I’ve noticed this as well.

From what I can tell, I get 8s to 10s of swiftness when entering Lion’s Arch from another map via gate or waypoint before it wears off.

Waypointing within LA or entering from the character select screen grants me no swiftness at all.

I love the sounds in this game, but there are some that annoy me.

That ringing/droning noise waypoints make when I stand near them.
Some of the minis, the SAB minis, and I think it might be Hoho-tron, the incessant ting-ting-ting-ting.
The level up sound when someone deems it necessary to spam them while standing at the banker.

I’ve been wandering around in starter zones, only finding that the mobs don’t do what the game says they do. A drake in Ashford Plains don’t do knockback, Forest Spiders in Queensdale don’t poison, and Sons of Svanir in Wayfarer Foothills don’t freeze and bleed, but they do knockback and cripple. I’ve come across a Son of Svanir, the abilities it said was knockback and bleed, but he only did knockback.

It’s been like this for ages, possibly even from day one. Mobs in low level areas might have the same affixes as those in higher level areas, but without the associated skills to use them.

Another tip:

If you have a lot of addresses listed (you may have had the trading post window open for example), you can type /ip into the chat box to get the IP address of the map/server you are currently connected to and use that to find the matching Remote Address in Resource Monitor.

I often use the method described by RapidSausage to get an idea of my latency whenever I feel as if I am experiencing lag.

He would not be lost then would he? And ‘finding’ him would hardly be an achievement.

I agree. Even before the API, I felt that things ran too much like clockwork.
I felt that all events needed longer and more random downtime between them. The bigger the event the longer the downtime.

I try to ignore the clockwork nature of them, but when I run across the same event 3 times in the space of 30mins it kind of ruins the experience for me.

That’s my opinion, and likely an unpopular one.

It depends on the character, my Sylvari necro has a fell set of Dreamthistle weapons, so getting her a Dreamcleaver axe was a nobrainer

The Chop-It-All fits nicely on my Asura engi.

Overall, I prefer the look of the Dreamcleaver, but I am a fan of things Sylvari-esque.

Define ‘small groups’. I ran bottom to top with a random group of 5-10 players and it was a blast. More fun and challenging than a big zerg. Granted, we had a nice mix of professions and people that appeared know how to use them.

But yeah, fewer than 5 and/or less experienced players will probably have some problems, especially on 3rd floor.

I don’t think players should be herded around with penalties, but encouraged to explore with incentives. It might be better if instead of a penalty, champions who have been up for a while (often a long time) or that haven’t been done for a long time reward far more loot than ones killed every 8 minutes or whatever. Just my 2c though.

I like this idea. Have it work similarly to how bonus XP increases the longer a creature or npc has been alive.

Make it worthwhile to actually go seek out those champions in out of the way areas.

How much damage is being reduced with retaliation? I’m pretty sure it’s not 100% damage reduction ’cause I can be HB to downed state to death even if I have this boon.

Retaliation does not prevent or reflect damage, it just punishes someone for attacking you, by dealing an amount of damage based on your power (I think) back to them. You still take the hit.

I’m not very imaginative so I dyed to match my weapons. Celestial, Grape and Nectar on Sylvari Tier 1 Cultural.

WvW and the community I found there is what keeps me logging in daily. I’ve met a far greater number of interesting and fun people in WvW than in any other part of GW2.

If anything, I’d like to see these big events to be random, with a minimum downtime of an hour or two, and a maximum of maybe a day.

The best time frames for me are 16:00 to 20:00 GMT on weekdays. (I am on GMT+2) Weekends, I don’t have much else going on so any time goes.

I guess we want to start fresh new characters. I’ve started a new Norn Engineer and have completed the introduction. I also have various other professions at 25 levels and under.

Sounds like a cool idea. I have 1 slot open and have been thinking of starting an engineer.

Tried something like this (entire campaign on new chars) a few times with guildies in GW1, but someone always got impatient and pushed on ahead.

Lionguard Lyns will be returning in the end of January build without the Black Lion Keys in her inventory. She will then remain up for everyone to liquidate their Commendations and will likely be leaving entirely after about a month.

I’m in love with her voice, please use her in something else.

Go give Owain in Southsun Cove a visit, the poor girl sounds like she could use some company.

I also hope they use this voice actress in more content in future. I think she also did the voice over for the Wintersday video.

This used to happen to me a lot, but since the patch where the behavior of the skill was adjusted, it happens very seldom. I just /bug report it whenever it happens, hopefully the devs will be able to pull some useful data from the logs.

Based on what I had read on these and other forums, I was dreading heading into Orr, but to be honest, I have actually enjoyed my time spent there.

Removing/renaming local.dat worked for me too.

I had the issue rarely at first, but it seemed to get worse over time.

One thing I did notice when I got the crash/black screen, and sometimes BSOD in nv4_mini.sys. With Task Manager open on a second screen, I noticed that the Paged Kernel Memory value would spike to over 300MB and the game would crash.

After ‘resetting’ local.dat, it still spikes, but only to 200MB or so, but then immediately drops to pre game launch levels.

I love that voice. Each time she asks for donations, I want to throw all my money at her.

Owain, in the new area has the same voice, and at least 1 other npc in the new content that I have seen so far.

So glad to have finally made it.

I think the puzzle is great, frustrating yes, but a lot of fun. And no, I have not completed it yet, after trying for a good few hours.

One issue I will agree with though, the mass of players can make it really hard to see where you or the landing spot is.

Dunno where some of you are getting “no bug fixes” from, but if they managed to fix Phase Retreat, that is huge. That was the biggest annoyance for me when playing my mesmer.

Yeah, this annoys the heck out of me too. They apparently need to fix the maps to prevent this, so I’ve been /bug reporting whenever it happens so they can get the location info.

This has happened to me a few times today, really starting to bug me. I have been reporting via /bug, so hopefully they can start fixing the areas. In my situations it has nearly always been on or near shallow water. Oddest time was on a platform in the air, I think I got stuck in a log of wood.

I guess it might be that some required files are not mirrored, or not mirrored successfully, to all parts of the content distribution network.

I am in South Africa, btw. Where is everyone else who is experiencing this problem located?

I have exactly the same problem as everyone above. Gets to last file and then give me: error ‘Download failed! Please check your internet connection and try again. (2)’.

This is the same thing I am experiencing. I have tried pretty much everything suggested thus far.
