Again, if you think another player being able to control their character is overpowered the issue is you. It’s like giving your friend a controller that shorts out every 10-15 seconds then claiming you beat them because of your skill.
Crowd Control is one of the pathetic crutches of MMO PVP, and it has become so prolific that now players think it’s overpowered when another player ISN’T crowd controlled.
Only in an MMO could an ability that simply lets you reliably control your own character be considered overpowered.
This is a miserable change if there isn’t a UI toggle to see all the items.
I don’t think they thought this one through.
Or the lotro costume system which was completely fantastic! And they made money by allowing people to buy more costume slots for them to swap around. It allowed you to have your set of armor, and then around 3 different “outfits” you could change to.
LotRO really was the gold standard of cosmetic systems in gear based MMOs. GW2 has one of the clunkiest systems I’ve seen; SWTOR is the only modern MMO cosmetic system I thought was worse. Even WoW’s transmog system, which they had to backfit onto a nearly decade old game and couldn’t really build it the way they wanted is a better experience than GW2’s.
Arenanet clearly HAS the tech to make a better system. Hopefully they will make use of that tech more in the future.
Yeah, the chance at a chance at a chance thing is ridiculous.
I’ve opened that chest about 20 times, and gotten no event items other than the worthless recipe.
I came back to the game recently, in part because I wanted to check out how Living Story events were these days. Between the Halloween event this year (much worse than last year) and the two toxic events, the game has taught me to stop bothering with Living Story content the instant my meta achievement is done.
Yeah, we had some excellent tactical commanding on IoJ EB tonight, resulting in some fun fights like the Stonemist one.
When was this cinematic supposed to play?
It’s a goofy mechanic. It just encourages server hopping, with no real upside.
“so I can’t see how it would be bugged for anyone.”
Wait, it didn’t bug you YOU, so you can’t see how it would be bugged for anyone?
Specific Complaint: Elite Hallucinatory Grenadier
Wow. This thing is insane. The huge health of an elite, coupled with massive dps, massive area, spammed AOE.
They need to be a lot less spammy with their AOE. I do try to rez people, and I rezzed many going up the tower. For most of the run people really stuck together and tried to keep the whole group up.
It fell apart when we hit a point where the entire floor was carpet bombed with red circles. People were getting mowed down through no real fault of their own, and if you tried to rez them you were just going to get focused with AOE. At that point people really had little choice but to sprint through and hope they were lucky.
So I have to kill the dude, before I can unlock achievements regarding killing the dude? Bravo…
As a player on a server that is, quite frankly, in the wrong league due to transfers, it is pretty much a miserable experience.
I suspected IoJ was in the wrong tier, but I didn’t know how wrong it was until this week. Ouch
Armor is probably a LOT more resource intensive to make than weapons, so if they can get money for it they’ll try.
I’d be more inclined to be buying said store armor if it were an account unlock under the achievement tab. At 10 bucks a set, they could stand to do away with the clunky transformation stone mechanic.
I was pretty surprised coming back after a nine month break to see my warrior (my most powerful character when I quit) had been buffed, but my ranger (completely pointless class at 80) had been nerfed. I guess I know which of those I’ll be playing…
This is a weak offering compared to last year.
How about you get the mask to everyone with the achievement via mail or the achievement Unlocked Rewards, and run some basic testing on events going forward.
At what point to we dismiss poor execution as the excuse, and decide Arenanet is actively hostile to the playerbase?
At least it is now clear what we can expect, and that is nothing.
So, within 3 months they’re going back on their core design principle of no grind/treadmill for stats, AND copying the Radiance feature from LotRO, which even Turbine finally admitted was a huge mistake and not salvageable. Impressive…
It would be nice if they’d normalize chest rewards a little. I don’t need great loot every time, but it’s a little stupid when some people are pulling exotics out of a chest and others are getting greens.
Well, this is a buggy mess. I couldn’t get into the same instance as my group, so eventually I decided to just see if I could solo it. Now, the mad king is sitting invulnerable on his rock, not joining the fight or doing anything.
It’s still not working. If you can’t fix it, give us the option to skip it. How many tries has this been without a real fix?
