Agree 100%, the new dodges need to be fluid or else they’re pointless, it messes up everything about the entire Daredevil traitline. In competitive PvP where reflex matters, that delay at the beginning of a dodge is going to get you killed, and the delay at the end is going to make you predictable, using the leap dodge to stealth through a smoke field will be the easiest thing in the world for someone to lock on to, and know exactly where you’ll land. I like the idea of where this specialization is going, it just needs some work on animation and fluidity
Alright, so I was playing real fine for 3-4 hours, was about to enter a PvP game and my client suddenly crashed, giving me:
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com.”
Trying to log back in, and I’m just stuck on the loading wheel of the loging screen for a couple of minutes before having the following message:
“Guild Wars 2 has encountered an error
The game client was unable to connect to the log-in server. Please restart your client and try again. If the problem persists…bla bla bla”
My internet is working just fine, I don’t think my firewall is the problem, since I haven’t touched anything and was playing just fine.
I even changed my DNS setup and renewed my IP address to no avail… is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I’m having the same issue right now, I haven’t changed anything on my system.
This video demonstrates how effective distracting the enemy team can be. It’s all about buying time for the rest of your team to gain points by disabling the opposing team with all kinds of fun mind games (thief/mesmer recommended)
The Mad King pops in with this pun for the thread:
A Monumental announcement is approaching “soon”
Thanks so much for this update! This is just what we needed! Although it does make me think the HoM is coming back for Halloween now… Which is non-ideal… Also, can we really trust the Mad King? O_O
Not sure what that would accomplish. That one person is working on it, we don’t really need periodical reports about how they are fixing it. When it is done, the HoM will be reopened.
You are no longer welcome here sir/madam xD
(Just kidding, you have a right to be here)

Can we get some information from a dev please?
I get that SOME people would complain about this…. but honestly, who ever uses those skins? I literally see a HoM skin like once a week and I play a lot.
That’s because they’re rare skins, some of the most prestigious in the game. I honestly feel that they’re worth more than legendaries to some extent, because you can’t just buy them with time and money. Some of the stuff you have to do in GW1 for these skins is INTENSE, especially considering the current player base of GW1, anyone attempting to get HoM points for the skins nowadays (which has been me for the past 7 months or so, on and off) has to solo the content with AI driven parties. The later missions can take hoooours just restarting and restarting and restarting getting to the end each time only to find that your AI group has another weakness you overlooked. It’s honestly one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had, but it made getting my Incinerator feel easy (well not easy, but less difficuly).
There is a big misunderstanding here. The bug has been fixed within a day or so.
We are not waiting for a bug fix, we are waiting for the solution to remove the rewards from people who earned them during the period when the bug was live.
The two things are quite different. Fixing the bug was probably simple, while devising a plan to remove titles, achievement points, HoM rewards from people who have gotten it because of the bug but not from people who have gotten them properly is definitely more difficult.
They cannot make mistakes there, imagine the uproar if they remove these from someone who has actually earned the rewards.
Very true, 4 months though. 4. Months. Probably could’ve gone through everyones accounts based purely on who logged in during the bugged time frame and repaired it manually in 4 months (I don’t recommend that btw, bad idea).

I have also heard that they were suppose to fix this soon or “eventually”…..
I am not sure that the Dev. team realize how much of a BIG DEAL this is to Veteran players of GW1. It’s like saying “screw you” to all of us who really worked REALLY hard to get all those goodies in the HOM. I am under the impression that the “HOT hype” has taken over which I think is a TOTAL INJUSTICE to those who have been faithful to the game since GW1.
I wonder of ANET realizes that if it wasn’t for the loyal GW1 players, there would not even BE a GW2 , much less the HOT expansion.
This. I feel like HoT is taking way too much of Anets resources based on how they talk about it. They’re forgetting more and more about the current game, SW is bugged, class mechanics still need work (I know they said they’ll be working on this), WvW/EotM is veeery bugged. We can wait for HoT if it means we can have a better experience while we wait.
Yeah, I just hope it’s not gonna be another thing that they’re putting off until the HoT release.
I’ll be finishing my 10 HoM points tonight and would love to get my FDS, but the Eye of the North rewards are temporarily shut down, and have been for a while.
Would it be a bad idea to submit a ticket asking to have an item skin unlocked (assuming you have the right amount of HoM points)? Has anyone tried this? Or would this be a misuse of customer support?

Great vid, thanks for posting. I especially liked the dubstep dagger thief at the end.
Haha thanks! I’ll have to make a dubstep backstab build next :P
there are at least 3 threads with this exact same build and with multiple videos on them in this sub-forum, just take a look at page 2.
Mine’s different because of the dubstep
This build is so much fun, especially against squishies. This build has no survivability, but thankfully it doesn’t require that you get in close with anyone, and it still has massive damage output. I’ve turned games around very quickly by nuking people my team is fighting from the outer edge of places like the clocktower in Khylo. Just watch out for other thieves, if any D/X thief sees you before you see them, game over.

Standard? At least i never played S/D this way. I´m in dire need of new ideas… D/P was the superior set for Thieves for a long time now and yet S/D gets the nerfbat again. This is so disheartening. I don´t want to play cheap stealth hide and seek -.-
Yeah, play around with the new traits until you find something comfortable for you. For example, I recently tried using soldiers amulet with a S/D build to feel a bit more tanky, but I also made sure I had 100% fury uptime so I could still crit. It actually made for a really nice kinda RNG heavy build. A lot of fun, kinda felt like gambling on every fight, hoping for that random 6k crit lol, and if the fight went sour, I was tanky enough to escape and reset
Here’s the official build link for anyone who wants it:

From what i have observed, he is using Deadly Arts, Critical Strikes and Trickery.
Deadly Arts: Mug (Target gets a white hit upon steal every time), Panic Strike (watch guardian fight at 4:16), and Executioner (most likely)
Critical Strikes: Signets of Power (he gains might on signet usage), Practiced Tolerance (most likely), and No Quarter (fury refreshes on critical hits)
Trickery: Haste (watch Thief fight at 0:38), Trickster (Withdraw has 15 sec CD), and Sleight of Hand (watch Thief fight at 0:38)
Marauder amulet (look at all those preciousssssss life points) and Runes of the Pack (watch Guardian fight at 1:00)
Fire sigil (watch Thief fight at 0:42). I cannot make out the second sigil. I´d choose Air, but i did not see a single Air proc, So it is either a sigil with stat boost or something that proccs on weapon swap (Energy comes to mind)TL;DR (u= up, m = mid, d = down)
DA: m, m, d
CS: m, m, u
Trick: m, m, m
Marauder, Pack rune, Fire sigil, ? sigil
Great job pulling all that from the video, it’s a pretty standard build other than Signets of Power (I don’t think many people use it atm). I like using it because I pop my signets pretty often, since Signet of Agility is kind of a savings grace for the loss of Felines Grace (haha). On S/D I’m using Sigil of Fire and Sigil of Generosity for some extra condi clearing, and on SB I’m using Sigil of Energy and Sigil of Hydromancy for better escape tactics if things go bad. But yeah, you got everything right!
Just a short montage with my thief! I’ll make some better ones eventually, I had alot of fun making this
Interesting build. I notice you have D/W and D offhand…but you didn’t trait for Quickening Thirst (Blood Magic 2) but instead took Ritual of Life (Blood 1). Why is that?
Not to mention Unyeilding Blast instead of Soul Marks for even more bunkering.
I was a MM bunker build long before the patch that was just like this, except with sentinel amulet. You rarely loose a 1v1, true BUT the minion AI was so kitten broken not even funny.
Has AI been improved in the patch? I havent even tried, because I since moved on to a protective wells build that proved much more effective than the minionmancer at holding points, especially in 1v2 or more scenarios where you can ignore the +1 (if they go on point they will die on your wells while you are fully focused on the bunkers). Minions unfortunetly have very narrow focus in comparison. Often that focus is a wall, a crate, a rat and sometimes even a player.
I would get Soul Marks if I were using staff, it’s a great trait. AI isn’t too bad, I’m not sure if it’s been improved because I haven’t played much necro until recently. Thankfully they haven’t attacked a crate yet lol, but as you see in the video, they can get stuck in odd/specific choke points, but it’s not so often that it’s game breaking.

I do like Quickening Thirst, But I find it a better option to get movement speed from Locust Swarm, since I’ve also got Banshee’s Wail, that’s 22.5 secs of swiftness on a 24 sec cooldown. Having the dagger recharge would be nice, but Ritual of Life just makes reviving team mates so easy, I’m also considering using Transfusion to make it even easier.
The minions just stand around doing nothing most of the time… is that working as intended?
I don’t think so, the AI is pretty messy
I haven’t lost a single 1v1 with this build, I have lost some very specific 2v1s (generally due to a well timed moa form from a mesmer and another heavy condition class), and I can generally hold points in 1v3 fights for well over a minute while I await my team. This is due to having so much life force regen, paired with HP regen while in death shroud. It creates a cyclical pattern, which can be paired with high power and minions to make necro a very pressure heavy, overpowering class.
It’s really fun, really broken, and I can’t stop playing it
Here’s the build below, for anyone who wants to give it a shot!
