Well, truth be told, every race seems to exaggerate when dealing with basic problems… Gravity defying platforms as stairs for the asuras, for instance.
That’s not something we can decide for you, sadly, but if you are interested in any of:
- Bioluminescent Armor
- Achievement points
- Achievement related trinkets
- Story (and here I cannot say if you would like it or not, since it is a matter of tastes)
Then you should buy it as long as it is on sale since you would end up buying it anyway later on.
GMO – Genetically Modified Organisms
Ah and vaccines.. Don’t forget them, remember they cause autism.
Don’t be silly, now! There aren’t vaccines in GW2’s universe (at least there is not a proof about them existing yet), healing skills, though…
Don’t say that, or I myself may start to knock out of other’s attacks’ ways enemies and mobs :V
Actually, that was my second thought (the first being “what the heck?”, just in italian)…
Before posting on the forum I doublechecked the character inventory (first time by scrolling and checking every item, the second time by using the search function) and “search checked” the bank tab, even though I was (and am) pretty sure it just go poof for the simple fact that during EotM I always recycle every green and blue I find, so I buy a lot of salvage kit, and never once (before logging back in) the salvage kit landed on that slot.
Thanks for the tip anyway, it would’ve been nice if it was that simple.
Well, it’s not like I said “I’d like the weapon back”, I said “I’d like to know what happened and if it is something I can avoid in the future”, so hopefully I’ll get a better answer.
Well then, I guess I’ll open a ticket to know what happened (even though I didn’t thought it was necessary just for some info).
Thanks anyway.
I was playing in EotM, we were taking back the bell, when suddently the game lagged (the animation continued, they just looped continously and everyone was running still).
Since I was already recycling some greens and blues I continued thinking that I would’ve been reconnected to the server to be able to join the game again, sadly it didn’t happened.
Now, one of the weapon I keep with me was Labrys, after I logged back in I discovered it was gone (the reason I noticed it is that I bought another salvage kit and it didn’t landed where I usually keep them), the reason I exclude that I accidentatly salvaged it are:
It usually requires a confirmation
I was all the way on the bottom of the inventory, whereas I kept Labrys in the fourth slot.
To be honest, I really don’t care a whole lot about that weapon (yeah, I’m a bit disappointed but wathever) since it is worth just a bit less than 4 gold, but I’d prefer to know what happened exactly since it may happen to something a lot more valuable.
If you don’t mind, I’d like to counter your question with another question:
Why not?
Magic (during combat, at least), just as weapons, is just a mean to deliver damage to your enemy, the main difference between the two being the kind of strain you put onto yourself (it being mentally for magic and phisical for, well, bashing your enemies’ heads with a stick).
In a media like GW2, where there is no price whatsoever on casting a spell more than swinging a blade we may suppose that the two are just as effective (especially since we may agree at this point that every class actually uses a bit of magic to give that extra oomph to their attacks), if we were talking about other games were there would be a hard limit to the magic usage (the first which comes to my mind being d&d, where a magic user as a limited amount of spells per day) in a set frame of time, then magic may become much more powerful (due to versatility, stopping power, and etcetera)…
Magic in such a place becomes REALLY powerful (most of the problems comes from spellcasters), but I still think that going for a martial class would be a solid choice because they are a more “sustainable” way of surviving (they just need their hp, then they can go on bashing enemies at their heart’s content).
Finally, we also agreed that even if everyone is able to use magic, not everyone is able to do it with the same proficiency, so that would be a reason to go for weapons instead to go for magic… What would be the point to study something I can’t get a hold onto when I may use my effort to actually become good at fighting with a weapon?
Even if I were one of those which are good at everything, I may still prefer weapons over magic just as a matter of preference, that would be a valid reason to choose them.
Magic, in a greater scope, is fairly superior to simpler tools like weapons, simply because it has some “special uses” that a non spellcaster character wouldn’t be able to access (in this game those are represented by those spells which only npcs have, for example Logan’s huge eternal dome of protection in CoF’s story, or the fact that a certain character can create through illusion her own clothes, or Trahearne’s minions army, in other media a spell used in a creative way or a special spell created for that special occasion), but those are cases where it is needed for the story and does not prove less about the viability of weapons in a fight (even though, it may make you change your idea about being a martial character if you don’t want to be powerless in instances where only spells can save the day).
Actually, engineer as a profession uses no magic. Individual engineers might, and some of their equipment might be magical, but engineer skills are not magic. Engineer is the Bad-kitten Normal of GW2.
EDIT: Doh, filtered
You’re right, I didn’t though of engineers, still, due to some of theirs’ skills mechanics I find pretty reasonable that they still use magic (the two examples which comes to my mind being the way projectiles travel or the way the fire field from the flamethrower is so perfectly laid, like a wall).
Even though, I don’t know of any source which claims them being magic user or pure technology user, so that’s just my call and should really not to be taken as a point.
But if i use a profession like a Thief? I wont be able to use any kind of magic right? or are there some racial skills that make that possible?
As it has already been said, everyone does use some degree of magic and if you think a bit about it thieves are not the least magical class of the game (it being the warrior in my opinion, which still uses quite a bit of it):
Thieves are able to summon allies (elite), teleport with ease (utility, sword/dagger if not mistaken, shortbow, and maybe more) and some other feats I cannot remind this moment that are obviously impossible without the help of magic (or, since there is some science in this game, the help of some kind of device, but not being visible up until now it would be safe to think it is not thanks to that).
Just as somebody else said, maybe not everyone is a first grade magician, but they can still bend a little bit of magical energy torwards their end (especially since the game depicted the age the game is in as filled with magic, even more than years, even centuries, earlier).
If you don’t mind, folks, I have a question:
If I agree to fight in a proper duel (with /bow, no disengaging and the like), is still ok to use pulls and pushes to drop an enemy over the border of a floating isle in EotM or may it be considered “dishonourable”?
Just to be sure, I’m not kidding, flaming or the like.
I asked and only 3 people answered (which is kinda sad, since there were 20/25 people logged in, maybe even more), 2 of them had problem and the last one didn’t, moreover they didn’t get their internet from Fastweb.
A thing worth noting is that a guildy suggested to add the commandline /clientport 80, maybe it can help to fix your issue…
Here is GW2’s wiki page about command lines, hope this’ll help you.
Oh, Enkyl, I didn’t know you were playing GW2 too…
I myself don’t have any problem, I’ll try to ask to my guildies later to see if they have some issue, in the meanwhile, which’s your provider?
As stated by a QA team member in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/MF-items-NOT-account-bound-but-soulbound/first MF items were always meant to be soulbound if they already were prior the patch, and that the fact they wrote otherwise was “miscommunication” on their parts, one which they decided to clarify only after the patch even if they knew there were a lot of people which misunderstood the situation.
Since that last response we hadn’t anymore.
I was kinda thinking something like that…but you can craft celestial gear. I simply don’t understand why they wouldn’t just give us the option to choose any stat combo available to us (this is more towards rabid gear then letting me get celestial gear).
You can craft celestial gear, true, but it requires specific recipes and time gated resources (in contrast to other stats combo… Infact sentinel’s stats combo is not disponible too).
As for the reason behind such a limited pool of stats combo, I guess that is because it was easier to acquire to acquire crafted MF gear in contrast to the only droppable/buyable MF gear, so making the crafted one be able to become a droppable/buyable only stats combo may have been seen as too “easy”.
Edit: Did they give any reason why certain gear can contain celestial stats, and others can’t? or why they didn’t just give us the ability to choose any stat combo in the game?
This is a one-time ability, and the options are dependent on where the item was acquired.
Why can I choose Assassin’s and Apothecary stats, but not dire/rabid/celestial? Correct me if I’m wrong, but Assassin’s was one of the last stat combos added to the game…
This depends on the MF stats type rather than where you got that piece of equipment, from my understanding:
If it had Power, Precision and MF (like the set which could be crafted) then the selection is limited to the stats combo obtainable from a crafting profession, if it had other combo (like the set from CoE which had MF, Condition Damage and another stat I can’t recall, dunno if there were others) then any from all the stats combo could be selectionable.
As for Assassin’s stat combo being selectionable in the “limited list”, it depends on the fact that Assassin now overwrite the old MF crafting recipe and stats, I guess.
Please folks, keep this thread in the realm of reasonable :asd:
As for me, I’m still waiting AT THE VERY LEAST for a response and an apology, the opportunity to be able to use the equipment for something else rather than salvaging would be REALLY nice, but it was over 2 weeks that they don’t even bother to respond, so the actual probability for that to happen is slight at best.
Let me repeat though: I’ll not let this go until someone responds into this thread with a complete explanation and apology, because a message saying just “Oh, that was a miscommunication, let me fix the text because we never meant that” is not a proper excuse for such an error, or a truly explanation of why the things are like this either.
However, looking at those pages, I start to guess that my requests are out of the “realm of reasonable” too, right? Otherwise there would be NO JUSTIFICATION for being ignored like this.
Each day that passes this will get worse…
Remember that your image is at a stake too (equipment refunded or not).
I guessed it was common sense that they only meant hitherto unequipped MF pieces.
Why would they make equipment already belonging to a character suddenly account bound? That would be an entirely different function than making tradeable pieces account-bound for the simple reason of preventing a (minor) economic meltdown by everyone buying up and hoarding MF gear to sell as Berserker’s et al later.
How you want to re-distribute your gear among your characters figures in exactly nowhere in that equation.Your display of logic is too alien for me.
Because they clearly said that they were trying to find a way to cause as little loss to people with MF gear as possible, that’s why:
I, like a lot of other people, have 2 sets on 2 character, one for combat (like in dungeons or anywhere I cannot fool around) and one with MF wich I use(d) at my leisure, I crafted 2 sets per character because I didn’t want to bug people (or be a hindrance to anyone, otherwise I would have created only the MF set).
Now, as stated earlier, they said that they wanted to cause as little loss possible, then how am I suppose to get anything back from a set of gear I don’t need on that character? The main set is enough for what I need to do and the ex-MF gear is now just sitting in my inventory, because I really don’t need it.
Someone may say “then salvage it”, well it is not “little loss” either…
A CHANCE to drop ectoplasm and a CHANCE to drop dark matter from equipment wich costed 5 globs of ectoplasm and 5 t6 fine materials per piece for the armor (excluding the base materials since were really cheap) or 5 globs, 5 t6 fine materials and a variable amount of orichalcum/ancient wood per piece for weapons?
Not really worth it…
Then there is the ascended gear (wich, luckily, I found a way to use on the character it was bound on), that isn’t even salvageable, how can someone do anything with it?
You may say that our logic is alien to you, well, your is alien to me as well, because I can’t see anywhere how this can be a system developed to assure that we would lose as little as possible… Actually, this system helped those that wanted cheap gear off the TP by buying it before the “fix” kicked in, rather than help those which got their gear for legit reasons (to use it for what it was planned to do from the beginning).
We’ll not let this one go, sorry…
I, myself, am quite upset about this whole situation.
It happened to me too and everytime it was to the person right under the one I wanted to send the mail to, so my guess is that by the time you right click the username on the chat someone else writes something and you select, by mistake, another player.
Same here, moreover my MF set was my secondary set…
I really don’t need another armor set since the primary is good enough, what should I do with it?
Last, but not least, there were PLENTY of people in the forum talking about this matter and was clear we all understood that EVERYTHING would have become account bound, why no one clarified this mess before the update?
I used to believe that when I played UO on the Europa server.
Nowadays, they could just aswell remove the RPG from the end.
It really depends on the game and the community:
It is true, back in Ultima Online there were a lot of roleplayers and lore was important, now it is just something “more” around the core of the game, but it is still important to someone…
It simply changed the “importance” since (seems like) the majority of the players is not interested in it, but as long there are players which pays attention to it there should be lore to explain every bit of the game.
why do you need such a trivial thing to ensure you attain enjoyment, i dont recall asking for lore when playing pacman or pong.
MMORPG are all about lore and backstory since, well, they are role playing game…
I myself do not find lore to be mandatory to play pvp (although interesting to know), but I aknowledge that to someone else, which is more interested in it, may be: it is just a matter of what one enjoy.
Sylvari armour will never be wearable by any other race but Sylvari, account bound or not. Transmuted or not.
You can already make cultural armour account bound now. Just transmute it on a yellow or white armour. This actually works for every single armour and weapon piece. No matter if they are soulbound on acquire or on use. That’s how my necro got Vigil pants while he didn’t even start his personal story yet.
About the change, you will be able to change it to any other crafteable stat once the update hits. And remember, there will be a new stat to replace the Pillaging/Explorer!
Thanks for the response, even though you missed a bit the topic (I already knew that cultural armor can be worn only by the race it is designed to be worn and that, once the update goes live, that I’ll be able to change the stats)…
Nevertheless you helped me:
If cultural armor can already be account bound maybe mine will become account bound too, although I can’t be completely certain.
It was a bugfix to let players which didn’t got their first birthday present to get it, as the wiki page about game update says:
Fixed a bug that prevented some player characters from receiving their First Birthday Gift. This should also give a birthday gift to all characters that are over a year old, including those that have already received one.
I tried to search in this post and seems like no one still asked this, so I’ll give it a shot (maybe someone can enlight me):
I have a sylvari which MF armor is the cultural set, as soon as the changes will go live what will happen exactly?
Will the set still become account bound so that I may transfer it to another character (be it another sylvari for it to wear or another race to transmute)? Or will it remain soulbound due to the cultural armor nature (with the option to change the stats)?
This is somewhat of importance because I may decide if I’ll just keep the armor until I create another character able to wear it or to just transmute it.
Thanks for the attention.
Also, killing ice spikes doesn’t even help half the time, because they leave behind an AOE field that kills the golems just as quickly as the spikes did.
Assuming you can even see the spikes or the golems or anything else with the rampant culling, for that matter.
Not only that, sometimes the Claw of Jormag seems way too happy to just spawn those freaking pillars right in front of the golems, leaving no time at all to destroy them.
When my pet goes down my female human ranger says either “Pet down!” or “No! My pet!”, when he comes back at the end of the fight she says “So, you were just playing dead”.
I’m not completely sure but I think she may also say, when my pet comes back to life, “Back to the fight”, but don’t be too sure on this.
I never said that I approve this thing, I just explained how it works.
I do think that rather than rng based chests and mob grinding there should be a way to get everything by playing the game, and I’m not saying like the achievement (wich is fine for a “final” reward, not for everything), those are almost easy, I’m talking about something like a mission progression (you know, something like the personal story: Do x mission, complete the sub story and earn a ticket, for example).
The whole rng chests has always been something wich bugged me… I can understand that they need to make money out of it, but that’s just not right:
If I pay gems (be it through using real money or by converting TONS of gold into it) I’d like to be sure to get what I want, Anet seems like partly listened to the gamers’ plea, but in my opinion they could still improve the system.
Now, there are people who like to gamble in order to get what they want, that’s fair, I just can’t understand why they can’t implement a system where those who want to be sure to get the reward withough gambling can while those who like to gamble should be able to.
THAT’s what I think about the whole question and that’s MY opinion, so it may be not right or sharable, and so it should be.
Whenever a similar system will be implemented it will be better to me, but until then I’ll just try to adapt to the system wich will come (rest assured I won’t waste gems on gambling, though).
Now, after such a wall of text, did you ever thought about getting some fine materials (you run with a full MF set, it shouldn’t be a problem), selling them on the TP and using the money to buy the wings? They’re quite cheap as far as I know.
Everytime someone loot a monster (or kill it, I don’t know when it kicks in) a reward is selected from a drop table, it is not influenced by what you previously dropped or what someone else is finding.
Really, that’s just that: Randomness.
You MAY find true, as some people says, that there are “good rng” days and “bad rng” ones, that’s just because usually in a computer program a random number is not always such… As far as I’ve been told (never looked at it) usually a random number generator tends to select some numbers more than others, so some days you may be in a good rng where you find a lot of precious loot and others where you just get trash.
Na while getting a ticket would be great I didn’t really expect one my random drop chance seems to be way to low for something like that. I was really trying to get just one wing to drop with as much magic find as I could possible get but it doesn’t seem to help.
Yep, wings are obtanaible through monster’s drop (just checked to be sure, I was almost certain it didn’t), but the drop chance is quite low… Magic Find WILL help you, but not that much: In the end it will be the RNG will give you the wings (still, if you really want to farm down hordes of monster to get it I would suggest you to run a full MF gear, at least it will give you even more chests wich will be more shots to tickets, wings and mini pets).
No i mean even getting the crates, i farmed for the ENTIRE event and got 5 crates total
The southsun’s ones? Those had quite a low drop chance (and MF just gives you better odds, not a guaranteed drop, sadly… Bad luck still strikes like a train)…
I personally haven’t farmed that much, but I was still able to get up to 10 crates (I was running with a bonus of 350%-430% MF), so it really depends on your personal luck after all.
I guess (one cannot ever be too sure) that you’re talking about opening the chests in order to get a ticket, if that’s the case then please be aware that magic find does not influence the drop from world chests, inventory chests and the like, only monster’s drop is.
I wasn’t talking about the fact it being bugged, that should have been fixed as soon as it has been noticed, I was talking about the fact that, as has been told quite a lot of times already in this topic and others, the whole achievement seems to be achievable (lol) only temporarily and is luck based (most of it, the only skill required is to be able to dodge an attack, wich is common to the game mechanics of the whole game after all).
100 elimination by tomorrow? So that those who weren’t lucky enough to get in game in time to achieve it after the change will feel tricked? That was a change that should have happened week ago.
At this point it’s too late, we can just resign ourself with the idea of not being able to finish all of the southsun’s achievements (and trust me, I’m quite annoyed about it).
We can only trust that this won’t happen ever again.
The time is short and even if they’ll apply such option it won’t be in 2 days (and honestly, I don’t think they’ll ever do it):
If you really can’t do it with your ranger may I suggest you to use another character (or to create one, if you have only that one)? After all every character get levelled up to level 80 and if you go with someone you know or with random people wich are going in there too it shouldn’t be a big issue to reach the entrance…
As for Canach, he’s quite pathetic when comes to direct damage (I’m not saying it will be easy as if you were a true level 80 character, but it should be viable), so with some attention it should be possible.
