Hello all! I hope I choose the right forums to post this in
I am looking for a very active server to transfer to for WvW
I play at all different times of the day due to Uni classes being scattered everywhere
I tried transferring to Sea of Sorrows which has a very strong oceanic presence but during NA time seems very empty ( like 11 people in EB with comm )
I was going to transfer to black gate as apparently it has the highest population ( which is also awesome for world events like Wurm! ) but it is a T1 server and dont wanna join to just piggy back along.
I mostly enjoy huge WvW zerg play! if anyone could recommend a server that would be amazing

No. It means they’re hard to play. That doesn’t mean they’re underpowered when played decently. It certainly does mean a bad elementalist is underpowered compared to a bad warrior or guardian or ranger.
To me that says that the class is inherently underpowered, the fact that a good player can get past that limitation is pretty much irrelevant.
A bad Ele will probably lose to a bad warrior, but a good ele is on at least the same level as a good warrior.
Look at it this way…have you ever played Tekken?
If you have two people who have never played Tekken before, one chooses Law and one chooses Jack. 99.9% of the time, the one who chose Law will win. However! If you have a master Law player fighting a master Jack player, the Jack will win more often than the master Law. It’s because there are intricacies about the game that, when grasped, make the advantages that Law has (faster attacks, mostly) basically irrelevant.
I’m not saying this is how the Elementalist is, but I know that there is a point where the Elementalist is at least as good as, say, a warrior of the same skill level. The game hasn’t been out long enough to know this yet, but for all we know, the Master Ele may be the most valuable player in the game.This is absolutely wrong.
I came here from soulcalibur5 (aka tekkencalibur -.-) being in that game at good levels for almost 7 years…(knowing all framedata etc)I really loved a bottom tier character, the worst of all…and having lot of experience i could do really well with him despite beating other high level players was really hard if not impossible sometimes.
Yet few elitist players continued to say the character was fine and i wasn t good enough……(until i single handedly beat them with a “dumb” character simply exploiting weaknesses they refused to discuss answering with the same void arguments*).Other excuse was “the game have just been released”……
result: the game is now almopst deserted because people don t want balance and prefers using the same 2-3 excuses that can be used for any argument…..
So if now something doesn t work it have to be fixed with what we know NOW and not keeped as it is because we could not know something…
If something other will be discovered making ele OP it will be fixed accordingly….nerfing is often easier than buffing.
*on the other hand in that game dumb characters are those with difficult execution that once grasped can kill you without even looking at the monitor…
So execution should never reward a character much because in the long run any monkey can press buttons in the right order.

Can i buy and use the vigil gear even tho i choose to side with the priory in my main story line? ( i want the power / tough / vitality gear )
i use mostly staff so i will add some of my ideas to your thread
- remove auto attacks?
- I find the auto attacks very boring and sometimes weak, i’d prefer to see maybe a medium damage spell with a short CD ( this will also help with us lacking burst dps that other classes have right now ) that can be used with our combo fields or maybe apply various debuffs that increase damage of our other abilitites or to combo with over spells eg.
Fireball – deals X damage, ( can apply burning if shot through a fire field ) debuff – the next water spell to hit this target will cause it to take X damage and cause vulnerability 4 stacks.
Waterblast – deals X damage and heals all nearby allies AROUND THE CASTER ( can apply regen or vulnerability if shot through a water or lightning fields ) debuff – the next lightning spell to hit the target will become stunned for 1 sec? ( to OP? maybe just a daze? )
etc etc. – but the idea is to give even more synergy between attunments and also options! – the ele will have to decide to going to water to get those vuln stacks! or going straight to earth in order to gain a root or magnectic shield
- Skills
Shockwave – let us cast this in any direction we want!!! not just at our target ( make it similar to the warriors great sword spin that we get an an arrow pointing the direction it will go )
Gust – Same as above i want more control of my knockback not them just being able to strafe out of it
meteor shower – Needs fixing to be more consistent with damage not random hits
eruption – I dont think there is a slower animated spell in the history of mmo’s i have played, and its damage its really just not worth it at all, make it a shorter animation also so I can combo it with lava font without having to put down eruption first
- Traits
there is already so many posts on this so i want go into great detail, but some small ideas:
Fire – increase the damage of all AoE abilities
water – increase the radius of all AoE abilities ( this can be combo’d with arcana to make them quite big and very effective! )
Air – when an opponent is criticaly hit with an AoE attack it will cause a debuff depending on the attunment ( lava font – burning )
earth – an additional field will be cast below the elementalists feet when useing AoE ground targeted spells ( lava font can be put on the ground and another under your feet! )
i focused really hard on just AoE abilitites sorry but i didnt want to spend all day writing out ideas :/ maybe people can expand of what i have or just balance them ( i didnt spell check dont hate )

The game has been out long enough, And while i think your comparison was an odd choice I get your point.
I’ve been doing sPvP alot lately ( I still get refused for tPvP a lot and i have come to accept this hopeing we will get fixed soon as tpvp is something i really wanted to experience ). Yea i can beat warriors, but only bad / average players, Yea i can beat thieves but only bad / average players again ( etc etc. )
I am not claiming to be a master of the class but when i verse a player of equal skill, i just wont beat them (engins, rangers and necro i feel ok with) but when a good warrior or rogue is on me, i cant shake them off and the damage is just to much to survive or out burst them down
Total crap that good players will do just as well with any class. Elementalists are a waste of time right now in spvp. I re-rolled a thief in spvp and was facerolling in about 2 mins.
That’s because Thieves aren’t hard to play, and most people are too dumb to know how to kill them.
All classes have skill to play, yes there are a lot of HS spammers in Spvp because they are current FoTM.
But when you come across a player who is skilled at the thieve class you just wont beat him as ele.
The damage and utility ( stealth in this case ) abilities they have access to just far surpasses ours – If you think your an elitist and can beat any thieve then good on you , but I doubt the thieves you have been playing against are any good at all
To the OP hope you left feedback for arenanet on it.
I have not – how can i do this ? , it only lets me file bug reports in-game not actual feedback
this is becoming extremely frustrating and game breaking after asking if I could join a CoF group his initial response to me being ele was " Ehh " i’ve taken a screen shot below more as proof ( he then stated that he wanted someone more " tanky " but i got the feeling this was more of a nice way to so gtfo your an ele )
this is now extremely game breaking now that I am very limited to the amount of groups that will actually invite me! and its makeing it very hard to progress
it would be great if Anet gave some indication of when this is going to be looked at / or if it is at all going to be looked at all
or has there already been an indication? if so can anyone give me a link or point me in the right direction?
I dont feel like i was being questioned about my skill but rather why take me as an ele when they could get a different class which does everything better then me.
It does come down to player skill i know, but i am being turned down for these groups without even a chance to prove my skill only based on the class that i choose to play.
Being turned down for a dungeon run for the reason that I play an elementalist was a bit of a kick in the bawls today :/
i also seen a tourney group starting that didn’t want any elementalists
this is really only going to get worse from here i feel
In not way am i claiming i am an elitist but i play my class very well and have had a few compliments in sPvP from apposing teams and players as well. But to be denied into a group for a dungeon run because of the class i play :/
is anyone else getting this problem? or was this just a once of?
i am starting to fear that soon i will have to re-roll a different class just to experience level 80 content
I agree with some of your points made here,
casting time – the delayed damage on some of the AoE’s is a bit frustrating i usually only get 1 tick of damage maybe 2 if i am very lucky or the target isn’t smart
damage – our abilities actually can do a bit of damage the trouble is most are very easily avoidable makeing us seem like we do no damage – dragons tooth for example floats above for a length time before dropping causing its damage and most players avoid it very easily. Instead of buffing our damage simply decreasing the animation so the dragons tooth lands very quickly is more viable fix imo ( i used dragons tooth as an example but this should apply to most of our spells )
survival – I just agree here we do seem to have the lowest health and armor and don’t do the burst damage to counter this.
cc – i disagree here i feel our CC isn’t horrible ( static field can be very very buggy tho ), sure its not as good as other classes but we don’t have to be the best at everything
elite skills – Yeah a bit bland
I disagree that we are badly made, i feel it is the funniest class for me by far, its just very upsetting that our high skill cap is not rewarded with good damage or decent survivability
So if they are weak we are not allowed to play a class that we enjoy? many of us enjoy the play style of ele’s.
The game hasn’t been out long either so most of us are hoping for bug fixes and slight buff.
yes due to having 20 abilities to manage we are the hardest class to master but the problem lies that even if you are great at playing an ele if your versing any other class and the player is at equivalent skill its still an uphill battle.
A cheesy example is verse rogues, the ones who run around spamming HS strike i would generally take down with ease but if the rogue is making full use of all of his skills / abilities I either have to build very tanky to survive his bursts, or i will get taken out of the fight very quickly.
Having both a 80 warrior and 80 ele – farming is a lot easier on warrior even with fresh level 80 gear

so the exotic gear from Orr are better then the T3 culture sets in the main city?
So i just hit 80 and i have 80k karma but i am so confused on how to gear for level 80.
I read posts that say all level 80 gear is the same? – I’ve already crafted some level 80 green gear with silk but there is a tier above silk that i haven’t even used ( gosemer ? ) does this actually has the same stats as the T3 culture armors / weapons?
If this isn’t true should i buy the culture T3 gear? or should i wait till we down one of the bosses in Orr and purchase karma gear from the vendors that spawn? – is there a difference between these armors?
At the moment i am extremely lost any help would be appreciated thank you
