For what its worth, I’m not much happier with the tournament than you are, but it has nothing to do anything you’re crying about. If the point system were actually based on the average number of people on the map during a given tick, you’d have a decent system. Sorry, people aren’t going to log off and potentially risk surrendering keeps just to manipulate the system.
As it stands, its continues to just be a numbers game; fix that, not some microcosm of it.
“Organizing a 2v1 seems like a time consuming, pathetic practice. We have far more confidence in our players than the guild leaders that decided their members are roughly 1/2 a BG player.”
“Holy smokes a server giving itself nicknames is all it took to rustle your jimmies enough…”
“ …to break code of conduct and win trade to first in the tournament?”
“BG focused JQ. I played on EB all week and SoS attacked us far far more, we were unable to defend against a couple of their attacks because we were busy pressuring JQ.”
You’re trying to apply your own interpretation of the Rules of Conduct: “Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder.” I can’t say I’m surprised. Somehow, you think there’s a disconnect between Blackgate having more coverage and winning. Somehow, you think there’s a disconnect between making a “other player’s are 1/2 a Blackgate player” comment and the same #Beastgate or #Believegate crap. Somehow you think “Well, Blackgate just focused JQ because it was in their best interests! JQ and TC are doing it because they’re kitten!”
In short, like the change.
Many of the people I talk to, including myself, see the current AP system as an oxymoron. There’s nothing “achieved” just by doing something that’s been time-gated. I’ve played golf for almost everyday in the past few months. Tiger Woods hasn’t(injuries). Nobody outside my family knows my name better than his, and nobody should.
Its one thing for time to be a requirement, or even the most important requirement for an achievement (point). It can even be the only requirement(see weapon masters). The only achievement you earn when you do dailies is that of not having other obligations in real life. This isn’t a shot at anybody, I just want to highlight a point.
If two players invest the same or similar amounts of time in a game, why should one be granted more AP just bc he was able to play more consistently? It was their decision to tie dailies into achievement points(good luck seeing that in other MMO’s to come), just like they could have said, “We need more players between hours X and X. Bonus achievement points to these players.”
I’m not saying I do or don’t want this. Some of theses questions may seem obvious(I fairly confident on the answers), but bear with me:
1. Will my ele be able to use my warrior’s ascended armor after it hits 80?
2. Will my guardian be able to use my warrior’s ascended armor as soon as it hits 80, or will I need to relevel armorsmithing?
3. Same applies to weapons and weaponsmithing^(obviously my ele isn’t using a greatsword anytime soon :P).
I guess as a postnote/final question, am I right in assuming there’s now only several ‘groups’ of ascended items to go for:
1. Berserker weapons
2. Berserker armor(3 sets) and accessories
3. Condition weapons
4. Condition armor and accessories
5. WvW weapons
6. WvW armor(3 sets) and accessories
Any answers are much appreciated.
Like many, I really enjoyed the event, particularly the environment and the chaotic atmosphere it created. That said, very little about this makes any sense.
1. The primary objective of saving citizens is not rewarded well incrementally, as in the gaps between Group Effort Bags are too far between and/or the rewards just aren’t there.
2. Expecting a higher level of coordination to achieve 1500 is understandable, but the overflow fiasco ensures that such a level is typically unattainable. Think FOTM, but every now and then we’re going to force kick someone from your group.
All this does is create a situation where those who play selfishly(ie solely for champs and loot bags) are rewarded. I mean…you don’t even get anything for rezzing or escorting civilians. Really not a hard fix from a design standpoint, but wait, it gets better.
Those same people can spend bag rewards on sprockets, crafting materials, levels, ranks…I really don’t care to continue…
Great event, but at the same time, what a mess.
