decent duration stability skill and glide from the top of that hill into Ogrewatch landing on the path that goes to the lords room facing the bridge.

On a side note, not been in EBG since the gliding change, my poor ogrewatch what have they done to you!

I personally don’t want to see this game mode thrown into any type of faction-based WvW, and before you post a reply that I haven’t read your entire post, I have read it. I have also read (in their entirety) many other threads from the past suggesting faction-based WvW. No matter how the ideas are packaged, they all still boil down to a model similar (ish) to EotM. Not a fan.

I do agree that we need a path to legendary gear.

Seasons need to return to WvW on a regular basis.

Ok, but what are players here going to do when Camelot Unchained launches with 3 unique factions, far superior world map mechanics, an RvR underworld, unique and customizable classes (per side) that are built and balanced solely for pvp and rvr warfare, an engine that can handle 1,500 bot battles currently… and is the predecessor to Dark Age of Camelot that gw2 wvw was modeled after?

Think the players here are still going to be happy with a gw2 that juggles individual servers with linking, the same old limited and boring maps, professions built and balanced around pve first, an enginge that can’t handle 200 players fighting in the same area…?

Either gw2 needs to get rid of the old model, and all of the major flaws that go with it, to compete with what’s coming, or the precious wvw as we know it will be hit hard by a game that is 100% designed for pvp and rvr.

Someone drank the Koolaid…..

That has nothing to do with what I’m saying, and you totally miss the point… It will drop eventually, so how is anet going to compete and keeps players for wvw? Do you want a dead wvw mode? You prefer anet wait until critical levels before they do something? Development takes time, just like it took 2 years to drop this new xpac, so this needs to be discussed sooner than later.

You seem to assume a lot.

1. Don’t assume CU is coming anytime soon or that it will actually be decent. Waaaaaaaaay too early to tell .

2. Don’t assume to know what I prefer.

Transfers, Links, and Population Data

There is no guarantee what so ever that eliminating and recreating the WvW servers will produce an even distribution. Too many players and guilds want to play in the upper tiers and eventually they will end up there and you will see a similar outcome; top heavy population distribution.

If population balancing across all WvW tiers is the goal, then there needs to be an incentive for people to transfer AWAY from the T1 servers. I see two possible means of achieving this.

1. Make the T1 experience more difficult. If you make it more difficult to access WvW (smaller map population caps and thus longer ques) or more difficult for zergs to function (reduce max squad size) the disgruntled players could seek greener pastures. This method is fundamentally problematic as it is predicated on a negative in-game experience and is just as likely to drive people away from the game entirely. THEREFORE: making the game suck more just to get people to move servers is a bad idea.

2. Incentives for playing on non population locked servers. Giving your player base a reward for doing something that is healthy for the game itself could be a win-win, the trick is finding a strong enough incentive to motivate people to actually transfer without making that reward absurdly high. Not only that, but incentivize the players that AREN’T transferring to the top tier servers so they have a reason to stay and help build a community in the other tiers. Possible incentives would be bonus pips, bonus reward track progress, bonus WvW XP.

Until people have a legitimate reason to leave a top tier server, they won’t.

Shortbow leveling build

Hey guys, old player coming back after a long break, and I’m wanting to level up my lowbie ranger. I really enjoy the shortbow weapon, and would like to make a build around it. I mostly run traps for my utilities right now, only lvl 25 or so.

Anywho, what traits would you reccomned and what stats for gear? Condition damage I’m guessing? Thanks in advance!

Bah, forgot to fill in gear section. Gear is mostly Valk and some Knights with runes focusing on boon duration, sigil of battle and sigil of blood. But ya, the choice between air CD reduction and increased damage to low health targets was the one I wasn’t real sure about. After playing with it some in game (just farming some mobs and what-not, no PvP yet) I’m liking it a lot. Shocking Aura is almost always up when I need it to be, which saves the water aura as more of an “oh $%^&” scenario skill, and RtL being on a shorter CD is pretty fun =) I’ll try running with Bolt to the Heart later today. Thanks!

I went with condition removal on attune for the group effect, but CD reduction is a strong possibility. The reason I chose the 20% reduction on abilities in Air isn’t for direct DPS increase, it puts shocking aura on a 20 sec CD instead of 25, RtL down to 12. It’s more aura goodness (fury and swiftness more sustainable uptime), but 20% more damage to low health targets was my second choice. Still playing with it in game. Thanks for the response!

Since the nerf to might stacking with evasive arcana, I was looking for a different twist on the build, and came up with this. I just can’t find a third trait in the arcane line that I like enough to justify spending 30 points in it. Thanks in advance for looking, and drop some feedback on me plz =)

The point about Altruistic Healing triggering off of virtue of justice was something i was unsure about. I really like the idea of Altruistic Healing, but I’m not sure if I would be triggering it very often with this weapon set up. I was also considering something like this

Hi guys! I have a guardian I have been leveling up, mainly using GS (I know, real original) and I have really enjoyed the playstyle. You dont get a response from the in game filing system. It says that right in the report form. I doubt theyre even read most of the time.

As far as getting a response from anet on the forums? Ha.

You are missing the point………

The two easiest ways to communicate with a customer is going to be through their own website (forums/PM what have you) or through an in-game mail or message. The next easiest way is by the registered email address on the account that filed the ticket. I have received no response from any of these possible communication lines, it doesn’t have to be via forum post or in-game, those are just two possibilities, but thanks for your help =p

I filed an in-game bug report because it was the only “ticket” or “claim” if could find within the UI. Is there any other course of action that a player can utilize for a refund of this bogus transaction?

Happened to me this morning. Been playing since BWEs and have NEVER had a single instance of accidentally purchasing something while trying to preview an item.

I shall simply attach a screenshot of my server holding 100% of WvW maps and leave it at that. We are very organized and very efficiently lead. Ignorance is bliss.

O…k? What did you prove exactly? All I can see are a population imbalance and somebody “uninformed; unaware” that his own server has the problems that he says the other servers have.

Simply, for you; I am saying that we do not have those problems.

The team who was crushed and demoralized would blame server imbalance. It’s ok though, it will all be over tomorrow and you will have another world come in and show you what I was trying to say. It’s ridiculous to say the world that owns 95% of the map(at the time of this post) has problems with coordination and managing their team.

This thread should be closed, the week is over, you guys refused to make an alliance. There is no further reason to post here.

It is comments like this that gives JQ the reputation it is establishing on the forums. How many conspiracy theory threads about JQ getting double teamed did we see last week? So, you get knocked down a tier, dominate the competition and come here to make boasts like this? I hope some of the HoD guys are reading this thread. I hope they see how JQ handles success. This is pretty weak coming from one of the highest pop servers. Karma is kitten, a big, mean kitten.
