I just can’t believe they did it again…I know these things are in the works for months…but they’ve known the hatred of Scarlett for way longer…how could they do this to us….AGAIN!?! :‘( Another golden opportunity to give the community something its been begging for, for the better part of a year now….a good lore story. I doubt I’ll ever get my hopes up again.
If I can get enough ‘likes’ on this pic, I’ll scan it in and do a full color rendering.
edit here is my value rendering…just started the background, and of course I must still color it, but, its almost done!

The spirits of the wild call upon him. But he rarely answers.
When he travels, waypoints pay him.
He once had a staring contest with the Eye of Zhaitan, and won.
Asura call him a genius.
He is…the most interesting norn in the world.

I agree with many here that the pace is a bit much. Not only for the players, but for the developers also. It feels like the game becomes a job to get all these meta things done. I don’t mind having the achievements to pursue, but having so little time to do them sucks sometimes. And I feel that the story suffers as a result.
For the whole first year I looked at the things like Halloween, Wintersday, even the Zephers as amazing “ground work” for the years to come. But after seeing the 2nd Halloween event, arguably the MOST anticipated holiday in game, the shining example of a well done event, and almost nothing was added this year. No story really. So now I wonder what will become of the rest of these events when they come back around.
Not having a historian to retell past events has been such a huge deterrent to new players, and also veterans that may have forgotten details, or just want to reread the “story so far”.
Honestly, I feel that even having Zhaitan in the personal story was a mistake given how the company wants to develop the story. Orr should have just been an instance, or dungeon but not a permanent zone that can’t changed ever.
I certainly like the idea in a previous post about contested zones. There is an event in lornar pass where you defend a bridge if you succeed, the bridge is there to use, fail, its gone. Why not something similar to that with towns/outposts?
Also, things like “meatober fest” have been going on for more than a year…maybe change these event, or rotate them with some other events that can exist in the same area.
Scarlett, ah Scarlett. I will not rehash all the things others have said already. She is not well liked by the forum community, and for good reason. Many here would like to move away from the “Saturday morning cartoon” type stories that come with her and her childish mentality.
A big thing I would like to see, is more to do with your chosen order. As it is, there a handful of quests to do where you go from recruit to big-wig ridiculously fast. The living story would be a great way to expand that experience also. It could work as investigative quests exploring the dragons or some other threat, (priory), going undercover to overthrow some bandit organizations or w/e(whispers) or going to retake seized lands/property (vigil). I just think they are a very under utilized resource.
I love this game, to quote someone in the lore forums, “I troll because I care”. Lots here do. We all want this game to be great….for years to come, but please reduce the amount of sugar and cheese (a little is great), and give us something really compelling to drool over!
Changing environments, even/especially the subtle changes are one of the good things to come about from the living world content. Love the little things. Now, how about that Orr place….
Just a quickie character shot. Enjoy. Btw, the colorized norn pic is coming soon!! Thanks for all the up votes!!
The whole Wintersday event has been amazing, just as Halloween was before it. I have heard some argue over the point that Wintersday should have been held in Divinity’s Reach instead of hosted in LA. To me, that’s neither here nor there.
An interesting idea, to me, would be the thought of cultural festivals for each race. There are these big beautiful cities dotted around Tyria, currently, being underused (opinion).
Why not something like:
A Norn festival, maybe similar to Oktoberfest, great venue for the keg brawl. Also contests like the drinking challenge in the Order of Whispers storyline.
A Sylvari “Earth-day” inspired festival. Maybe mud pies instead of snowballs?
Charr could maybe have a “4th of July” style festival celebrating the day they over-threw the shamans. Fireworks!! Maybe mini gladiator fights?
Asura since all they celebrate is themselves and their own genius, maybe a puzzle themed “science day” kinda festival.
Humans have so many to choose from already, with, no doubt many more to come. I just think it would be a fun way to get a better look at some of the lore and cultural aspects of each race. Thanks for reading, see you in game.
It was confirmed by Colin, that the “Fall of Abbadon” would INDEED be pre GW1. That simple fact alone gets my vote.
It looks great! Good balance of colors and great use of space. Which program did you use?
Fyi, Bobby Stein posted a nice lengthy reply in the thread. Great read, restores a little faith.

Finally done with my projects, and no commissions to do at the moment, so, I took advantage of ny mini lull to do a quickie portrait for myself!! So, here is my warrior, just a head shot since it was still done during my lunch break. Should I put him in armor and paint him? Thanks for looking…enjoy!
It’s a great step forward from the last video, which was also very entertaining. Look forward to seeing more.
Well, this is the official forum. There are more than a few threads with people posting for commission work. I haven’t seen a single post from Anet stating they have issue with it. Alternately, you could PM some of those individuals and ask if they have received any notice from Anet complaining about it.
(if only the Forgotten were around to explain it in more detail)
Sounds like a hint about something…
Been a while since I posted anything here, so I figured I was past due. Today, my rendition of Braham Eirson.
I stand corrected. And I’m sorry for my outburst, its just frustrating.
It’s been this way for months. The skins are 1 ticket while that part if the LS is active, then become 5+ tickets after. A little research goes a long way, looking at the other items the vendor has should have been a huge clue, but checking things like the forums and the wiki are also great ideas before any purchase.
The first step to fixing a problem, is to first admit there IS a problem. I give credit for that. I truly hope their solutions come from good planning and not from this week’s episode of pokemon. I still have hope.
1 thing I noticed upon visiting the site. No Chaos Beasts are there through any type of displacement. They either spawn from the chaos shards, or the chaotic material during the event. Not sure how much that impacts your theory.
I know they have a media kit you can download and use. I would start there and with the ToS document they have to check specifics, but there are certainly many sites out there that make use of their imagery. My assumption, would be that as long as you are not claiming it as your original work, and are not endeavoring to profit from it, then they would not find objection to it. To be extra safe, be sure to include a line to the effect of "all images trademark and copyright NCSoft/ArenaNet. It does also advertise their product….
Had some extra down time today, so, I present to you Charrlistair Cooke, celebrity host of Meatoberfest Theatre.
“(We) troll because (we) care”.
Many of here have been entangled in the world of Tyria for many years. We have “grown up” with this game, it’s world, and it’s lore. This place has captured our hearts and imaginations, and held them, for a long time now. This sub-forum, as a result, is full of highly opinionated people. These people all love this world.
That said, I do feel like the storytelling is taking a backseat. It all feels very “rushed out the door”. I do not wish to argue the abilities of the writing staff at Anet, I am sure they are all very talented individuals. But even the most talented person can fall short under insane time constraints. The Personal Story wasn’t THAT bad, at first. You can tell time was spent writing and fleshing out characters and stories, only to watch it all dissolve after “Cloor Island”. No more time spent working within your order, exploring and righting wrongs throughout Tyria, no more meeting new, interesting characters (Mallyk, Tonn, Seiren, Tybalt etc) only “HURRY!! we have to stand around and watch the dragon die!!” From there everyting has felt “rushed” and “kitten”. It doesn’t feel like the lore has been “widened” only washed over and made shallow. We come here and complain among ourselves, because we KNOW Anet can do better, we’ve all SEEN it. We love this game, and its world.
Sadly, our “vocal minority” here has proven to be a bit too toxic for devs to dare come into, and I can’t blame them, I’d be put off and/or frightened too. The saddest part, is that right here, in THIS forum, are the MOST die-hard fans. These are the ones that don’t care so much about bugs, and loot (though still important). These are the people that care about the STORY, the world as a whole. Yes, the story telling has taken a real hit in the past year or so, but I still have faith, and hope that Anet will deliver to us, something compelling, something epic, something worthy of being Guild Wars 2. Personally, I think slowing down the tempo of releases is what they need to do. Take more time and really flesh out the plots, check the lore of old, and hey…maybe interact with some of the lore-masters of the forums in reference, it could only serve to help the game.
“(We) troll because (we) care”….well said Mr Obsidian, well said.
Just a notice for those unaware. http://www.reddit.com/r/GuildwarsLore/ another forum with lore lovers all around. Stop in and check it out. Always nice to see another perspective.

Had to take an early lunch today, probably wasn’t awake enough for such a complex subject, but it was requested…..
I actually feel like its more like a network of CPUs. Alone the processor is not as fast as when networked with others. Maybe its less conceptualizing and more simple problem solving done quickly, like farming bitcoins. I’m just thinking if it encompasses more than that, they’d likely have more elaborate dwellings etc where highly concentrated. So far all I’ve seen are giant junk piles.
Everyone should realize by now, that its the skritt king pulling all the strings in this drama. That’s what Scarlett saw!!The unrivalled brilliance that is his highness! The only creature on Tyria smarter then her.
“Scarlett’s Minions are invading Lion’s Arch” I can see it now.
Hi all! something a bit more polished than usual today. Just finished this for a contest, and wanted to share it.

Here are all my workday doodle postings collected in one thread. I finally got around to scanning them instead of using the phone’s camera. I may just do this from now on.

In loving memory of the most baddass warmaster the vigil ever had, give ’em hell in the mists Forgal!
Hi all, I am an officer in Nova Diem, a primarily PvE based guild on Tarnished Coast. I have been working toward this idea for a few weeks now. I’ve been pitching the idea to every PuG I’ve been in. I have managed to grab a few “alt-guildies” but even with that and pumping cash into the guild promoter, I still don’t feel any closer to being able to set off these guild events. So anyone interested in allying or merging, send me a PM here, or in game.
