On paper, nothing would change if we still have DCers and AFKers. However, if the proposed system is implemented it would perhaps encourage players to try harder.

So for example if the score is 500-480:

Winning team +17
Losing team -5 (instead of -17)

Glicko would actually give +5 for the winning team (simplified example). So the winning team would also be encouraged to win by as much as possible.

So if you need Glicko that much. Lets say we have something like /- 5 mmr points win/loose.
Than easily making it rising from +/- 1 (up to 100 game pts on loosers) moving to +\- 10 ( on 350 game pts on loosers) than to +\-1 pt (on 450
Game pts)
So win 500-48 would give 6 pts, as well as at close win, and nobody wants to be in middle, where is some movement needed if you want equal matches.
You might ask what is the reward on such a thing? Exactly the reward tracks or wins on rank rewards which would be pushing you by making that difference supporting the ranked druring season and will to win by big difference (making bonus points towards that chest for example), not let the people exploiting by letting them gain a few points(100) so that we get more mmr points(as such an exploit could be done by the higher ranking people). Because there is a risk if they let them win points till 350.

Ps.: Thx for ignoring my question on forum. But all this answers it you don’t know how to, so perhaps this suggestion would make some sense.

Are placement matches going through ranked queues? If so, seriously pull that kitten out into its own queue.

Well that would explain how when you get higher on the ranking get worst and worst players… as somebody say RNGod ist by their side getting their ranking high…

I will never get tired of repeating this: this game needs players vs bots mode. Surely bots are easy to win against but it is great way to learn very basics of pvp. LoL has bots mode, OW has bots mode – those are first games i spammed to learn the game and classes and i think this is what gw2 needs.

That sounds like fun.

Matchmaking not working

Dear sPvP GW2 team,
I would like to ask how does your matchup works? the question is not to send me somewhere to look at your programing etc. I would Like to read here How is it possible to in one day get up about 100 points 10 continuous wins in silver which is almost impossible but I run a lot etc., and than when I got up from silver with 1 stripe to silver with 3 stripes I get even worst people at matchup than I got at silver with 1 stripe… So HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? Up the ladder should be people who play better, that is logical isn’kitten
Whats worst even the second team who are against me are worst than at previous ranking, so I can fight 2 people and get good out of it… just if the others knew that they should do something at other points…
2. question is is there a block on getting higher at ranking? it looks like there is to me… because that happends at end of my win streaks often… last season I dropped from gold like this in continuous looses getting people who didn’t know what to do, almost got to bronze, than 10 wins and got to middle silver…
Just Explain to me how to get higher as the better players should be… seriously if you get a guy who says he is first time at pvp and is in silver than there is something wrong with the system.
Thank you for Answering and Perhaps resolving the problem so that ranking is responsive to peoples skills rather than to their luck.

Ps: at picture is a view of such game… I luckily won this one… 500 to 492, though look at damage done 19% of the whole game 37% of team… so basicly I was there for like 2 people… how? I know people play defensive builds but if they dye in seconds I doubt they have defensive builds.

Hey, I get that you’re upset. Things don’t always go our way, but let’s take a breath and go over the issues.

You were never in a match with anyone rank 10, at least not recently. The lowest rank you’ve been paired with is rank 33. That rank 33 also has a pretty decent record, with an MMR that is above average.

The new dailies can make it hard to prevent multiple of the same profession. The new system was never designed to outright forbid it, only to work against it happening.

Just because your queue time is <2 minutes doesn’t mean everyone else’s is. A lot of pre-mades have to wait closer to 6-8 minutes for a match, sometimes longer. I’ve had a lot of top tier players come to me about the issue as well. They don’t like easy victories. :/

As for why teams can do so poorly, sometimes the styles and attitudes of players don’t always mesh. Sometimes you’re going against people who are well suited to counter your style. Sometimes you just get out played.

It sucks, but it happens. I get that it isn’t fun, and I’m working on improving things even more.

If you run into a particularly bad match, PM me the date, time, and which arena it was in and I’ll take a look.

Than why did you lock us in loby…. All the time wait few minutes… I did 50% of map on 7 characters waiting on q…. and I never ignored a game…. Whats the purpos of it because its not like you could do anything when the lovely window pops up for 20s than someone doesn’t accept and all over again.. and if accepts the next window pops up for 10s till it finaly chooses the map… than another 1 minute in map (wtf we already all had to accept the game)…. seriously I would say that PvP got absolutely boring… and I love pvp in gw2… just the waiting for matchmaking than waiting for game…. all in all 15 minutes of waiting for 15 minutes of play…. Lovely…

Justin What is the problem with returning back soloQ?
This “system” doesnt work at all… And it wont untill you will do this separatly… So anoyed by it… It goes from worst to dissaster… Please return soloQ… sPvP is unplayable right now… you are either very lucky if you go in alone… or you are placed against guys who knows whats team work against guys who are running 1 by 1 v 4… seriously how is that improved… they should be way lower rank and way lower in ladder so no way they should play with ppl like thet… seriously….

New queue does not kick people who are afk

20sec is fast? than after all people accepting the match-up having to wait 1 minute inside? Why is there a ready button if you have to wait another minute…. You go to toilet/for water, or whatever and you are afk at beginning. What problem did that solve…

well if something like that would to be added I would say if he gets away for more than 2000 feet or in whatever it is measured there it would get auto destroyed…
as it is with mesmer… when he gets too far clones dies…. why is engi this way? if it would be from gw1 ritualist which could be measured kitten it was when you gotten too far from spirits they died…. so why does the turrets work thru whole map… its funny well… but I wouldnt say engi is op…

Why locking us in Lobby?

Hello,
1. I would like to ask why are we locked in lobby? I did much of map completition during the wait for spvp matchup, and whyle I would wait in sPvP map till the match starts….
Now all I can do is wait at Lobby doing nothing… What activity are you suggesting there while waiting for matchup? Lets say I have my build finished, dont need to test it and I have got what I want from TP, sorted things at bank…. Whitch for most players I would say is truth…
To be honest there is a bigger possibility of people going afk because they dont have anything to do there… so yeh lets look on web for something or whatever…. creating afk players who dont accept the matchup forcing it to reset thus prolonging the wait time which you wanted to shorten….
Maybe I am the only one who feels that way but it realy got boring to go do sPvP and I love it tbh…
2. Why putting out soloq? I know there is much on forums about it but what was the reason? all it created is that people who goes in solo goes against parties etc… I thought if I go solo it will automatically pair me with solo players too and that was the change you made…. not like this… its annoying to play with randoms (wolf ranks) against premade team (dragon ranks)….. how does it consider ranks?
I just hope you will get soloq back….. I think people would rather wait for balanced matchup than to jump right in against premade team with randoms at your side…
3. would it be possible to make the window saying I should go to map or accept the spvp to be movable… It anoyes me as hell when it pops up in the middle of battle in the middle of the screen, not being able to see what is happening…

Hello Justin,
Would it be possible for for example for ranks 96%-0% to implement another rule to count a team lvl. What I mean I help a lot around sPvP at guild but they are Rabbid/Deer level and it gives us Sharks – Dragons in team match-up. So if it would be possible to add a rule that counts ranks and than matches up players also according to Leadboards of course. Result would be that players with higher levels would be counted as more experienced and it wouldn’t be such a pain for newer players to do sPvP because the match-up would be more reasonable, thus less rage quitting spvp because it isn’t balanced.
Also till 97% because it would allow the lower sPvP level players to get to better rankings… Since as you have wrote that top3-97% is not such a huge gap.. Its more likely than for experienced players to get high as it should be not like 13/0 games and on top 5.. Its a bit funny to me… Not only is it based on skill but on luck as well…
I think it would work a bit more properly like that…. And the lead-boards would be based on skill not luck…
Must not be exactly so but I think you get the Idea… could it be possible?
