Hey I was there You did an awesome job, Arc!

I played WvW literally all day (farming badges) and while we got stomped most of the time, there were some endearing moments when us Maguumans banded together and kicked kitten . Even SBI and our server had somewhat of an alliance going after DB. Shoutout to all our great Commanders on Maguuma!

But the rankings are screwed and a lot of us miss Yaks xD

This is also happening to me with Hide in Shadows. However, when I have Shadow’s Embrace (removes condition every 3 secs in stealth) up and go stealth it takes it off just fine.

I’ve recently returned to the game, I’m level 80 already too. But I can’t seem to decide on what build I want to stay with. I mainly PvE and WvW and would also like to start running dungeons. I honestly have only did maybe one or two dungeons but would like to be viable there too.

Currently I’ve tried conditions with D/D and P/D, S/P with decent damage and survivability through Valk gear, and a more squishy burst D/D build with 30 in Crit and 30 in Sa. I really like conditions as I can kite my enemy while their health ticks away but I was told it isn’t great for dungeons. I don’t care too much for S/P since its mostly standing in one spot spamming 3. With the D/D backstab build I’m having a good bit of fun and like taking things out with a few hits but I am pretty squishy even with 30 in SA.

I apologize if my post seems vague or messy. I would just like advice on what would be a viable build to run for PvE/WvW/Dungeons.

Edit: I should also mention that I’ve tried S/D and don’t care for it in PvE, maybe it would work in WvW for me. I also haven’t tried D/P but have heard good things about it so it may be worth trying. I’ve spent a good chunk of my gold on several sets of armor so I need to narrow it down xD

Been playing this a long while but only just getting to 80 on my thief, here is what I’ve settled on through much experimentation. No idea what gear etc to go for, but this here is basically how I’m set up. I intended to go for a kinda all-rounder as I don’t generally have the time to tailor different alts and builds for WvW, PvP, PvE, PvD, DnD, CoD, OmG, WtF etc…

It’s pretty satisfying to play, less reliant on stealth than what I tend to see of the thief and more to do with slipping through your enemy’s fingers and being pretty much uncatchable, whilst keeping up constant damage on them (by necessity of healing so as to not die). Great for taking on big groups in PVE with the SB and coming out near enough unharmed, soloing a big mob is great with D/D and P/P, and I’ve even had a go in WvW and not had my kitten totally handed to me (wow!) generally just harassing people and being a pain in people’s rear as they try to kill me and I dodge around them all day.

But yeah I have totally no idea at all what kinda gear to use; there’s so much choice! Any pointers of a good place to start experimenting with this kinda build?

I was running pretty much the same build, I just came back to the game so I have tried to pick up something new. Right now I’m running S/P and I feel like Im just sitting there all the time. Before I was always dodging around :/ I might go back.

I’m no expert, but I think Carrion armor is what you would want.

I don’t know if this goes for every class since I’ve just played a thief in SPVP but certain major traits will reset randomly. Specifically Trickery 10 and Deadly Arts 20 major traits. This even happens during gameplay as I noticed my caltrops weren’t dropping on dodge, I looked and I had nothing set for those two even though I had set them prior to entering a game.

I don’t see what the problem is since we started with the hood in the first place and they made it so it is unrecoverable.

I run a DB build so to speak, so its essentially my main skill. I can use it about 6 times with the help of my other skills.

This happens too and it is quite annoying, hope its fixed

Early game I think steal is good for just shadowstep but it really shines once you start adding traits. And I find that I know what just about every icon does by now, some are meh but others are very helpful.

I’m able to get 3 initiative and poison my enemy when I steal.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking about it and figure it will give me something to do once I hit 80 and have finished the rest of the map

Is there any simple way to complete the map in WvWvW? It’s really difficult since everyone is basically concentrated on battle and I just want to complete my map. I don’t understand why they added vistas and things here. PvE players are going to have a hard time getting 100% map completion unless they want to tough it out in Wvw. Please correct me if I’m wrong about something.

I just entered wvw for the first time since playing and was stunned when I saw all the skills points and such to get. In fact I had to team up with an enemy player just to get one of the skill points. It’d be nice if there were a spectator mode or something for those who just want to enjoy the world since it does count towards world completion.
