PVP should be about killing people.
Because you say so?
If PvP was only about killing the enemy, why would holding and capturing locations ever give you points? Why do these points exist at all? They exist because the win condition of GW2 PvP is earning those 500 points, not killing enemies.
There’s no such thing as an “artificial meta” (whatever that means lol.) There are only the rules of the game, and the strategies built around those rules to improve the chances of winning by those rules. And just because you choose not to like the rules of the game, does not mean everyone else (including the game designers) needs to bend over backwards to make your opinion the correct one.
But these armors are needlessly expensive for its stats.
That’s the point—no-one is buying cultural armour/weapons for the stats; they’re buying them for the unique look that cannot be found anywhere else.
They are expensive because they are luxury items i.e. items you only look to buy once you already have a full set of level 80 exotic/ascended gear and just want to customise your character to look perfect as well.
Sports/luxury cars are expensive for the exact same reason; you sure as hell do not need something that expensive to drive to work 5 days a week.
Why don’t you try enjoying the game for what it’s supposed to be? Instead of narrowing your outlook to only focus on rewards, and thinking of everything else as a chore…
This game is not about farming, grinding, nor finding the most optimal zombie grinding map in the game and repetitively traversing the same path over and over just to clear endgame content as quickly as possible. This game is about exploration, adventure and discovery. Go out to other maps; run around and smell the virtual roses. Try to enjoy the actual game instead of trying to cut 90% of the fun to get to the final 10% as quickly as possible.
The Trading Post exists for a reason. There are other people who enjoy the element of randomness, and also other people who enjoy zombie grinding and farming. If you aren’t one of them, you aren’t forced to do it. Just sell the items you don’t need and buy the items you do.
There’s no good reason to rush for anything in this game.

Grabs bags, luck dips, mystery chests and lottery tickets are not something that ANet magically came up with; in fact, they’re in almost every single MMO that wants to stay out of the red at the end of the month. And in every game that has this feature, it’s usually the one that makes the most money and receives the most complaints.
Don’t worry gambling addicts, ANet already knows you gullible fools will be back with another $200 of Christmas presents for them.
How is in-game currency being drained from the economy? One player is selling and another is buying. Isn’t that just moving the currency around?
Tax.
You have to remember that this isnt meant to be a pve game.
lol.
Is there a game where crafting isn’t a tedious bore with only max level perks as a reason to even do it? Because it sure hasn’t been any of the games that I’ve played.
Monster Hunter.
