Feedback: Druid and Revenant underwater

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I know you guys don’t focus much on underwater combat anymore, but an entire feature of the druid (glyphs) is not usable underwater, when it seems like there’s not really any reason for it, I mean, necros can use wells underwater. Some of us DO like to be ready for underwater combat and have our builds available underwater as well as above.

As for the revenant, could you make more legends usable underwater? I don’t care about a second weapon, but at least make it so that when we pick a legend underwater, it remembers it like it does other underwater skills, so we don’t have to switch to something that’s not blank every time we enter the water.

It bothers me that tigers are terrestrial and not amphibious. Because tigers IRL love water. It doesn’t make sense for the other cats to be able to go in water but not tigers. I hope they can go underwater at launch. Not a big deal but, it’d be nice if at least one of the pets could go underwater.
Also, druids should be holding the staff the standard old way, since it is a magic staff and not a melee staff.

Will we be able to choose any race for revenant this time, or is it still human-only?

It may surprise you gentlemen to find out that white-knighting to the point of insulting others about their lifestyle and gaming choices isn’t appropriate on a CS resume, then.

And yes. I’m camping the thread for a fix. I’m a member of a relatively large guild on TC that had a meeting scheduled today that will have to be cancelled without a fix. By all means, please fall back on telling me that we all need to go outside and get lives, when you can fit it in between rabidly punching the refresh button looking for more people to kitten on.

It’s kind of your own guild’s fault for scheduling a meeting on April Fools day when pranks like this on April Fools day aren’t exactly new for Anet. Didn’t anyone in your guild think, “hey, maybe we should schedule this on a different day since it’s pretty likely anet will pull a prank on april 1st?” guess not.

It’s March 31st.

On server time (and in europe) it’s april 1st. It’s not Anet’s fault that your guild couldn’t plan around this or that you didn’t know this and the simple fact that they do this every year.

Honestly. If you people can’t chill out and a take a break from your regular MMO activities ONE DAY A YEAR then you seriously need to go outside and find something other than MMOs to do with your life.

If your guild kicks you after only one day of inactivity then you need a new guild.

Maize Farm in Rata Sum is over

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dubbleyew.1029

The problem was, that Rata Sum is a racial city. That means there will be newbies there exploring the map, and many of them may not know what’s going on and will simply attack an enemy upon seeing it, not because they’re trolls but just by playing the game. Then they get yelled at and cursed at, etc. This gives newbies a bad impression of the community and can drive them away. It’s the same reason why the champ train in Queensdale was nerfed while the ones in higher level zones still exist. Let newbies play the game normally in low-level zones, and let the veteran players farm in high level zones. That’s how it should be.

So, I’m glad this was nerfed. There’s plenty of ambient creatures outside of the cities, go use them if you really must keep doing this.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dubbleyew.1029

Dubbleyew.1029

One thing you could do that might make some people happy and be relatively easy to implement would be to simply allow any character of any class to talk to any trainer and buy the trait books for other classes. The trait books obviously wouldn’t work with the wrong class, but you could put the account-bound but not soulbound trait books into the bank and use them for another toon.
Basically, allow us to use our extra skill points we have on our 80s to buy traits for our alts. People with an over-abundance of skill points have obviously learned the game, and it gives people who have tons of skill points and nothing to spend it on something else to do with them.
I have no desire to make a legendary for my ranger, she already has weapon skins I think fit her character perfectly, and they’re of ascended stats, so I’d rather use those skill points to benefit my alt if I could by buying up all the traits she needs. I know that eventually the alt may have extra skill points too, but that won’t be until awhile after she’s level 80 when I’ve done more map completion, and I’d rather have the traits before then.

[Suggestion] All characters to pass Exp to alts

Horrible idea. Honestly if you think leveling in this game is hard or grindy, then you’ve never played another MMO in your life. This game probably has the easiest leveling system of any MMO on the market, and yes that includes after the feature patch. If you want multiple characters, then be willing to invest time into them actually playing them. Quit being lazy.
Only way I’d get behind this idea if it deleted the character you’re transferring from.

I have been playing MMOs since the late 90’s….so I have played plenty of MMOs….(Starwars Galaxies, Jedi grind…perma death.#2003..nuff said) Thing is I’m old, cranky and too busy in real life and only have time for grinding up one character in this game. So it would be nice to switch up which class I play in 80 zones and not have to do the grind to get there. I mean the whole hard grind thing is being taken out of games since the old days and replaced with instant gratification, lets just go all out and remove the grind altogether. Can’t beat em, join em xD

Honestly, if you’re too busy to play a game, then you’re just too busy. That’s just life. It’s not the game developer’s job to make it so you don’t have to play the game to get the game’s rewards just because you’re too busy to play.
Sometimes I’m too busy too. Sometimes I fail to do my dailies because I’m too busy doing something else that day. Does that mean I should get the laurel and chest for free? No, I don’t think so.

It’s one thing to make it so that leveling isn’t super grindy, it’s another entirely to just get rid of it completely and let people get 80 characters for free without playing them.

Lets talk about the new Gem conversion [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I would be happy if they just added smaller increments, by about, say, 50, starting at 100 or 200, or even 250.
Example,
200
250
300
350
400
450…
etc.

All I want is to be able to convert gold to buy hair kits when new hair styles get released, and makeover kits when new faces come out, and stuff like that. I don’t want to have to either farm for 70+ gold for 400 gems or buy 800 gems when I only need 250.

Feedback/Questions: Town clothes, Costumes, & Combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dubbleyew.1029

Dubbleyew.1029

I was assuming that the town clothes were going to remain mostly the same, and maybe when switching to the town clothes, your wardrobe changes from armor skins to town clothes skins and you could apply town clothes skins freely…I was excited.
But we got this instead.

Nope nope nope.

PLEASE reconsider this.

Also, I don’t care what anyone says, being able to use town clothes in combat is a not necessary. In fact I think it’s kind of dumb. You don’t wear fuzzy hats and poofy dresses into battle. It’s stupid and immersion breaking. We didn’t need this. There was NOTHING wrong with the town clothes system the way it was.

Masculine effects for a male Mesmer?

Kind of silly that you want a class’ entire aesthetic style to be changed just because your husband doesn’t want to be “girly.” Plus, it’d take a lot of work to make the effects differ by gender, and it doesn’t seem like it’d be worth it.

I have 2 solutions you could consider instead:
1. Tell your husband to get over his fear of anything feminine. Femininity isn’t a bad thing. Feminine males are also something that exists, and it’d be unfair to them to change it just for you.
2. Tell him to play a different class. Literally any other class.

There you go, problem solved.

More NPC's having heterosexual relationships.

in Living World

Dubbleyew.1029

Some of you people are really letting your bias shine through.

Heterosexual males have had not only representation, but near complete dominance of the gaming industry for years now, and still do. Then when LGBT people and women get good representation in this game, which is pretty rare as is, you all want to overshadow it and complain about it, claiming you just want “equality.” No, if you wanted equality you’d want more women in positions of authority and more LGBT characters, not less, since representation of such in positive ways are rare in video games. Especially ones where the relationship is actually happy and not abusive in some way or ends in tragedy.

And if a game simply having LGBT people existing is “pushing the gay agenda” then I could easily turn around and say that any game that only has straight characters is pushing an anti-gay agenda.

If you don’t like LGBT characters existing in the spotlight, then you’re playing the wrong game. If you don’t like having a lot of female characters that outrank your own character, then you are playing the wrong game. If you can’t relate to a character unless they’re of the same gender and sexuality as you, then you’re playing the wrong game. If you want straight male representation then all you have to do is play literally any other game. Problem solved.

We ALL know that if there were all heterosexuals, and female characters took a backseat to males and it were mostly male characters in positions of authority and spotlight, these threads would not be made. That itself speaks volumes about your attitudes.

Another lesbian relationship?

Dubbleyew.1029

I would really enjoy it if GW2 featured a marriage and romance system between characters and NPCs or characters and characters (like in some other single player games and MMORPG games we can easily google, where characters can get married.)

I would enjoy some straight romance and possibility to roleplay, and maybe have dignity/ferocity/charm actually do something and affect how npcs treat you from a romantic standpoint.

That being said, I still did not complete the personal storyline yet, but I’m close, just past the charr tanks, and I find the plotline so far to be somewhat feminist oriented, with Destiny’s Edge being lead by a woman and the number of females in the group being more than the males. There was another lesbian sylvari couple in the plot, among the scouting group. One of the girls died, and the other was lamenting the loss. Which makes me wonder if all sylvari are conceived to be homosexual? And mostly the exposition of sexuality if focused on female characters, where as the male characters seem to be mostly written as either roudy and happy-go-lucky types or the Trehearne/Tybalt/Logan types – responsible for everything and tormented by doubts. The three of them are essentially the same character, and none of them act like problem-solvers.

Not to mention the human city is ruled by a Queen – another female of authority. And the sylvari avatar of the Tree is a female entity.

Just a personal opinion, but I think the male side of the house could use some empowered characters soon.

Correct me if I’m wrong though.

Are you kidding me? Literally every other game ever is full of male-dominant power fantasies. It still isn’t enough for you, though? Like when there’s finally a game that has many female characters (but also still many male ones) in positions of power and authority, then uh oh, can’t be letting the world not completely revolve around men for once.

I know this word sets off a lot of alarms in people’s heads, but sheesh, talk about not recognizing your privilege. If “too much feminism” means “men and women are more or less equals in this game” then I’m a proud feminist. Bring on more feminism, anet.

Speaking of, why does the idea of women “bossing you around” upset you so, but men bossing you around doesn’t? Women shouldn’t be allowed to outrank you? You always have to be dominant over them? Please.

If you want “male empowerment,” all you have to do is go and play literally any other game.

As for Marjory/Kasmeer, well, let’s just say that most of these discussions wouldn’t even be happening if it weren’t between two women. Just because they’re both attractive women doesn’t mean they’re “fan-service” or “forced,” sheesh. Couples occur in real life, I dunno why some people are so afraid of seeing romance in their games. Particularly healthy, non-abusive romances. Just because caithe and faolain are troubled and emo doesn’t make it better or more realistic writing.
