Thanks for the feedback folks. Swiftness should be up nearly 100% of the time with the 10 in firearms for infused precision. As far as burns go, unless im missing something, they moved incendiary powder to grandmaster, and id have to drop grenadier for it, doesnt sound worth it. But i would love to add burn into the mix.
So my engineer just hit 80, and I’m looking for advice. The plan is to focus on WvW, with a grenade spec, in celestial gear. Past that I’m very open to suggestion. I’m personally leaning towards a base of 30/10/0/10/0, with either the extra 20 in firearms for the extra damage per condition, or splitting it between alchemy for backpack regen, and tools for SD. Planning on might stacking through med kit, proccing rune of altruism and enhance performace, with sigil of battle, and possibly sigil of strength. Not apposed to going HGH instead for might, but it seems id be blowing those utilities just to proc might and nothing else, which i suppose is partially true for SD if i dip into tools at all. Thoughts, concerns, issues, rebuttals?

Honestly, the closest thing to ret pally is a warrior. They get decent heals, group buffs, and do retaliation better imo. Also just fyi, retaliation does not prevent any damage. Have fun out there.
I found a very happy medium that works for me and my AH build. Soldier armor with divinity runes, and berserk weapon, berserk accessories(ascended) Berserk trinkets generally get better bang for your buck with crit dam . I end up with 17.5k hp, 2700 armor, 2400 power, 38 crit chance, and +95 crit damage. Best of both worlds for me.
Just preview it from the trade post, search for molten.
Fractals have been keeping me occupied for awhile, trying to get my ascended gear. In addition to that, try to plan out a unique looking set of armor. I find my enjoyment of a character is directly related to how awesome I look.
Check the TP for pact, and choose the skin worth the most gold, then sell it. Should net you a few gold towards a useful exotic.
I know it will be a dps loss, but can you see how effective a full trinket set of the ascended celestial gear is?
I too am thinking about doing the all stat accessories for my engi. Mainly due to the fact there just seems like so many different builds to play around with. I’ll prolly settle on some grenade build and was planning on doing WvW, so the extra survivability would be helpful. Any thoughts from someone with more experience?
Problem is, what makes celestial stuff good is the fact it gives more total stat points then anything else, trying to duplicate that with normal gear just means your forcing yourself to to take stats you need dont need as much, over stats you need more. With that being said, half berserker hand alf shaman on armor and knights on weapon(s).
Ive been planning out the same, here’s what i came up with. Yeah that’s durmond priory shoulders and vigil pants.
Thanks again. As far as the protection, i was sitting on about +30% boon duration, and yes, cycling between all signets as fast as possible. If memory serves it was around 85% / 66% up time, with and without serrated stones. What are your thoughts on givers weapons? Worth a slot?
Thanks xbaunx, glad to hear something like this is viable. What you described in spvp is pretty much what i was looking for, cant stand doing cookie cutter. Any thoughts on taking earth V over earth II, for nearly constant protection?
Thanks for the reply, i should have added a bit more info. This would mainly be for pve dungeons. Build is:
20 in fire for fire auras
30 in fire for written in stone/protection on auras
last 20 open for debate, currently in arcane for boon duration
I end up with nearly permanent protection, on top of steady passive heals with my healing signet. I ran a few dungeons today to refresh my memory, and i feel pretty tanky, so i feel i could switch to dagger offhand and lose nothing. Still kinda on the fence between Shaman and Carrion though.
I’ve shelved my ele for awhile to work on my guardian, and its time to dust him off. I always wanted a scepter/focus bleed signet build. Shaman gear has vit/heals/con dam, which all seem helpful, compared to the coupling my condition damage with power or precision, which both seem rather useless in a bleed focused build. The other real contender being Carrion, which has the advantage of having more condition damage inherently . So is it worth it to trade my “useless” power and higher cond dam, for higher vit and higher heals, or am i shooting myself in the foot?
I’m a sucker for Norns. They just exude badkitteness. Plus, i just feel inferior when i play a normal sized race standing next to a Norn. Also, cool outfit you got there.
