You want it to feel special? Then make it yourself. Problem solved.
Why does anyone need some sort of better than I already have reward in order to do content. Why not just enjoy the content for what it is. Fun story to enjoy with friends. And the joy of helping others do it for the first time. If the only reason to do something is for better gear then why play a game at all. That it is like having a second job. The point of this game is to have fun and enjoy the story (stories).
Are you 1—% alturistic like that in RL as well. If not then any reason to describe why not can be very well applied to a game. Simple as.
I understand that some people really really hated it, so I kept quiet and accepted that a little further out was going to happen.

Make up your mind already!
There are already tools out there which help you modify your camera view so this discussion is moot.
Anet need to realize that some people will stop at nothing to eat their french fries with mayonese, no matter how much they dislike it.

Gear of the same level and rarity mostly have the same sum of stats to go around, but how they’re spread out can and does differ. And even though stats aren’t the end all and be all like they are in other MMO’s, an inspect function that shows stats will still be used to alienate other players because they’re gear isn’t the highest possible, the stat allocation isn’t min/max ideal, and just generally be used to prevent “undergeared” players from running dungeons.
Quity frankly… if someone wants to allianate you then the worst thing you could possibly to at this point is forced co-existance. You dont want to force yourself to hang out with people you dont like or cant stand IRL right? Why should it be forced in MMOs?
People have the right to segregate each other apart however they see fit. You can question the reasons but you cant question that act.
It’s bad enough that some people are requiring certain classes/builds to run dungeons (along with linking X number of tokens), giving such players the ability to further act as elitists will very likely turn ugly. People will be turned down for dungeons — both story and explorable modes — just because they have a piece or two of green or blue gear, something isn’t max level, or they have a piece of gear with +magic find, among other things.
Let people sort themselves out. Who are you to decide whether this is right or wrong. If you dont like current group demands then simply make… your… own. Problem solved.
Besides, skill tends to be the deciding factor, not gear (within reason, of course). Gear isn’t indicative of skill so good players who don’t have perfect gear may very well be kicked out of dungeons, be blamed for someone else not carrying their weight, and have a hard time just finding a dungeon group in general.
Those kind of players will band with their own kind. Problem solved.
An inspect button that doesn’t show stats is fine, but once you create a tool that lets players take an intrusive look at others and discriminate at will with the knowledge that gives them, it will be abused.
There’s no carved in the stone definition on what inspect “proper” use is. At best Anet can give a guide line on what they expect players to do with a new piece of UI but that ultimately falls to their disgression.
If people want to segregate each other, let them segregate then.
Guild Wars 2 is DIFFERENT!
That doesnt matter one kitten if it doesnt meets your costomer’s criteria.

Dzonatan, you’re asking for complete stupidity. Defeats the point of a legendary weapon if it has more stats – that means that everyone aims to get one – legendary weapons become commonplace. Leave it as an optional visual extra – that’s the entire kittening point.
One does not simply get a legendary.
So basically, you look at a game and automatically buy it without looking into it? You could hardly say that’s ANet’s fault, right?
It is when they spread misinformation by calling out such quotes as " has something for everyone.
If there’s no trial and the person can’t be bothered to look into the game? How would you get an idea for end-game with a trial anyway?
Because that person want to TRY the game, NOT STUDY it.
(edited by Dzonatan.5327)
If you don’t like it, you can create a new character and progress from level 1 to 80.
That’s not progress. How it does progress from an existing 80 I already have? How is this new char superior or expanded compare to my previous 80? It isnt. Different and More are two different things.
Or If you don’t like that, then play whatever MMORPG that has it. Only a few have this kind of progression but, There are tons of decent MMORPG that has a progression that you want.
Kneejerk reaction. How to know that before you buy this game without the ability to refund? and dont go off with reviews and reasearching about the game, games are to play, not to study. I still dont like the idea that Anet doesn’t have a proper trial system.
Grind for skins because it looks good.
Ok I got one skin I like in a relatively short time. What to do now? Nothing.
Grind for different kind of equipment to have a larger variety of stats in the equipments.
Cookie Cutter stat priority. What to do now? Nothing.
Grind to make a different kind of build.
Cookie Cutter builds. What to do now? Nothing.
OP’s suggestion is terrible and should never be considered.
Your posts are terrible and should never be posted.
Grind for nicer looking skin.
Grind to make your armory bigger. (Cleric armor, Knight armor, Berserker jewels etc.)
Grind to make different builds(Cleric armor with Soldier runes, Knight armor with Dolyak runes, etc.)
If you want progression, this game will be a bigger progression than WoW because you can make your arsenal bigger and use different builds.
That’s not progress. Progress means that you progressed from one point to the second and you improved along the way. Cosmetic change is not an improvement.
People have to realize this is Guild Wars 2 Not World of Warcraft, or Rift, or any other mmo. Half the suggestions I see here are trying to make this game a clone of WoW.
Listen, I know your probably sacrificing time from Mists of Pandaria right now, but realize before you even bought this game, if you did any kind of research whatsoever, if you read or watched any of the blog videos, you would come to realize that this game is TRYING to be completely different, and that there are no tier based items.
If round tires work why forcefully make square ones? Also if you have to research a game before you know you might enjoy it rather then the provider actually giving you a demo then perhaps something is wrong here.
You should not be surprised. As someone else mentioned, in GW1 people spend eons grinding for vanity items.
What worked in the past might not work in the present. From what we see today. It doesnt really work right now.
I played WoW for 7 years and half the time I was raiding for VANITY, not for stats. Sure it was nice to have an item that “put be above” other people, but this is not how GW2 works. Legendaries are fine imo. They are legendary BECAUSE they take a long time to build. THATS how it should be!!
And? So you look different then the others? what other merit does your flashy sword bring to the group? Perhaps you didnt noticed back then but current tier raid gear was what really held you in your position back then. It’s simple to prove… Did you put on sub optimal gear outside of raids? Were you treated the same when you didnt wear your top notch gear? You most likely never taken it off so I cant ultimately prove the anwsers to the above questions was “yes” but you also cant ultimately prove that the anwser to them was “no”.
Bottom line: That’s not how it should be, otherwise our would would be filled with empty vanity human beings.
I am willing to bet that if this post wasn’t made to claim legendaries need a stat boost then it would have been created complaining about the stat boosts!
and you would be wrong because the stat boost compared to the costs to get it is reasonable enough.
How would you feel if you DID NOT have the 2+ months of solid gaming time, and you witnessed kids running around with weapons that not only look way cooler than your own, but make your weapons far in superior based on stats.
Same way I feel everyday when I see people who have more then me in real life. Perhaps it is you who has some sort of insecurity issues.
How about I put it this way. I need people to run a dungeon with me. I can only have 4 other people mind you. Would I choose you, or someone with a legendary with higher stats than normal exotics? The answer is obvious.
Chances are someone with a legendary wouldnt be at your beck and call whenever you so desire.
Please do not give legendaries stat boosts.
Please do give legendaries stat boosts.
Something like this should not require outside help to complete. As for the view, I honestly don’t really care. I don’t play this game to get a good view, if I want a good view, I’ll go to NYNY again and chill at the top of the Empire State Building. All I do at these vistas is hit F then immediately Esc 90% of the time. anet should really move that vista or just auto-complete it for everyone and if anyone really cares about fake views in a video game, they can do the hardest jumping puzzle and eventually get it.
Sorry chap but game designers decided that if you want to get 100% completion then you have to solve this puzzle. It is neccesary to attach tangible rewards to certain activities in the game otherwise people like you wouldn’t do them at all.
If you find the reward not good enough for the task you have to go through then simply dont do that activity. However if you still insist on holding up such attitude I would suggest you to change it because nobody is going to reward you for something you dont want to do. That’s not how this game work.
If there is grinding to be done, then there are bots to carry you through it. The only way to put a stop to bots is to put a stop to grinding.
They cant do that because dude gamers, 12 year olds and jocks would be forced to read with comprehension and their reaction would be rage quit instead.
It really boggles my mind why it isnt like that to begin with. It worked fine in GW1 so why not re-implement in GW2? I’m fairly sure players wont get “overwhelmed” by a slightly changed tooltip in a different game mode.
Only thing I saw useful there are exotic weapon merchants
The game needs a fov slider, it takes 10 minutes to make one.

Im afraid they cant allow that to happen because those with dinosaur rigs would be at a disadvantage. Gaming in this time is dominated by marketing and marketing dictates no child left behind or unsatisfied.
Agree
It boggles my mind why players are not allowed to change them at all.
What artistic vision?
What game mechanics?
What “we want players to play this way”?
Even primitive MMOs like FlyFF have such function.
I play a ranger and I like use Short Bow/Longbow. I get into a situation where an enemy is closing on me. I currently have Short Bow Equipped so I use Quick Shot (3), the enemy is still closing in so I switch to Longbow and use Point Blank Shot (4).
Now please tell me why I shouldn’t be able to re-arrange my skills in such a way that I have both of them underneath 4 and then rebind them both underneath [F] or let’s say [X]? Who would suffer from this? Nobody. Customizable UI is a standard today. It’s about making UI convienient and easier to use, that’s not gaining unfair advantage, that’s quality of life improvement.

Hello!
Thanks Arenanet for this awesome game. Currently I’m having a time of my gaming life rolling my Rangers through Queensdale. I had taken liking in my Short and Long Bow and I found them to be the most fitting to my playstyle.
However I have one small issue that I would like you to address or at the very least take into consideration during your meeting discussion on how you could improve your game.
I would very much like an option to re-arrange my weapon skills to my liking in a similiar manner I can with my Utility Skills.
The example would be my Lbow+Sbow combination.
I find it increasingly irritating that these weapons have similiar skills but different order from 1~5. Example of this would be their respective AoE skills which are on 2 when it comes to Short Bow but 5 when it comes to Long Bow. Another example are gap making skills which are 5 on Long Bow but 2 on Short Bow.
My personal prefference would be to re-arrange those skills in such a way that when I switch between my weapons sets I would like to have similiar purpose skills under the same buttons.
Thank you very much for reading this post. Hopefully you will consider this possibility to as a implementation into the game.
