@Stars sorry, but I posted a reply by a GM in my support ticket, if you get hacked and someone else takes your name you are SOL about your name, so my Girlfriend and I won’t be playing GW2 till its changed. Also @FateOmega the only way you can garentee you’ll have a name no one would want would look like this “Ajnmljhnk Mojuuhk” I think you get the idea.
Ok so you think it’d be ok for someone to pay a hacker to hack your account and delete your character so they can have it 24 hours later because they thought your name is cool, ok, there are games that people has had their accounts hacked and sold, so the person who bought the account should be allowed to keep the account since they didn’t hack it.
@Drix My Girlfriend and I know not to goto dodgy sites, I’ve had a WoW 10 day trial account hacked due to a mistake I haven’t made since, and been getting emails from those kittens every since, I asked about what if while your account is compromised and someone made a character with your name after it was deleted here is what a GM replied, " If a name of one of the characters is currently in use by another account, we will not be able to return that character’s name to it and the next time you attempt to log that character into the game you will be asked to rename the character from its temporary place holder name. "
I think its a load of bull, my Girlfriend and I spent tones of time on our characters, and knowing this is driving us not to play unless that policy is changed, its like someone stolen a custom designed ring and gave it to someone else and the police saying “I’m sorry but someone else has the ring so you gotta replace the one you had” it wouldn’t be the same, people know YOU by your name, if your a norn warrior named Roger Dodger and 3 days later your a asuran elementalist with the same name and they don’t know you, you’ll know something is wrong, my Girlfriend and I think this is total ****.
Replace your email notification. The authenticator on your cell phone is much more secure. It’s an app that gives you a series of numbers that you need to log into that computer for the first time. This number changes every 30 seconds so even if someone has your account name and password, hacking a 6 digit number in under 30 seconds would be pretty hard to do.

If you follow the advice, your password will become much more secure.
I read the comic strip, my Girlfriend and I already follow those rules of unique passwords.
They did mention that they would be able to provide 1 account rollback. However, I would take the utmost precaution.
well would that also restore names of deleted characters? because if your character gets deleted the names are only reserved for 24 hours after deletion thats what we’er wondering, I could lose my gear and money and that wouldn’t bother me, but my character is what I’d be more worried about, I worked my darier off on them and my build is catered to my play style, so I’d hate to get my account back and have my bank full of items and have to use new characters due to not being able to get them back.
My Girlfriend and I are kinda getting skittish about “What if our accounts got hacked?” we were asking each other what happens if were not on for 2 or 3 days and someone hacked our accounts and deleted our characters? would Anet be able to get our characters back? and what if someone made a character with our names during the hacked time frame? we want to know we’d be able to get our characters back, we have 1 lvl 80 each and some so close you can almost smell it, me personally, if I get my character but lose all my items, I’d be fine with that since most of the gear I have is replacable, I just like to know if there is a good chance of getting my character back.
Some people would prefer to complain than get help, I have played a lot of other MMO games free and paid, none looks as good as this and plays as smooth, what I mean by that is this, the games either looked like junk but was smooth as silk, or look great and ran like a 1 legged dog, plus you can’t beat the support for the game, they are always working on it, and fixing things on the fly, one game I played the company would release a event it would be broke if the event lasted 14 days they would finally fix it on day 13, and almost have no updates and no support at all, so I’d say Anet is doing great.
ok found out what was wrong, my paypal had the wrong time zone, for anyone else that runs into the same problem like I did check your paypal account timezone settings.
I have been trying to buy gems using paypal for like the past hour to get more character slots but keep getting this insted “An error occurred finalizing your purchase.” I have checked all my paypal info and made sure everything matched and still get that message.
I used my Laurels on a box for gear and made like 4g on 1 item and the other was worth like 60 silver but I would probably use those for other items that could be sold to buy more influence.
The frozen Maw and the Svanir dome events seem to be stuck on the norther shiverpieks server, Brogun is just standing at the totem like a doof, while the dome, I’m not sure what part its stuck at but I think its where the NPC’s are trying to cap the part at the center, but theres nothing to indicate it needs to be capped.

is that talking about character name or display name? can a Dev. clarify?
I think its a good idea to have a 1 time name change for free and having to buy additional, and if its possible how about this, if someone has a name change after breaking ToS the old name can still be linked to the account so that the name change won’t make it easy to break rules and get by with it.

there is a E with a line above it where the dot between abilities are supposed to be, its even in the crafting list and when looking at a map and you hover the mouse over a merchant it’s more like an A with a line above it.
I had this issue after the last update before the standard maintenance till this last one but now my Girlfriend has this issue, I’m posting a screenshot with the issue circled.
Personalty I like the thought of them holding off on info till its 100% done since I have played other games that would over promise and then break the game during an event, I’ve played one game that almost every event was like that, this is much better IMO since you know what day to expect it and know that they check for bugs before release to me that’s a win win.
ArenaNet work in PST times, go ask Google to get it converted to your own timezone.
And when they say January 28th, I’m very certain they mean sometime during 28th PST… which means it’ll be 29th before many Europeans and further east get to experience the update.
God.. people who freak out over this, the same people who kept bugging Anet over and over for a release date and screaming about being lied to, etc. etc. It’s like cry-wolf and my ears are just deaf to whenever they open their mouth now. Impatient kids, you’ll have a whole month to experience it before the Feb update, why are you freaking out? It’s a game, not your life, calm down…
I do not remember seeing ANet say anywhere it’ll be available at midnight your local time, just January 28th PST, my first thought to no time was “Was this a typo error?” but I see why they just gave a general time, but people are still mad that it may not be at the exact time they want.
Seriously people just let them work on it and release it when its ready. =/ Get some sleep/ go out side and play/ see a movie/ take your girl/guy out for a burger…Study for a test/ Ya know…do some RL stuff =p
But we were doing this for last 3 months waiting to some game update. For WvW, for sPvP. Now after 4 months of buying this game, we would like to finally play good game.
Try some PvE that’s fun too, I play both PvE and WvW and their both fun.
Ok, some of these people needs to learn patients, this thread was started long before the 28th started in PST, heck it’s still not midnight yet, I remember in GW1 the update was normally around 2 am and I’d see “A new build is available please log out and back to download it” geez people relax and enjoy the game till the patch is released.

2: is it a bannable offence if it’s just 1 keypress/mouse command per button?
Hi. My girlfriend and I use it due to complications with keyboard and mouse controls, we do still have to use the keyboard for the F key skills (F1, F2 ect.) we just don’t want to get in trouble for using it, I hope they add native controller support, Thanks in advance.
