Well done and thank you dlonie for creating this thread, and thank you devs for joining this thread. I hope this does help the dev/player relationship . From what you guys are saying, it sounds like raiding will be a blast!
Also loving those funny raid stories XD. Nice meeting you all .
Was on 9gag recently… saw this…
Talk about paying attention to detail…
Is this the publicity that Arenanet wants on other sites?
On an even better note, guild wars 2 is becoming more popular on 9gag.
Hopefully this’ll focus on more physical damage instead of conditions and having to rely on zercker gear to get any damage output.
I doubt it will be more physical damage orientated… I think it will be more condition based, considering how the base Guardians are more physical damaged base rather than conditions.
Quite interesting how it still plays the support role like the Guardian…or it might play a better role of support than the Guardian.
Yeah it is too early to say how this specialization will play out… It has interesting concepts/mechanics, we will have to wait for the livestream…
The one thing I’m a bit skeptical of…is the name. I mean Dragonhunter? They could’ve named it Warden or something. Sounds so cliché…
If they rewarded teams that only defended and didn’t attack much, we would have full bunker teams which would result in extremely boring matches.
The purpose of defence is essentially to buy you time for your offence. Remember that the primary objective of this mode is to kill the enemy lord.
Scenario #1: 5 of the enemy players are in your base and being successfully held back by 3 people while 2 of you are killing their lord uncontested.
Scenario #2: A large team fight occurs in your base (3v3+) which you are able to win. Having 3+ of them down allows you to assume control of the whole map and run supplies, channel heros and advance your offensive uncontested before they can respond.
Yeah, then they should make the lord actually have some decent hp and attacks. It’s sad how easy he can be soloed by anything, no interrupt in downstate…is this really rewarding you 500 points? And since people have no defending awareness, you’re pretty much free to kill the lord if you like alone.
:O Have you killed the lord by yourself and won? They aren’t faceroll targets. They are hard to kill.
If anything, while you’re defending you get points, for killing the players and the mercenaries (hero, skritt, archer) and using the trebuchet. Considering that offense is a priority, you’ll just start stacking up points by doing these three things.
Stronghold is a blast and our team had a great time tonight. Though for the sake of the beta test, here is a summary of our team’s experience tonight:
Quickly figured out that conquest builds do not work in Stronghold
So our team ran this and we were winning about 90% of our matches:
- Power Well Necromancer Offensive Pusher/Lord Room AoE Nuker
- Trap Ranger Offensive Pusher/Lord Room AoE Nuker
- GS/Sword Warrior “Mobile Strikes” Main Peeler/NPC immobilization DPS
- Shatter Mesmer “Portal Entre” Main Supply Runner/Treb Player
- Pure Turret Engineer Gate Defense
You’re right, Stronghold is a blast…hopefully they’ll make the beta longer, 1 day is not enough.
Great gamemode but I think there needs to be a system in place for a comeback like for example repairing the gates maybe with supply
I don’t think the devs will go down with that route, they did say they want to keep the length of the game as same as Conquest. If anything maybe they could add an option to add guards, as a comeback option? That being said, make a limit of guards that are allowed to be recruited, you certainly don’t want to face a team who has recruited 100 guards or something -_- .
Actually I was playing on Altruistic Bunker Guardian, and it’s really effective in defending.
You just gotta play your cards right. Usually have two people defending helps, if one person is a bunker, have a more damage dealing guy next to you, and you’ll be able to defend your lane with ease.
As a general rule, 3 offense and 2 defense is the way to go. Obviously you will need to coordinate yourselves when everyone needs to rush or when everyone needs to defend.
To say Bunker is not viable, is not really true…it’s about the combination of players. Try and find the right combo really.
The devs have been reviewing your feedback on the New Player Experience. While some bug fixes have already been made, the team will be making other updates in the future to address:
- Plot holes and story inconsistencies that may have been introduced with story realignment
- Replacing the missing profession mechanics UI for the Ranger and Mesmer professions
- Investigating issues that prevent players from retaining some skills (heal, utility, and elite) that they had previously unlocked
- Addressing an issue with bundles that prematurely unlocked utility and elite skills
Other aspects of the NPE are being examined, and your constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated.
There hasn’t been much reference to the ‘Plot holes and story inconsistencies that may have been introduced with story realignment’ point that you mentioned at the beginning of the thread Gaile. Apologies but I was wondering what you meant by that (it was very vague in my opinion).
For example some players have been wondering what happened to the ‘Fear Arc’ that was in the personal story, why it has been cut and the consequences it has led to (confusing storyline in the last chapters).
Now many players haven’t always expressed their ‘love’ for the Personal Story but many players feel that cutting out this portion of the storyline has not only made it confusing to new players but also has led to a loss of a very important part of the personal story, something which new players will never experience.
Here is the forum in question: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/lore/Tonn-Apatia-cut-from-Personal-Story
The plot holes and story inconsistencies is not a major issue compared to the others on this thread but many players and I want to know what exactly Arenanet is going to do about it, but also what are your thoughts about it as well.
When I first heard about Guild Wars 2, I was worried I wouldn’t able to understand the lore of the game (because I never played Guild Wars 1). But there was some information saying that there will be an insight into it in the game (can’t remember where). So when I hear there won’t be expansions into Cantha, I feel disappointed after all when I hear players who have played Guild Wars 1 and talk about lore or certain mysteries I feel sad that I haven’t been able to be part of the experience but also fascinated and I want to know more.
So my question is why? Why won’t you, surely there is something that Cantha, Elona etc. can provide to the mystery that is the Elder Dragons?
I think what everyone is saying here is (and I’m not being sarcastic) is we need the Final Fantasy XIV class and job system. Where a sub-set of different classes once mastered can become a greater and powerful class called a job. And that keeps the game play fresh. Which actually sounds pretty good and could make the game combat system pretty awesome.
I’m getting several different error messages:

Hopefully it’s nothing major and only be something to do with the nearing patch.

Well they better have a good reason why this happened. Hopefully they did this to sort out lag and frame rate issues (the server or world I was on had a lot of those problems).
