Unfortunately not. It seems like everybody is assuming this and perhaps its right. But i cant find a official statement about that question.

Title says it. If I am Ranger for example, will i be able to wield a staff without being a Druid at this moment?
HoT says that we will unlock new weapons with the new specialisations, but it doesnt say that it only works while in that said specialisation.

Perhaps one of you can help.

no specialization = no new weapon

If the sword weapon is melee, i sure hope the Specialization will bring extra innate survivability to the class, aka increase its HP Pool, its Toughness, Armor rating, ect.

Still doesnt say you cant wield the new wepons outside of the specialization. It only says you unlock them and you unlock a specialization. So nobody knows for sure. Only speculating.

Just as i said above, nothing is fact. all is just speculation. So no offense pls.
That they change the way the F1-F4 skills work is allready a fact. Our mechanic is to swap attunements. So a specialization is pretty much going to be something else then atunementswapping. So why are there skills for 4 different elements on the sword? Perhaps because we can use the weapons outside of the specialization, perhaps not. Thats what i think. and as far as we know there is nothing that says it couldnt.

I’m pretty sure new weapons are ONLY for specializations, that’s the reason why they introduce them, because they don’t want to add new content for current classes, they want to separate it a bit and balance it partially spec by spec as they will add more, not everything together…

If your focus is on the might-nerf, you will find that this hit other professions like Celementalists and Celenginiers even harder.
I think this balance patch was pretty good, if you think about how Anet usually nerfs. This time they made pretty small cuts.

Great FAQ so far, bit there is one thing bothering me badly.
You can’t call Hellseth the best EU Mesmer AS long AS Azani is arround whos is at least as skilled as Hellseth. Just watch MiM play in Tournaments or against TCG.

If you combine the range and tthe CD in one trait i could imagine that everyone feels the urge to use it. Just my two cents

I use the Naga and i loooooooooooove it. When you get used to you never use a keyboard again. I switch attunements by shift+1,2,3,4.
It is way faster when you mastered it than a Keyboard because u only need 1 finger for all skills and you fingers dont need to travel over the whole keyboard.
Use it and love it.

Is daphoenix still playing Guildwars? I am hoping for an update in his Website and in this thread so much. He is kinda hero for me. He really helped making D/D popular.

Yes, its tons of fun, viable and your welcome in every group, no matter if WvW, sPvP, Tounaments vor Dungeons vor Fractals, as long as you are skilled enough and maybe use the right weapon set.
I would defenetly make one again.

Yeah, i guess its okay as it is. I mean, it says “Weapon Swap” (i know, weapon Sigils work though). I think it would be kinda overpowered.
