… he starred at yet another dulled blade, one more chance for results…this wasn’t going to be fun.

“starred”

Is this an intentional misspelling? Could be a hint toward something related to stars if so.

The Ranger "Issue"

I said this once, and I’ll say it again

Rangers were never meant to have nice things

Maybe our time has come,finally!

In4b the nerfs

It’s going to happen,, no point denying it. It happens to every class

Seems to happen to Ranger more than any other class in the game. Not only that but the nerfs come quick unlike Warrior, Guardian and Thief nerfs.

Did you forget how Warriors were one of the weakest classes for a long time, too? Or how they’ve had nothing but nerfs for the last few patches, along with being butchered this patch?

Depending on the internal cooldown, surely this is an amazing elite for fresh air builds? Fresh air will allow you to proc the quickness pretty much every time it’s up without fail.

Would You Fight To Reclaim Ascalon?

in Human

Dilige Vitam.1956

In this thread: People forgetting that Ascalon was originally the Charr’s land and Humans kicked them out of it. I don’t understand why any of you seem to think it’s the Human’s right to take it back?

Forgetting that, however, I don’t think you guys realise just what you’d be getting the Human race into if you went to war with the Charr. You can just about cope with the Centaurs, how do you think you could cope fight against a complete militaristic race that is vastly technologically superior to both the Centaurs AND Humans. Next, you have to consider that Charr pretty much have numbers superiority too. There’s probably at least as many Charr in the world at the moment as Humans, NOT INCLUDING the vast Blood Legion armies they still have in the Blood Legion homelands. I’m sorry, but a war with the Charr would not go well for the Humans in any way, without the help of the other races. Then you have to consider that if the Humans start the war to get Ascalon back, why would any other race even feel obligated to help?

TL;DR: Even if Humans had some legitimate reason to fight the Charr to reclaim Ascalon, there’s absolutely no way you’d be able to beat them.

Cannot load Caledon Forest

That makes no sense though, why would a video card overheating only cause me to not be able to load Caledon Forest? Either way, I checked and no errors. I’ve already looked over anything hardware related since this started.

I’ve only been using repair/delete local.dat since I after searching the net/forums people have had the same problem and this was the only way they fixed it. Every time it happens I have to do the same thing, repair GW2, delete local.dat, log into another character and then I can log back into the character stuck in Caledon Forest. If, for example, I don’t log into another character first, I can’t log into the character in Caledon Forest. This is what’s leading me to believe it’s something to do with the game/client and not hardware. That, plus the fact that it’s only been happening for ~2/3 days. I’ve never encountered this before.

Whenever I waypoint into Caledon Forest, it stays on the loading screen and never loads, only showing the loading circle in the bottom right. Every time I have to run the repair and then delete local.dat just to get into the map, which takes a good 10 minutes just to finish the repair. It’s only been happening the last 2 days. At first I thought it was only Twilight Arbor waypoint, but now it’s happening at any waypoint I try in Caledon Forest.

Edit: After waiting 10 minutes or so, the game kicks me back to character select saying that it failed to connect, can still log into any other character that isn’t in caledon forest, though.

New thief with some simple questions

in Thief

When we say they’re weak until ~50 that’s generally compared to playing other classes. It’s not like they can’t be played in pve until that level it’s just that other classes have it a lot easier. Once you get a bit more experience and get used to the play style, you won’t have a problem.

I recently just levelled my thief up to 80, using s/p and d/d, changing to p/p or p/d for occasional fights. P/d is incredibly useful against melee attackers that you can’t afford to take damage from, since it offers you so much safety with it’s ability to kite and the stealth. D/p or s/p has the same reliable safety in the blind spam and near instant interrupt on pistol 4, s/p I find the better option for pve because of the AoE damage you can put out with the added mobility of sword 2.

Don’t be afraid to give d/d a try though when you’re fighting a tough single target. It’s single target damage is incredible, just by using dagger 5, backstab (the dagger’s stealth autoattack) and autos. I wouldn’t recommend using it for general pve, but when you’re left with single targets you can take them down pretty quick with this set.

All in all, thieves are not the greatest at most things, but they’re by no means the worst either. If you stick to it and really learn the ins and outs of the class, you can be a real threat in pvp or invaluable dps in pve. I think out of all the classes, thieves have the best potential for outplaying opponents in pvp (along with maybe mesmers, but I haven’t really played them much to know). Don’t listen to what others tell you is good or bad, try for yourself. You can make anything viable in any situation if you really work on it, learn the pros and cons, and find a way to exploit what you have learned and translate it to the situation you’re in. In a way it’s similar to league of legends, learning a champion to it’s fullest there will give you an immense advantage over even counter picks. That applies to professions in GW2 as well. At the end of the day, it’s YOUR skill that matters, not what everyone tells you based on their skills and experience.

Edit: after reading your previous post about d/d being fun but not as powerful, it’s mostly because thieves are very reliant on traits for a lot of their power. Just because it feels weak now, try it again when you’re nearing max level, then decide :P

The Warrior and the shield

in Warrior

^this

Ever managed to reflect 2 killshots, the ranger longbow knockback, headshot and a bola in one go? Ridiculously funny, especially the killshots because they make the warriors panic like hell XD

Get mace / shield > find enemy zerg in a chokepoint (like lords room) > run into los > reflect > giggle uncontrollably > run and wait for cooldowns.

But shield block locks you in place. Is that skill worth being locked in place in a Zerg?

You can still walk around with shield block.

Would you be scared by someone trying to act scary when they don’t even know where you are? I don’t know about you, but I’d see them as just pulling stupid faces/making stupid noises in random directions, I wouldn’t fear that at all.

You’re level 7 but have been scaled down to level 4 for the area you’re in. Essentially you’re a level 4 in terms of stats in that area.

Rate the Charr Name Above You

I’d say 6/10 for Eviroth. It’s inventive as a name, but it’s not something I’d see as a Charr name. In my opinion, I find Charrs suit more harsh, abrupt names. That’s just my opinion though.

Morte Darksteel, warrior.
Abandoned from birth, he was quickly thrown in with a large warband and named “Darksteel” after the rank and file of the group. His prowess on the field quickly gained the attention of those around him, as his large, sweeping strikes with his greatsword brought up images of a reaper taking the lives of those around him. So, he gained the nickname “Morte”, death.
(Morte was chosen simply because it was latin and followed with a lot of Charr titles and such)

Always rooted for the Charr since Prophecies. The humans were the kitten there, kicking the Charr out of their homelands out of greed. Just seemed to me that they had an admirable cause, they just went about everything the wrong way. Now to see how they’ve progressed since then, how could I not play a Charr?
