Still trying to figure out what was really wrong with necros to begin with (aside from the obvious lack of stability/stunbreaks). Since I made my necro I haven’t understood why so many people had issues with it pre-patch..never had any issues with it aside from the previously stated. Necromancers needed a way to peel, sustain, stability/stunbreaks..not burning and all the other mess. Where does burning fit into the lore of a necromancer? o.O

They’ve obviously become a huge issue, and with all the complaining I doubt they’ll be ignored for long. So I guess now we wait for adjustments right.

Today I was stuck in a 3v5, even better. We just told them to 3 cap to end it quick then lets pvp in the mid. Managed to have a tad bit of fun – even though they 5v3’d us on the pvp part lol.

There should at least be something like SMITE for leavers/no shows though. You cannot re-queue for at least 30 minutes if you are deserter status and that begins at the end of when the match you should have been in is over.

My tpvp team came up on this twice last night. One match was 4v5, one ended up being 3v5. We all decided to either /sit in mid or we /danced or we dueled. I like the SMITE idea, too many people queue up and either don’t show or don’t participate (afk the entire time).

What about changing the greater marks trait? Make the larger marks the default for a staff, but blockable. So there is still some aoe, but you can at least dodge/evade/block it. Don’t really see the point in a definitive tell for which mark is being put down, that would make it too easy..but taking away the unblockable characteristic may help.

@Vicious – Jportell rarely plays a burst mesmer, and has no issues with how he plays his mesmer now except that it seriously lacks condi removal on the scale necessary at the moment to survive (like a few other classes), he’s one of the best bunker mesmers I know. The only thing I ever hear him whine about with his mesmer, is that it can’t handle conditions.

@ Lopez – DoTs, sure. The way conditions are right now, is beyond that. There are a couple of classes right now, that can hit you with 20 stacks of bleeding (heavy at that) right off the bat. You remove/transfer those bleeds, and in two seconds or less you have them all again. No one can sustain a fight like that for very long. I can trait my necro into condition duration, use BiP, and the bleed from that alone will do 15k worth of damage if you are unable to clear it in time; add to that the fact I’ll be dumping every other condition in the game on you (except confusion, it’s the only one a necro doesn’t have) while you’re trying to get rid of the one. Conditions are very much out of control at the moment.

@ Dirame – I really wasn’t on the forums about necros until after the patch.. and had absolutely no problem with mine before the patch (aside from the ridiculous lack of any type of stability). Myself and quite a few others that I know of very much miss our necros before the patch, and would gladly have it back. I know that’s not the majority population sentiment but..

What Sorrow said, sounds like a solid idea to me. And it’s not just the necromancers, conditions need a rework in general, from the ground up.

No please don’t add more cleansing into the game, that just makes everyone have more compulsory traits and utilities to shove into their builds just to keep up with the “meta”. Fix the source of the issue, the constant reapplication of conditions like burn and terror which deal very high damage with just one application. At least with bleeds you need to stack them up before seeing high dps.

It’s not terror, it’s the conditions. Terror doesn’t do much of anything unless you are covered in condis. Terror/fear hasn’t changed, it deals more damage if you have conditions. The amount of condition spam, the amount of damage it can do, the amount of player damage in general is not balanced well with what a player can take/cleanse, or the HP pool.

Is the Community just bad ?

+ and agree. I main a necro, or did, until the patch. Now, it’s a FOTM faceroll class that takes no skill. There was a point, you could not google ‘op necromancer build gw2’ and find anything, you can now. Those of us who took the time to learn the class and play it well while it was supposedly UP, don’t mean a thing. I quit playing mine for the most part, because I’m either eaten alive by the meta build (because idc what any of yo usay it’s op) or I’m getting constantly insulted because I play a necro.

Also, I’m sick of seeing 2 and 3 necro tpvp teams all the time. Almost as soon as you see it you want to sit at the spawn point and say gg. You could run an engi and necro, get in a team battle, spam condis and epidemic and win. Even if you have no idea what you’re doing, that’s all it takes and it’s gg.

If you wanted to bring in that kind of OP condition spam, we need more ways to counter it. Personally I hope the necro buffs get toned down, a lot. Burning, really? -_- We could use a few bug fixes, stability, trait fixes..like a lot of other classes. Didn’t need those crazy buffs, would gladly take my pre-patch necro over the post-patch necro any freaking day.

So ANet agrees Skyhammer is not a tPvP map.

We’ve taken Skyhammer out of the tournament rotation while we evaluate all of the feedback we’ve received over the last few days. The map may return to the rotation after we’ve made one (or more) adjustments to it.

I will say this.

Removing a map because a group of players are all running the single most powerful build their class has is sad. If anything adding maps where people cannot just run OP build 1 or 2 is a very good thing for PVP. It promotes players actually having to diversify a bit.

As soon as I target a player in any tournament I am in I can tell by the class Icon almost exactly what they are going to be bringing to the fight, and that is not how it should be. If I see a Guardian coming at me I know its going to be one of 2 basic builds and the weapons they have on usually give that away before they even attack. Same with almost any other class, and that is boring.

There are so many issues with Class balance I couldn’t even begin to get into it all, but giving in to a group of OP meta only players that demand people in their groups run cookiecutter class builds because they are “the best” is a very bad idea.

I know Why Necro’s are mad about Skyhammer. Their OP FOTM build can get aced by a smart player with a knock back so they can’t just run in and LOLspam conditions and win.

Players have to use utility skills with stability in them or they can get knocked off an edge to their doom, and that breaks up their Pavlovian attacks, but the worst part of it is Rangers that are not playing BM can actually win on this map. Not because of some new super secret build, but because of the difference in levels and more room to actually be able to use their weapons to a real advantage for a change.

If there is this much QQ about a single map because people might actually have to improvise and think their way through a fight. What will happen if Anet actually brings in real class balance where there is no FOTM ROFLstomp class/build?

I can honestly say that I had more fun running Skyhammer tournaments the other night than I have had in months on the other maps. My whole team was so busy laughing and having fun that we totally forgot about the score many times and were just playing to have fun. Heaven forbid people have fun playing instead of nerd raging over someone that has the wrong master trait in their tournament team.

^ This. We had such a blast on this map when it was in rotation. Sure, had to change up some of the builds we used (most of us aren’t using meta anyways), but it was challenging and fresh. Why take it out? Oh no, some people will have to adjust, start passing out the cheese.

Skyhammer took more skill, you had to pay attention, you had to use your utilities, the team couldn’t just zerg/condi spam/zerg/condispam all over the place and actually had to do some thinking. Really? The only thing you could change would be making the laser something you can dodge. Anything else, and really the map would just be boring like the rest of them are now.

Some of us understand you can’t make everyone happy no matter what you do..but giving into the whining just makes it worse. A lot of us hope the map returns to the tpvp rotation with minimal changes.

Suffering necro? lol, l2p. Necro’s were insanely good before the patch, that’s why nobody played them.

The biggest mistake you could make on trying to run a prepatch Necro was thinking they were good at conditions, prepatch Necromancers were terribad at them compared to other classes, however we had alot of potential in power/bunkering areas. Unfortunately, this patch is more or less for the facerolling masses that don't know how to play. Now Necro is OP.

Loved my necro before patch. Now, I think she’ll be shelved for a while..which makes me a sad panda.

It’s literally impossible for burning to be permanently applicable. Condition duration only goes to 100 percent, burning is a four-second duration default and its cooldown is 10 seconds.

I don’t get the complaints about wells. Nothing changed about them minus one easily accessible trait moving down. Wells are still really easy to avoid.

Wells arent the problem. The Doom buff was madness. So too was spectral wall buff. Remove those two and everything else should be fine.

7 second burn, 3 seconds down, 701 per tick.
add bleeds, plus poison, 2% increased damage per condi trait, spiteful marks trait, that’s a lot of damage per second. Not even counting torment. :/

The only thing I dislike about the patch is now everyone will hate on me for playing Necromancer, while I did all along.

I actually know a few necros that are hoping something gets nerfed as one of my long time necro buddies said “Now every moron with a half a brain can face roll necro”

While I disagree that the Necromancer is overpowered, we are severely out of balance. The class was overdone in all the wrong ways it seems, which has lead to there being 6 and 8 necromancer teams in Spvp..spawn camping and killing you before you even hit the ground out of the gate (yes that actually happened).

Did we need some love? Sure, in small doses. And we got it, just not properly spread.

I don’t feel like the Necromancer really had huge issues anyway. Before the update a few friends and myself had spent a lot of time (hours upon hours) coming up with and testing builds for our necromancers, that took skill and knowledge of the class to work properly. We went on regular Tpvp games with our necromancers and really, we had the same issues so many other classes have. Granted, we greatly lack stability unless using an elite form. After the update I kind of feel like the time was wasted, because it’s easy to face-roll a necromancer now and claim to be a ‘pro’ at it. The way they’re being used currently, I honestly don’t want to play mine. Which is sad, she’s been my favorite since I made her and I knew her better than any of my characters. Just don’t feel like I can be proud to play it well anymore.

I think we were way overdone, and need a re-balancing. Also, burning? Still trying to find where that one fits into the lore of a Necromancer..
