Just lost another game cause opponents (rightfully) wouldn’t kill me and turned the tides. This is just unacceptable!

Once stuck under coliseum center platform and now behind Niflhel center.

bOTEB your logic is wrong. Just some hours ago I had a game where our mesmer ask one of two necros to switch to ele. They didn’t and he almost refused to start the game – he decided that the current class group was useless. Only after we started pinging at him and asking him to move he finally did. And guess what we won easily by 200+ pts margin. If he hadn’t move we would have lost that game 100%.

There are some other topics that imply MMR engine isn’t that perfect (and I agree) but that isn’t an excuse to quit a match. You should think more of the team and less of your personal feelings. If you can’t handle that take a break go out for a walk, a drink, have some good time. Get yourself into some positive mood then compete. That’s my point of view and not aimed personally at you.

I have experienced matches we were behind 100 pts or more and team pushed back and won. Of course the MMR isn’t perfect and extremely unbalanced matches occur but until you get that ‘375/100’ why not try giving your best? I had a case where a guy rq after the 1st fight of the game (where we lost mid) how normal is that?

Voting for dishonor might be a solution if it would be taken into account by the MMR engine. Also another solution could be a movement timer (a very tight one) who would inform the idle player and prompt him to move near a cap point.

For sure this is a serious issue and the devs should do something about it.

It sounds like you got placed higher than you deserved, Dreddo. That can happen in placements because the deviation from each match is so high.

Of course I dont pretend I should be that high but there were joke games with ridiculous scores for …gold level (not placement).

I then started playing with my brother who had also similar experience (dropped to silver 2 and now is gold 2 again) and not only the games were close and competitive but also made an 11 win streak. I dont know if it matters but a lot of bad games took place early morning CET hours (I am European).

I am a decent player and started at 3 gold after placement – the strangething was that in 2 even 3 gold matches there were lots bad players and got like a 20+ straight of defeats (!). Some even with ridiculous scores. Something aint right with the match making engine for sure.

I don’t care about my personal rating rather than some fun and good (balanced) matches. If it is about giving ‘less queue time matches’ I personally prefer to wait more in order to get a balanced game.

Hello all,

I am sure this has been discussed thoroughly but I want to re-emphasize the need of some sort of action against deliberately idle/rage quitting players. PvP is a team game so when a player is raged and quits he leads his whole team into defeat. I had this happen a lot of time and it cost definitely the game.

I am not into the developers’ mind but possibly a ‘no action timer’ including skills, movement and positioning on the map (like never leaving the safe area) might indicate such a player. As a penalty I would propose giving him double the minus points for a defeat and if he repeats that even more.

What other people think?

Thanks.

PS – reporting an idle player doesn’t seem to do anything or does it?

How difficult can this be? when he can land all these skills in about half a second?

I’ve played warrior (main), necro (a lot), revenant and guardian and in all those classes it is impossible to pull such a combo in …500ms.

I was on WvW and met an Ele with my necro. I went straight on him and guess what he comboed me from distance and took about about 69% of my HP (21k) almost instantly (my armor is 2350).

crit hit 2,492 w/ Lightning Flash
norm hit 923 w/ Lightning Strike
norm hit 665 w/ Sigil of Blood
crit hit 2,240 w/ Arcane Blast
crit hit 4,046 w/ Phoenix
norm hit 825 w/ Air Attunement
crit hit 3,531 w/ Lightning Strike

the above sums up to : 14,722 in less than one second! Then a couple of more hits and I was down didn’t even have the time to go into shroud.

In a world where nerf is the holy grail of ‘…balance…’ I just can’t believe is this for real? ^^

I have an ss with a 2nd guy lying down dead besides me (came to help) who also died in 2 or 3 seconds after I was stomped. In less than 30" that ele had killed us both.

Regarding my game experience I am the average joe and not claiming I shouldn’t be more careful but… having classes bursting that much in so little time (if it was legit ofc) is a gamebreaker.

Best wvw condi reaper build?!?!?!

in Necromancer

Dreddo.9865

I am no expert either but I am finding that slight variation in necro builds really interesting. I would opt for condi duration since most WvW players are familiar with condi cleansing. Since we talk about a pure condi approach I would go Trailblazer over Viper getting the extra survivability as a bonus.

Something like this:

Seems like you are a new player so going “full glass” while you are expected to learn the mechanics of your class and the various modes of GW2 might be a frustrating experience.

*Glass means you put all stats in damage

I will also suggest to put some toughness on you (preferably with the trinkets be it rings, accessories, the amulet or even the backpack) and start around 2,5k armor.

Don’t even think of going in World versus World (or WvW) with that set you will be dying like a fly.

WvW backline condi build (GvG)

Dreddo.9865

Hello all,

this is my first attempt on creating something I feel it might suit me better. I am no expert in the necro class but here we are and would like to hear from some experienced WvW necros.

What I want to do is have a backline bombing necro that can make enemy group pushes difficult with marks and wells. I also want him to have decent survivability for the random thief attack (an impossible task if caught unaware) and have good dps in shroud for the counter-attack phase.

I concluded to the below:

Any comments will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Legendary Armor and WvW [Merged]

in WvW

Dreddo.9865

Spvp, fractal, dungeon, metas, etc. players don’t get legendary armor either.

Multiple sets of ascended gear costs less than one set of legendary gear, be it weapons, armor, or backpacks.

There’s no advantage to legendary gear other than the skin, the challenge of obtaining it, and prestige of having it; if you’re into that sort of thing.

Actually there is in that you can change stats and runes on the fly saving you from the need to carry extra items in the inventory solely for WvW purposes.

WvW Frontline build

in Guardian

Dreddo.9865

Hello all,

I did a small research but I am still unsure of the path or the variations I might follow. What I want is true frontline ability and decent survivability but not to the point that I neglect damage.

On Metabattle there is a celestial armor set (Trinkets too) recommended on the build for which the traits I guess must be more or less the same. But I read for Commander’s or Marauder’s for extra damage, or Wanderer’s, Minstrel’s or Soldier’s for extra defense.

Because I will be crafting the armor I would appreciate your input on the available variations and their expected performance. What do you think might be the better choice for a novice frontliner, what would be the most versatile option (allowing me to roam), or the jack of all trades (if any), etc.
*Build links are also welcome.

About weapons what is your favorite hammer or GS and why?

Thanks to all in advance.

Should zerk gear be used by casual players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dreddo.9865

Dreddo.9865

I had myself the same question when I started 8 months ago.

I was advised for a zerker/scholar (glass) build and tbh I had some rough time especially in my first visits at WvW. Had to sit down and read more about my class, equipment and build.

The good with GW2 is that characters are highly customisable so with small tweaks you can bring your character close to where it suits your playstyle. Some people may support the “pure DPS” build dogmatically but personally I prefer having a teammate dealing 1k damage less than dying every 30 secs.

TLDR: read some sites like metabattle to get ideas, play enough to learn your class and adjust the build so that you are efficient.

Warrior WvW build

in Warrior

Posted by: Dreddo.9865

Dreddo.9865

Hello I am relatively new to the game but reading your post brought sad memories of my own to mind.

In my experience in WvW you need toughness. New players like us will have the ‘one mistake allowed’ chance with this stat boosted. If it is low you will get smashed very easily if you get nervous, confused or not knowing what you do – and this happens quite often =)

This is the build I use with Greatsword as main and sword with shield for the added mobility and the ‘Final Thrust’ skill which if mastered can prove deadly.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJEQNAR8enMdANegdhAmhAElilrA7d0WaXtIBgEQqTJH06qBA-TlCBQBnUJIWUyoQ1fCwDAwLKh0oyh8oRQI7PAgLAQHOIAkCoIlRA-w

The basic weakness of warrior is condition damage so I choose Melandru runes and condition damage cleanse traits, paired with “condition damage duration decrease” food to balance that. DPS wise it’s not the most efficient but when going Berserk it provides some nice burst.
My set and jewels are all ascended and I believe this extra stat boost (compared to exotic) produces a slight but visible difference.

Hope I helped a bit.

PS- this build is not my idea, what I posted is a common “WvW roam warrior” build adjusted to my needs.
