I don’t know how Anet & NCsofts arrangement works, but they’ve added in some permanent items to the gem store since I was last playing. I’m not sure either of us could say what kind of profit they would be losing without the data on repeat cosmetic gear purchases. Personally I will not purchase anything cosmetic that is not a permanent addition to my account. This suggestion came from me constantly looking over all the fun stuff that I’d love to have for my characters, but I never end up buying because they’re either temporary (one-use) or they’re town only and won’t be visible on my character most of the time. I want to buy these things, but not like they’ve been implemented this far.
Yes, both gem store and gear that transmutation stones are added to a wardrobe library. A wardrobe interface would have to be designed to allow people to scroll through all the various items they’ve collected, an ability to make custom sets that you can call up and assign those to combat and town clothes. For those who already purchased the skin, I guess that would depend on the purchase data the GW2 team has available to run through and activate those items. Perhaps the dye system could be wedged in to enhance specific custom sets and a new gem store item added to unlock additional slots.
The transmutation stones are what I was referring to. Instead of binding the look of an item with the stats of another it would add the item to the wardrobe.
Popping my two cents in on what I’d like to see added/changed to the game. I absolutely love costumes and such for my characters and got excited when I saw some of the cash shop skins/gear. That excitement ended however when I saw that some items were for town RP clothes and some were one time use skins. When gear flux is constant there’s no point in me spending money only to have an item replaced again and the whole town vs usable combat gear separation feels odd to me.
My suggestion thus is a complete change to the wardrobe system. The Mystic Wardrobe would be an account (preferably) wide wardrobe system that your gem store item purchases would go into. All gem store purchases would be permanent skins that would become active in your wardrobe upon purchase. You would then be able to change the displayed visual wardrobe for both your combat & town gear at will. Transmog cash shop items could be changed to permanently add world-found gear to your wardrobe (armor restrictions still applying to be made in use by characters).
I think this would add much more value to the visual cash shop items and users would be much more willing to pick them up to add them to their wardrobe. It also gets rid of the weird divide between the town clothes and combat skins.
I’m utterly shocked by the response from Dalmarus.
Now I have to be careful what I buy on the trading post, because if Idiot A lists Item B for less then it sells for, heaven forbid I make any money.. ban incoming.
There should never be a ban for me buying something from the trading post. Ever. Period. If I find a great deal, that’s the entire freaking point of the trading post.
I didn’t take him as saying you’ll be banned for doing any of that. He told the OP to send in a ticket with exact details if he’s not positive if it’s an exploit, because he doesn’t want to just give the ok without knowing exactly what the OP is doing.
If you’re buying something from other users and can vendor that or a byproduct for a profit then why would it be an exploit? I can only see it being an exploit if an npc sold the item and you could immediately turn around and sell it for more directly to an npc vendor.
The trading post text is squished when accessed with the ui set to small instead of being adjusted to a smaller text size.
