I play power longbow gs in top 250 pvp, it’s pretty good. Not broken, you have to play it pretty well, but I’m not sure it needs buffs.

Using the 3 and swapping to a weapon with intelligence sigil has always been a fun combo. The 2 does pretty good damage point blank. #4 Blind is aoe and pretty easy to hit untargeted which gives some options while kiting. #5 is a long bleed and immob which is obviously pretty useful, especially if you work around the animation. And of course combustive shot is a great way to proc adrenal, and does good hybrid damage.

TLDR Longbow is pretty good in pvp. Some small buffs to both power and condi damage wouldn’t hurt, but the skills themselves are fun and work well together.

Is Last Stand bugged?

Maybe it’s different in lower divisions, but from my experience in plat (over 50 games this season) those I know in plat, and all the top players I watch on twitch, I have yet to see a decent Ventari rev die 1v1. I hate to say it, but maybe all the decent Ventari revs are rated high enough you aren’t getting in games with them. Fits with the theory that the build carries players to divisions higher than they deserve.

There is no viable build in the game with enough damage to kill a competent (~plat 1 level) Ventari rev 1v1. I honestly think they’re not the worst, but the knockback spam is just a bit too obnoxious, easy to execute, and difficult to deal with in solo q.

Going back to gs/axe+shield
str/def/disc
Going full might boons + might makes right
(mending+5might on heal / Bulls for the extra evade also / SoR (signet of rage)
This trait feels 10 times more Elite compared to Elite berserker.

Too bad i used to love gs/rifle berserker but its crap now.


What are you guys planning to do? waiting for spellbreaker?

You are soon to get your face stomped, 3 adrenaline bars are simply too much of a ramp up time for a game that ends its duels in 10 seconds flat.

I have been playing this core build since just after the patch came out. It is very strong. Against sub par opponents I’ve won multiple 1v2s and a 1v3. Against top tier opponents, I’ve been winning my 1v1s, and doing lots of damage in team fights unless I get cc chained.

I would take the physicals trait + rampage, it’s just so much damage and cc, especially if you’re already taking bull’s charge. Also, I take either signet of might or endure pain depending on the enemy team. With reckless dodge, axe and gs, you’re not hurting for adrenaline, so I don’t see the need for signet of rage.

Unless you’re a bunker trying to outbunker it, I dont see how there’s so much trouble killing them

Energy regens quickly enough where they can continually summon and explode tablets over and over, don’t forget that once a tablet explodes it leaves behind shards that heal you for a decent amount and if you’re the only one on the node from your team you will have a sea of sparkly healing shards before long.

They can also swap legends to actually fight back if they need to. I’m NOT saying they are invincible or anything of the sort, just saying the Ventari Elite is a little out of hand currently with the knockback.

I agree with this assessment. It’s not ridiculously broken, but strong, gimmicky, and annoying. The rev doesn’t have to do much but follow their rotation and switch to glint if they’re really getting pressured. It can survive most 1v2s indefinitely, and is especially aids on clocktower.

The main issue I think is not that it’s strong (which it is) but that just about all these revenants do is spam dodge block and knockback. It’s not fun or interesting game play, and isn’t difficult at all. With this toned back, and some other functionality added, bunker rev could be in a better place.

The minimap sucks.

Not only that, but red profession symbols against the brown (at least I think it’s brown) backdrop makes it even more confusing if you have red/green colorblindness.

It’s very frustrating to look at the map and trying to figure out if a thief’s gunna be on you or not, and get punished because you can’t make the symbol out in the overlapping mess.

All sorts of things could be done to make the map cleaner and more visible, even just messing with the contrast or outlining the profession symbols in white or something. Settings and options for colors would be great. Options to pop up a bigger map would be great too.

Good stuff! I really liked the pov switch, going to revenant for the staff 5. Some other cool moments in there too.

I think if you’re willing to spend the editing time, slowing or stopping footage to explain the context of a fight, rotations, matchups, or even mechanical things would be really cool. The idea of multiple pov’s at the same time is also really interesting. It might be easier to interpret if you cropped the sides off, zoomed in, or even parially overlayed them with a fade on the edges. Not really sure how to explain what I’m picturing, but I think messing with how you present that could make for a really cool video highlighting 2v2s or something.

In any case, I’d definitely like to see more. Nobody really posts this kind of content, so it’s exciting to see.

I’ve gotten stuck two or three times in the past couple weeks because of random pulls/ports. This seems a lot more common recently for some reason, I’ve seen it happen to a few people as well. I’ve gotten it from infiltrator arrow (maybe other thief ports) as well as a dh pulling me. Ended up stuck in a wall in graveyard, as well as the tall rock right next to mine.

I had no idea about the requirements for /stuck to work. Maybe you could actually have a message in game when someone types /stuck that tells them they need to stay still and all that. I’ve sat there and spammed /stuck not knowing how it works. Now, of course, I have just been relogging as soon as it happens. It’s still frustrating that this happens so often and will force you to reload, AND spend 37 seconds dead waiting to respawn.

For someone that doesn’t know how to deal with it, they can be stuck for minutes, scared to log out because dishonor isn’t explained to them either.

The headline here is lack of communication.

I think pve players underestimate the amount of people that would have played pvp constantly if it was supported. As bad as the support was, many pure pvp players (myself included) stayed and played pvp exclusively for a long time.

The problem is the competitive scene dies when there is no communication, set tournaments, or season date to look forward to. It really sends the message that they don’t want us here, since they won’t take the easiest and most basic steps to keeping pvp players.

The upcoming automated tournaments are a great idea, and I guess we’ll see if they’re too late. It’s just incredible to me that they won’t commit to a schedule, when it is so easy and would allow us pvp players to at least know what we’re getting.

Does nobody in this post realize that all the other classes got gutted in the patch? Meanwhile Necro got buffed. Even if it effectively stays the same, necro will not be bad. I think everybody here would benefit from going to twitch and watching noscoc’s past broadcasts. The two big things he does are

1: kite really well, positioning is king for necro
2: understand how the other classes work

I’ve found necro very effective with my knowledge of playing other classes. You don’t even need this, Nos pretty much just plays necro. You just need to be willing to learn.

Shield Bash and Headbutt... Why?

It’s just not a good feeling to be sooo slow with these abilities. It hurts the fluidity of play. Just getting in to some early games, both shield bash and headbutt were getting interrupted randomly. That is not fun, and basically a death sentence. Thief can headshot them every time now, and there’s nothing you can do about it, especially with stability nerfs.

This is a bigger deal with the HUGE reliance on adrenal health and cleansing ire (that got even worse with the heal signet nerf). Headbutt and shield bash are almost more important as defensive tools than they are offensive. Most clearly with headbutt, you need it to get your cleansing ire going. If you don’t land it, it becomes very slow and difficult to build adrenaline, and therefore slow and difficult to remove conditions.

So not only are these nerfs the wrong type of nerf and frustrating to play with, they combine with the other changes to really destroy survivability. I don’t see how warrior can survive a +1 any more, especially not a thief, when everything can be interrupted.

Passive procs need to go.

I think this post is warranted but it’s good to recognize the value of passive procs. They allow more depth in combat without adding more active skills. There aren’t that many other ways to do this. It’s just important not to make them ridiculous or have too many of them at once. Warrior’s passive stances for example are OK right now. They maybe raise the skill floor a bit, but they don’t go too far. Any build in existence can easily play around them, especially if the warrior isn’t making use of how his/her passives work.

Diamond Skin ele on the other hand..

Very powerful and much more demoralizing if it you can’t deal with it. We’ll see how the new version works out. My initial thoughts are maybe better design wise but too powerful. Time will tell though.

So you either have to go for heavy condition cleanse and extra heavy boon application to fight a necro, or heavy condition cleanse and as few boons as possible. Might corrupts into 10 seconds of weakness! Weakness is a powerful condition. And a necro has plenty of cover conditions to help with keeping it on.

With boon corruption becoming more frequent, condition cleanse now becomes more necessary than ever, or else you’ll almost always have weakness, chill and poison on you, which imo are the three most powerful condition. They reduce the damage you deal, the frequency you dodge, your movement speed, your cooldown speed, and the healing you take. Anet, please…PLEASE don’t give more condition cleanse next balance patch. For the sake of this game, reduce boon application, boon corruption, and maybe even condition cleanse.

Well said. I didn’t touch on condition cleanse vs conditions but it is exactly the same problem.

It’s still a 3*AA skill, can be blocked, evaded, blinded and more, and you need to spend 1.5 sec on the AA to corrupt a boon. it’s not so good as you think.

I really hope that this change will reduce the boon spam.

We need lesser Boons and more Active Gameplay!

I realize this is a rather small change. As you said it’s the third autoattack and won’t hit that often. The real problem is the trend this is a part of. My view is that instead of fighting boons with corrupt, Arenanet should just reduce boon spam in general. It may take a while for them to really consider this, and it would need to be in a big balance patch, but it is really needed.

Right now we’re trundling around in a world of boring walls of boons. Cutting boon generation I believe is the way to bring everything in line and bring us back to the Active Gameplay we love

What’s an Ele without boons? Ele has no worthy active defense beside boons. Or do they want Ele to rely on that 75s cd block?

My idea is that access to boons on each class should be nerfed. You’re right that ele depends on boons so they should still have some strong boon generation after the nerf to remain viable. It’s just that overall, there shouldn’t be this many boons and boon counters flying around.

Necros the masters of corruption and death/life… yeah sounds like boon corruption is right down their alley. Im liking it. Condition Necros will be getting a nice buff.

See this is the problem. Sure its flavorful and feels good if you’re playing necro, but the game overall suffers because of the chain reactions it causes in meta builds.

Part of what inspired me to write this. I like might stack warrior builds and that just can’t be a thing if boons/condi rips and corrupts are out of hand. Either they make warrior spam random boons or they start nerfing the boon saturation on other classes. Making warrior spam boons is the easy choice, but nerfing others is healthier for the game.

I realize this isn’t a huge change, but I think it’s a bad one. Looking at why it’s bad is important because it is part of a trend of changes I find dangerous to the enjoyability of pvp. SO HERE’S WHY IT’S BAD:

1. With all the other changes coming to stop bunkers, it shouldn’t really be needed to bring them in line.

2. I see this punishing non-bunker builds just as much as bunkers. Errebody needs boons.

3. It’s moving us in a direction where boons are trivialized. To be effective you’ll want many boons pulsing out on short durations so corrupt doesn’t hurt as much. The current tempest and bunker mesmer builds are already like this. imo, boons are more fun when they have longer lasting impact and are actually a thing you play around. For this to be a thing, boon corrupts/rips can’t be too common.

4. Necro is already the best class to corrupt boons. Necro has nearly always been thought of as a niche class, or one meant to hard counter specific builds and this is pushing it more in that direction.

5. Looking at my last two points in a different way: this is a good example of dangerous power creep. Small changes like this will pile up on each other and push the game in a direction that wasn’t originally intended. Here, I see the trivialization of boons as the main consequence.

Well that’s all. I hope some of you share my concern about power creep and weird changes like this. I’m not on the forums a lot but please give me some feedback.
I’d appreciate a discussion not based on “my class should be buffed because..”

That is not true. Thief has some Skills which are bad, some design flaws which are kitten + A whole traitline that doesn’t make a sense now with daredevil (Acro). Thief lacks at some spots hard. Ah and Build Diversity is also bad, tell me why has every thief Trickery? because it is balanced? lol

So you’re complaining about problems literally every class has except for Revenant. It would be great if everyone had build diversity but lets just start by balancing classes in relation to each other and making gameplay fun.

I think these are fine changes to bring thief up slightly to where it should be.

The problem is that overall balance will continue to be in a bad place until many things are nerfed. Thief changes won’t be needed if scrapper tempest rev chrono are brought down to where they should be.

The thing with the Krait 6th bonus is that it goes off a little over a second after the elite skill finishes. It doesn’t matter if the elite skill hits or not, Krait is treated as a separate ability and you have to learn the timing if you want to avoid it.

The skill revives the pet if it’s dead and then the pet revives the ranger. That part isn’t a bug.

If the pet remains invulnerable for more than a second or two, that would be a bug.

The ranger is not invulnerable. Not a pvp player, but I’ve died plenty of times during lick wounds.

I’m not talking about the ranger, I’m talking about the pet. And it doesn’t happen every time, just a significant amount.

This has probably been brought up before but it still remains a big problem.

In a significant amount of my downed fights against ranger, they will use their 3 skill with a dead pet. For some reason, the pet is still able to rez the ranger, but is invulnerable to cc or damage.

It would be great to know if you plan to fix this.

The past 4 or 5 games I’ve been against premades and didn’t appear to have a team on my side. Each time I have been focused down by a burst team making use of portal plays they must have communicated over TS. I hope you can imagine how frustrating it is to be so much at the mercy of matchmaking. All I want is to play fair games at a high level. Without that, you will lose me to mobas that offer more chances to advance, and accurate representations of skill.
