I’m sorry that you’re going through this too..it’s really frustrating. Still no fix either.
Tried on another (older) Macbook Pro as well with the same Internet connection etc and the trading post works for them, so I’m not sure what is going on with ours. I wish this would be fixed, or we could be given some directions on how to deal with this problem ourselves, or at least have the problem noticed and addressed by a dev.
Hi!
By any chance is there a fix for the below issue? I’m using 10.7.5 on a Macbook Pro from 2012.
Every time I open up the trading post/currency exchange/gem store window, it times out and I can’t access any of them. Then the screen goes darker after 30 seconds of trying to load one of those three tabs. If I click out of this trading post window, it freezes the game and I have to force quit the application.
I’ve tried deleting the cache and it hasn’t helped. I also tried repairing the game via Mac utility and it hasn’t done anything.
Is this a known issue? Would love to fix this somehow.
Thanks so much!
Hey all,
Just checking in to let everyone know we believe we have identified the issue and we are working on getting it in the next hotfix. If this changes, I will let everyone know.
I also want to let you know that uninstalling/reinstalling the client will not fix this crash, so I just ask that everyone hang tight until we can get this fix rolled out to you all.
I appreciate everyone’s patience as I know how frustrating this can be.
-Matt
Thank you so much!
I hadn’t been on GW2 in a while due to RL schedule (To be honest, the new hairstyles are what tempted me but now I’m up and – trying – to play again! ) and was a bit upset to find that I crashed every 5 minutes. I’m glad it’s being looked into! Thanks!!
When I first saw a discussion about this on Reddit, I honestly thought it was a joke because there was no way that ArenaNet would implement an incarnation of cultural armor that wasn’t, well, cultural, in the gem store. I decided to click the image and realized that it was indeed real and the only words I said aloud were “What the…”
I’m pretty disappointed with the decision to implement T3 light armor for humans in the cash shop because it isn’t different enough from the already existing cultural armor and it defeats the purpose of choosing a particular race for their cultural armor.
The half-hearted implementation of T3 light armor re-skinned for all races with a few lackluster fiery flame effects feels indicative of ArenaNet’s current attitude and it makes me not want to partake in supporting this company anymore, I only stay for the community that seems to have mutual feelings as me.
We’ve yet to hear word of a full expansion when Tyria is a vast world with plenty of locations (and continents!) to open up, participate in any events pertaining to the dragons in (what was supposed to be) the main storyline, and were told that character customization was a high priority. I don’t feel like mediocre re-skinning and lack of tying any of these living stories into the main storyline really depict the Guild Wars 2 I initially looked forward to and was sold on.
This ploy to earn cash via allowing a pantyskirt and bra with flames (among other re-skins) once lauded as prestigious to humans only, is very short-sighted and ultimately denotes their lack of respect and awareness of what the community wants, and their regard for their game in the long run.
I loved this in Ragnarok Online and even with all of the young players in that game, no one sat around spamming you with marriage requests for in-game benefits. It really had no bad side effects to the game and was super cute, but very expensive – and if I recall, the divorce even more so. I’d love something like this sort of in-game partnership in Guild Wars 2.
I don’t play a ranger but I have a parent who does, and she loves this game & her ranger. Whenever we discuss game content, she almost always points out that she’d love the thrill of tracking down a cosmetically rare pet and having more pets to hunt for in general.
I definitely think that this should be considered in the future by ArenaNet to liven things up for the rangers and would provide much fun for them. This game puts so much emphasis on cosmetics and the ranger’s pet shouldn’t be left behind in this.
Noooo animu is not allowed in GW2.
I fail to see how a suggestion for pink shades and ombre hair among those mentioned by other posters results in a response about not wanting anime in GW2. Variety and freedom of character design are part of GW2 as demonstrated by the many, many dyes we have offered and our character’s hair color selections should also branch out to have even more variety too.
These suggestions in the post and anime aren’t really related to begin with. Regardless, people have a right to be inspired by anything even if anime is their muse when designing their in-game character. There’s plenty of people with alternative hair colors RL (me included at a time) to make this not a post suggesting that anime needs to be implemented in GW2 by any means.
The purpose of this post is to express an overall want for more offerings for our character’s hair color spectrum range in the future – not specifically anime – hopefully soon.
I agree with everyone’s suggestions! Various shades of red in a red hair color implementation could easily include shades of pink while satisfying those who want more shades of red if ArenaNet sees fit.
Green would be super awesome too for non-Sylvari races, just any fantasy colors would be ideal in general. I feel so bored with blonde, brown, etc and the smaller array of fantasy colors that were implemented a while ago – they were a great step toward more variety, but it’s definitely time for some new ones.
Maybe a red series of hair to celebrate the upcoming winter holiday which includes bubblegum pink, dusty rose pink, etc as a shade of red? ArenaNet could technically include green hair offering as a relevant holiday color too.
That too would be a great idea to add ombre hair! I think though that just re-texturing the hair to have a secondary color wouldn’t be too difficult either. I’m for either method of implementation.
The more options the better and fantasy colors look amazing with more ‘out there’ dye schemes that don’t execute as well with the same drab brown, blonde, red, black, gray, etc current hair offerings.
I can’t wait for the day where we get more hair colors – I know blue and purple are well-liked colors, but shades of pink (and beyond) I believe would be even more prominently picked and desired.
Yes, please! Red eyes would go beautifully with many dye combinations and would overall be an awesome color to add, I’m surprised it isn’t part of the eye color selection already as we have a plethora of fantasy purple shades yet lack a red.
Hi! My suggestion is simple: To implement more hair colors for purchasing in the future when an individual buys a style kit of any sort – or however way ArenaNet would wish to implement future customization options.
I think the blues and purples were a great start but we’re missing pink! Dusty rose, hot pink, magenta – any pink, I think we definitely need pink added to our wide array of colors offered in Tyria. Other colors as well but I think pink would be a popular choice.
More complex hair color suggestions also include ombre (hair fading from dark to light, generally natural tones such as brown to blonde & vice-versa), overall two-toned hair colors of any variety, or hair fading to various shades of a color like a gradient.
I think the character customization in Guild Wars 2 is so wonderful but there should be more colors; I see many, many characters with the new(ish?) blues and purples so plenty are definitely supportive of fantasy-colored hair, and these colors accentuate dye palettes tailored for these unnatural colors so well.
Customization is a driving factor in the game as we grow attached to our characters through their unique looks sculpted through the character creator and through our characters’ misadventures in Tyria collecting gear and dyes for a perfect combination. Because of this, I see no reason not to implement more customization options, especially something so simple to add such as a new series of hair colors or so.
Thank you for reading my suggestion and hopefully one day my main can sport some dusty rose hair among the other pink-haired Tyrians!
I never used Outfitter but I did utilize the feature to store various outfits (I’m a giant collector of gear, I can’t help myself : ) in said game, and it really motivated me to wear my pretty gear sets I had earned from old dungeons around down. Without that armor save feature and the ability to press a simple button to change wardrobe entirely, I never would have bothered playing more to collect the gear to make those pretty sets.
And I so agree; any way this is implemented, the option would be so welcome. Whether gems or another means, I’m certain many would be so excited to have this feature especially as Guild Wars 2 lauds cosmetic rewards more so than the other game mentioned.
Guild Halls would for sure add another layer of depth and community to any guild with one. Even if a guildy doesn’t wish to partake in any of the current Living World things, they can always hang out with others in the hall and have even more of an incentive to login.
I started GW1 when it was first released and after joining my first guild, I found Guild Halls to be one of the unique aspects of the game that really tied my large guild together, I was always surprised that other games never implemented it as it really was /that/ awesome.
At least GW2 has GW1 to live up to and ArenaNet will hopefully add it as it seems so necessary with the game titled “Guild” Wars (Yes, I know it’s based off of lore that it received its title, but to a player unfamiliar with lore, it seems ridiculous not to have a Guild Hall in “Guild” Wars) and from the importance of Guild Halls in the original game.

In a heartbeat. I started GW1 only a week or two after Prophecies launched, but I only began to really and truly love GW once Factions came out. Instantly, I was enchanted with the beauty of Cantha and its hustle and bustle in Kaineng, the seas of jade with the Luxons, and the perpetual stone forest with the Kurzicks.
Not to mention the prettiest and most ornate armors, imo, came from Kurzick and Luxon factions. Everything about Cantha was beautiful and balanced, there was such an extraordinarily gorgeous variety in scenery.
Hearing an announcement about Cantha would make me the happiest GW2 player ever in all honesty.
Don’t know if that’s going to happen anytime soon. They want players to buy more bank tabs for those kinds of things. But if they are going to do something like that they’re going to add a PvE Locker, like the PvP Locker which stores all weapons, armours, sigils, runes etc.
Not sure if the suggestion is being understood fully here but at least for me, I have no trouble eventually finding the armor whether in my bank or elsewhere, however I like to mix/match various gears in a specific way. It’d just make life easier in this aesthetics-focused game to have a secondary armor set saved so that players can always quickly show off these secondary sets without having to remember the specific names of each, hunt each piece down no matter a locker or a bag, then equip them.
As far as “buying” goes, I’d be so down with buying this secondary armor-only set to switch to and I’m sure others would be too as who wouldn’t want the option of ease in switching out specific armor sets that are a splash of various gear acquired from a myriad of places?
It just gets to be a ton of hassle when you’re wearing pieces from numerous sets and having to remember names of each set or their icons, and it leaves you unmotivated in wanting to switch gear. Ultimately this process as it stands now ends up a tedious chore in dressing your character up when cosmetic achievements and overall appearance have such significance.
There really should be an easier way to celebrate various blends of armor sets we’ve acquired without having to rummage through bags and bank slots seeking it and trying to recall the tasteful way in which we planned out that specific set on said character.
Hi! I hadn’t seen any suggestion post like this so here goes mine:
I adore collecting the various sets of armor in this game, it really makes dungeon-running epic through playing with friends and having that incentive of collecting full sets along the way and mixing/matching.
However, it’s really frustrating to have to equip each set, piece by piece, without having a way to save a set or so for ease in switching character appearances.
I’d love to suggest a way to save even just one additional armor set. Perhaps having a button next to the Town Clothing in the Equipment [H] window to store this additional set would be best? The second armor option would be strictly for armor for emphasis on the secondary set being for cosmetic purposes, no weapons/jewelry/etc to possibly meddle with current game mechanics.
To be honest, I’m quite surprised that something like this isn’t already implemented as the game for plenty is focused on aesthetic rewards but doesn’t cater to allowing players to quickly change to various sets of cosmetic gear.
Thank you so much for reading my suggestion. Hopefully one day players will have a way to show off not just the same set of armor already equipped, but a secondary set as well for ease of varying aesthetic appearances while wandering Tyria.
This has happened every time we were midway through the Vevina fight as well, but only made us crash the first time per every time we took this path. The game crashes and brings up some error about a missing .DLL (I’ll find out which it is when my group does this again potentially tomorrow).
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

This system affects more than WvWvW – I couldn’t even find my own friend near the bank at Divinity’s Reach when he wanted to check out my new gear! A similar system like this exists in Second Life, but at least in SL, it has an icon to show an avatar is there with a nameplate but loading unlike GW2 which gives no indication of any player existing who hasn’t yet loaded and as a result, makes the entire world look empty despite all the beautiful work you put into implementing NPCs and making the world feel “alive.”
In Second Life as well, there’s a check-off option to turn this on/off or prioritize avatars loading over other things and it makes life easier – those who want more FPS and less lag can have just nameplates above where avatars will load (and for those who REALLY want FPS and never have those avatars load, there’s an option to create phantom avatars to replace the high-quality version of the characters around), and those who want to see the world for as populated as it is despite any potential FPS loss too can win and have their way.
I know SL isn’t GW2, but I think it’s even more important in a MMORPG world to make it feel alive and make players feel like there’s a community existing in front of their screen instead of seemingly invisible. This breaks immersion in large cities and is honestly frustrating to not find my friends who stand literally beside my character on the map.
It would be really awesome to disable this horrendous color profile in a future incarnation of the Mac client, the game looks worlds better without the overly bluish hues and washed out look.
(And thank you for explaining what the issue is, I appreciate it!)
Sorry to post so much in this subforum but I’m honestly overjoyed to play on Mac and want to contribute as much as I can.
Maybe it’s the fact I’m on my Mac side, with its brilliant gamma and overall color scheme versus the dreary gamma of Windows Boot Camp that never feels right, but it seems like GW2 is way less vibrant than the rest of my Mac desktop, especially when you can compare it to other things running via the windowed mode.
Does anyone else also feel like the game isn’t as bright and colorful as other games on Mac? The game feels like it has more ‘blue’ in its lighting like you’d expect from Windows and less contrast than other games do.
Forgive me for not being able to pinpoint the exact issue, but I hope these comments can help whoever is working on this Mac client perfect it so it’s both running smoothly while being as physically beautiful as possible.
- I’ve also tried altering the gamma through the in-game slider and it still appears very off, and quite washed out color-wise.
Edit: When I play in windowed mode on this client, the other applications running also turn this bluish hue in the background, including my blue wallpaper that turns an even deeper blue, nut once I tab out of windowed Mac GW2, the blue hue disappears. Just tested this on a blank TextEdit too and watched the white of the TextEdit fade to blue as I tabbed into windowed GW2.

It did, thank you so much! It doesn’t seem as smooth as zooming in on bootcamp, but it works.
Same! Neither the touchpad for mac laptop nor a mouse scroll wheel work at all, and worked fine on bootcamp.
Hey! I’m so happy that there’s a GW2 Mac client now, even if it’s in its beta stage. I thought I’d have to wait years to have this so I’m super happy!
I prefer playing with a touchpad (and am extremely adept with it for all those nay-sayers!) due to a physical condition and I was really hoping that the mac client would fix the issues using a touchpad in Boot Camp previously.
I had issues with GW1 and touchpad as well in Boot Camp – but not with Wineskin GW1 on mac side – so I assumed it was the same ordeal in GW2 and it’s true, the touchpad works waaay better with the mac client but is there any way to currently zoom in with the touchpad? The normal ‘zoom in’ I can do with other games that have a mac client doesn’t seem to work at all so I wonder if I’m missing something.
Hurray though! At least the touchpad works better and there’s hope for it in the future! And if anyone has figured out zooming in with a touchpad, that’d be so amazing and same my hands the pain of having to grasp onto a mouse.
Hugs,
Deer
Edit: The mouse scroll to zoom in doesn’t work either! Is anyone else experiencing this? It doesn’t seem as though you can zoom in at all with the mouse or the touchpad.

Firstly, I’d really love to have a lot more town clothing available to us, I think it’s an awesome concept but really there’s not much to distinguish people from one another with the current gem store and overall options for the town clothing that the player can obtain at this time.
I did however see this really awesome Ringmaster’s Hat in the gem store and as much as I’d love to buy it, it doesn’t have an outfit to go with it! It seems so out of place with the current clothing options offered.
By any chance will it be in future plans to implement the outfits we see such as the circus folk in Divinity’s Reach to match this awesome hat? I totally wouldn’t mind buying a set and it would really suit my human whose biggest regret was never joining the circus.
If it isn’t in the works, it ought to be as the hat doesn’t match anything else very well at this time! Here’s to more town clothing in the gem store and in Tyria in general in some form or another.
Hopefully now more people will want to do the other dungeons with me (among other players who didn’t wish to be another lamb in the easy CoF) and not be so confined to their beloved path #2 CoF.
It has been a shame that the other dungeons have had such issues attracting players due to everyone focusing on the 1-2 dungeons that had a very noticeable advantage on the others.
I really look forward to playing with all of you and seeing all of the cosmetic dungeon gear boasted in the cities instead of just fiery flame everywhere.

No. They couldn’t, and they don’t need to.
The problem with the idea of instanced large-group dungeons (aka raids) is that it will instantly create an elitist sub-class of players in the community. Pretty sure that goes against the game’s design goals.
How is there an opportunity for players to act elitist though if there’s no extra benefits from partaking in a larger group? Everyone gets the same amount of badges from the chest, the same drops as a 5-man, with the only benefit being getting to invite more friends to go on dungeon misadventures together if they so wish.
There’s something I don’t feel like I’m understanding with this thread as some individuals tend to get defensive once the term “raiding” is announced and maybe “raiding” isn’t the proper term to use with the suggestion? (I too am not particularly fond of the “raids” of other games and the anger and hostility associated with gear upgrades/pitting friends against each other indirectly/etc, this is why I enjoy GW2 so much; I’ve raided quite a bit in the past and I have absolutely -no- desire to hop on the gear treadmill, engage in guild/loot council politics, and vertical progression ever again and GW2 will never have these problems even if the term “raid” is used to describe a larger person dungeon.)
The way I’m thinking of a “raid” is just a current explorable scaled for a larger amount of people with no advantages (or disadvantages) for doing this. It’s for people who have additional friends than 5-mans whose friends that can’t join the current 5-man group have a way of feeling more part of their other friends’ GW2 experiences in PVE. There’s no loot benefits, everyone is getting cosmetic gear still, it ideally would be tuned to be the same difficulty which would probably be the hardest part to achieve, there’s really no reason to not want this feature in my eyes other than a caution toward a larger group having an easier time with encounters than a 5-man, which would be up to ArenaNet to fine tune.
Would people offended rather call it scaled dungeons over “raiding?” All of the negative connotations that come with traditional raiding can be ignored in GW2 as the game is designed around horizontal progression, not around gear upgrades besides cosmetic with equally distributed badges per player in the chests without pitting friends up against each other in a ragefest that can occur in raids over a gear. Would that make people prefer the idea better if it wasn’t called a “raid?” I know raiding sucks in other games to very many people, but my interpretation of this thread was just the instances used now scaled to fit a larger group of people and I feel like there’s a lot of subjective answers to the OP merely because of the word “raid.”
Doubtful that anyone here neither dislikes GW2 nor wants to move to another game (Why is this even suggested? It’s obvious people here adore this game and wish for it to prosper in any facet we can suggest or debate via the forum, all out of love.) as some have stated when the word “raid” is used, but it’d be awesome to see this scaled option introduced one day for players to have the ability to enjoy dungeons with a larger group of friends and it really isn’t harmful – or unproductive – at all to propose this to ArenaNet as nowhere did they say 100% that scaled dungeons couldn’t be a possibility for the future.
With a desire for GW2 flourish and succeed furthermore, it wouldn’t harm anyone to cater to as many peoples’ needs as possible and this suggestion doesn’t seem unreasonable. Once in a while for instance, I would enjoy playing with more than 4 other people and letting a dungeon unfold with plenty of my friends who don’t have anyone to play with due to the small instances, but I too don’t mind the 5-man either in its current state as sometimes a smaller-sized dungeon is peaceful and makes you feel special in being part of a smaller crowd. But generally, the more options the better to suit both people like me who could play in any scale or people who do sorely miss having their dungeon misadventures with a larger throng of friends to PVE without any scale having any special benefits or cons nor hindering the current state of 5-mans.
Just making sure I understood this thread correctly and why some people are saying “no!” to dungeon scaling while offering my own perspective of the thread as I understood it. Hugs!
(edited by Deer.1504)
They need dungeons that take more than 5 people.
For a supposedly social game, it doesn’t feel very social.
I agree, for the wonderful scaling this game offers depending on how many people are present in the area, I’m surprised they haven’t added a dungeon scaling yet to cater to both small 5-man parties up to 20-man parties (random number, I’m sure ArenaNet would have a more suitable number if scaling was implemented) for those who have a bigger crowd of friends who want to stick together.
I don’t understand why a handful of people are anti larger dungeons in this game, using reasons like “it promotes elitism” to back up their disdain for larger-sized dungeon scaling when this game is tailored to not promote elitism that is acquired through gear (and vertical progression, something GW2 doesn’t really cater to) that makes your character better than someone who does 5-man of the same dungeon. Players would still be equal with no loot/badge advantage from playing in a larger group assuming scaled dungeons were balanced 100% in a perfect world.
Balanced dungeon scaling would encourage friends overall to play together no matter if they have a smaller group of friends or a larger group, and not force friends to have to “choose” who they want to bring in the petite 5-man size, leaving other friends behind to pug, get frustrated they weren’t chosen for this small group, or find a game elsewhere where they can play with all of their friends at once.
(edited by Deer.1504)
I enjoyed pugging each story mode and I’m enjoying going through the explorable content with a group of friends I’ve played previous games with, we’ve had issues but it’s been fun overcoming the challenge of the dungeons and is much more rewarding than if there were no difficulty or challenge at all. As soon as we removed our glass cannon trait setups and started utilizing condition removal skills for particular dungeons, everything went very smoothly.
Communication too is key in explorable and many times pugs don’t wish to communicate which is why story-mode is puggable but explorer mode may not necessarily be so for each of the dungeons currently offered.
I’m by no means a ‘raidpr0’ or anything, I’m just an average player who doesn’t give up and enjoys a good challenge with other average friends who like the MMO genre, and we thoroughly enjoyed majority of the explorable modes and the rewarding feeling when we conquered what others deemed ‘impossible encounters’ via these forums and so many others.
(edited by Deer.1504)
But would anyone be opposed to having the current dungeons scale to accommodate for those with a larger number of friends wishing to explore instances together? Assuming in a perfect world it’d be 100% balance with the current 5-man, of course.
Some individuals prefer smaller crowds while others like the rowdiness of a larger crowd and that option could cater to both without enabling any form of elitism as it’s just the same instance scaled to fit the larger group of friends wishing to play together while not hindering those who prefer partaking in a smaller group.
(edited by Deer.1504)
I wouldn’t mind bigger dungeon sizes (scaling) to cater to those with a larger set of friends who want to uncover an instance together, I totally understand that and it was a primary concern of mine coming into GW2 with a love for being in a big group of excited MMO-ers ready to explore a dungeon together and have rowdy fun over voice chat.
I think the dungeons should scale depending on the amount of people inside and maybe have a limit of 5-20 people? It’d make all parties happy and with the loot system offered in GW2, a larger scale dungeon would never encourage the hostile behavior or catty loot council issues that other MMORPGs unfortunately suffer from and loot rewards are badges equally distributed with other items a mere cosmetic advantage (no gear treadmill to dislike your fellow comrade over), so it’d be a win-win for all individuals whether enjoying GW2 dungeons with a tight-knit group or a larger group.
