Why do so many of you run up to groups of mobs and use your skill 5 when you don’t need to? The greatsword is a long ranged weapon for you guys with plenty of other skills capable of tagging multiple enemies.
And yes, I know it’s not just mesmers, I’ve had this problem of using knockback skills needlessly with guardians and longbow rangers as well, warriors used to do it a lot but I haven’t personally seen anyone running stomp lately. In all, from my own personal experience, mesmers seem to do it the most, and I legitimately want to know your reasons why.
Sincerely, a guy who is tired of having multiple enemies unnecessarily pushed out of his AOEs.
I just finished reading Ghosts of Ascalon(Late, I know), and I was wondering, the Norn surnames *sson and *sdottir mean son and daughter right?
So, that means the two Norn cousins’ names are basically Gullik Odd’s Son and Gyda Odd’s Daughter?
If they’re cousins, why do they have the same father?
I tried to look around to see if anyone has asked this before, but couldn’t find anything. (Have they fixed the forum search function yet?)
the mentor character never really feels like she/he is killed by Zhaitain, rather she/he feels like she/he committed suicide just for the heck of it. I don’t feel angry at Zhaitain for Sieran’s death, I instead feel angry at the writers for making Sieran decide to commit pointless suicide when she could have very easily just come with the rest of us as we fled claw island cause let’s face it, the only thing that was really holding back the undead was that incredibly stout door. Sieran wouldn’t have even been able to provide 5 seconds of distraction given the large number of undead all trying to pile through that door to get to the rest of us.
Yeah, you have a point there. The mentor death thing could have been done a lot better.
They could have made it to the boat with you only to be swarmed by risen that you had to fight off, then there could have been a dramatic and heartfelt cutscene where they died in front of you from injuries as you sailed away from the island.
Looking at it from that point, I feel kinda cheated on the mentor’s death.
it’d be rather silly to have a lesser developed character that you’re not really interested in to die and serve as a major motive for your character to want to kill Zhaitan.
Oh you mean like every character in Act 3/4 who gets introduced and then killed at the end of the same quest or the quest right after?
I don’t really consider most of them to characters that serve as a MAJOR motive for you wanting to kill Zhaitan, just standard causalities of war that is supposed to show that The Pact are putting their lives at risk to fight Zhaitan.
Well, if I’m remembering correctly, on my Charr Engie, I was level 56 from mostly just running around doing hearts, events, and all that, with the addition of doing a few PS missions(up to the level 8 PS story “Test Your Metal”) and I mostly breezed through the rest of the Personal Story picking up POIs and Waypoints on the way as well.
I did get a little stuck after the level 70 PS mission “The Battle For Fort Trinity” because I was only level 69 and I had to do both hearts and the missions to keep even with the mission levels.
Can normal necromancers summon six at once? I can see up to five at all times, six if we’re counting the jagged horrors (requires a specific trait though.)
Bone Minions summon in pairs, so technically you could gave six at a time. Or seven with the Jagged Horror trait.
Not just any 6 minions. He summons five Flesh Golems and a Shadow Fiend (They’re all named “Elite Minion” in this case however). And on top of this, he never does it again, not even during the boss fight in that very same mission.
Though this point still stands that Trehearne’s power fluctuates far too much throughout the Personal Story. Honestly, I think that, before an NPC is introduced, their abilities and capabilities should be written out, set in stone, and used at least semi-consistently to avoid making things too easy but to keep a tangible sense of character. at least then the writing would be more bearable.
If he had thought to do this back at the first battle of Claw Island, our mentor would have no viable reason to have to sacrifice themselves.
I would love to know how the PC’s mentor would live their life if they had survived, I think they had far more potential as long term characters than as feelings fodder, though I guess that’s what made them feelings fodder in the first place, it’d be rather silly to have a lesser developed character that you’re not really interested in to die and serve as a major motive for your character to want to kill Zhaitan.
Oh, and I did understand what you meant, you like that the female Charr armors aren’t feminine and instead of a design overhaul, you’re rather they add more armor so the people who want their cat ladies running around in chainmail bikinis with skirts can, while you keep your option of having normal gender neutral armor.
You might want to visit Animal Lover’s Boutique (<- “You Don’t Know Jack” reference) if you’re looking for a bikini for a cat. Personally, that’s something I hope I NEVER see in GW2. I don’t need chainmail bikini’s to make the Charr complete.
Honestly, there are several female Charr that demonstrates being strong female presences in-game, and to add chainmail bikinis for them would be doing the Charr a disservice. One is a female in the crafting area bar in Black Citadel who tells a drunk male to back off and she isn’t interested, eventually having to threaten him with her sword. The other is one of the Ashford Fields SPs, where you fight her and she tells you “There, you learned something. Now go away.” I don’t feel she would be improved by adding chainmail bikinis.
Overall, I don’t see them as a wonderful expansion of the game world. I see them as cheapening and pandering to prepubescent children and adults clinging to being prepubescent children (perverts). The devs have taken the step of creating a unique and interesting gender-equal race. That’s more than enough. Hell, in this atmosphere of objectification of women that pervades the industry as a whole, the fact that a company created females in a game that don’t look like sex objects is not only laudable, but cause of celebration.
I agree that it is refreshing to see a game race where the female side isn’t objectified and all dolled up, but it would be nice to have a large variety of both masculine, gender neutral AND feminine armor for all the armor classes so that people can better choose how they want their Charr to look.
Yes, there are many strong female Charr, both physically and willfully, but even in a military culture like the Charr, where the vast majority of them are powerful, hulking soldiers, there’s bound to be individuals who would want to dress more femininely. I don’t see it as cheapening the Charr as a race so much as giving the option for people to dress diversely and realistically.
The chainmail bikini was only an exaggerated example seeing how it’s a common “Women’s” armor choice in most games, and I admit that it was a bad choice of an example. My bad. I feel as though I’m doing a horrible job of explaining what I mean, so sorry about that.
They are far from 100% with a BL kit. I salvaged a pile of exotics and got one inscription. Didn’t keep track of how many were weapons, but at least 10.
Similar story here. I’ve gotten one so far, out of maybe 15 salvages with a Black Lions kit.
Then they’re counted as rare materials?
BL is 50% for rarer mats and Master’s is 25%

Unless the inscriptions are counted as something else then I guess you guys just had bad luck with the coin flip?
As far as I know, you can’t salvage inscriptions, only runes and sigils.
With the Ascended patch, they made it possible to salvage inscriptions for combinations that you cannot make via crafting.
If that’s true, then would they be counted as upgrades or rare materials? Because if they’re counted as upgrades then Master’s has an 80% chance and BL has a 100% chance.
Thank you for proving my point. Notice what I specifically did not write? “I want to play a boy character. Not a girl character.”
Well…actually, you kinda did.
I want to play a character. Not a “girl character”.
I want to play a hero. Not a “girl hero”.
I want to play a warrior. Not a “girl warrior”.
I want to wear armor. Not “girl armor”.Well, half of it, at least. That could lead to some confusion on what you had meant.

Just saying that your list could confuse people on what your mean due to the way you phrased it.

So, if we ever get the chance to go to Cantha in GW2, how do you think the Sylvari would react to meeting a Juggernaut? I’m actually interested in the potential conversations and interactions that NPCs could have.

So, we can make onion rings, fries and hamburgers, but no hotdogs?
How am I supposed to open up a hotdog stand over near the Balthazar High Road without any hotdogs?
