Death of daily rooms

in PvP

What people seem to be ignoring is the fact that I never said I wanted PvP rewards. I wanted the POTIONS that are needed for building guild halls. I have helped build 3 guild halls so far. Was hoping to continue helping with a 4th on the potions, but that will be difficult. If Arena.net removed the potions of PvP reward from building the waypoint discount, I would never bother with doing PvP in any way again. I don’t join even unranked games because I refuse to be a drag on the team, and with my physical problems (which are permanent) I would be a drag. It is the same reason I don’t raid. I refuse to play something that depends on the type of physical reactions I do not have. I also don’t participate in pug groups for the same reason.

If that means there are things I cannot get like legendary armor or mini llamas, so be it. However, linking something pretty much pure PvE (The guild hall) to PvP forced me to find a way to get those potions. Frankly, I would much rather be out mapping, or doing metas, or crafting legendaries, or running dungeons or fractals with my guild mates who know about my problems and accept them.

And by the way, some of the very attitude displayed in this thread is the reason I found a daily room where getting salty, or breaking the rules was an automatic kick by the admins.

I admit that I cannot PvP. I have miserable response time due to damage to my hands, so to get the potions of PvP reward I needed to build a guild hall I turned to the daily rooms. I enjoyed them, the people there were nice, I found one with rules that were strictly enforced which made it a pleasant experience.

However, the developers seem to hate them. Every PvP update has made the rooms less useful as they changed daily achievements, the only way to get the potions, to make them harder to get. This newest update has pretty much killed them. I know there are other players like me who hate the toxicity frequently displayed in the regular rooms, or who like me have problems that make it pretty much impossible to be anything other than a weight to my team mates. I’ve met them in the daily rooms. All I can say is I am very glad I managed to get the potions I needed before this change. I will miss chatting in the daily room with other people who don’t get salty, who don’t constantly call someone names because they don’t know what they are doing or are too slow at doing it.

Why do the developers want to make it so hard for people to get dailies in one of the custom arenas? The arenas are already expensive enough to maintain considering the initial cost and upkeep. Why are they penalizing people who just want to get the potions so they can do the building of their guild hall, or just to get a reward track completed for something without trying to deal with all the hassles that come from the standard PvP? Having to get all those potions just to build the waypoint discount, or to build the guild hall arena just so everything is finished and then making it so difficult to get the components in a way that allows you to avoid the people who think that only people with a clue should be in PvP, so instead of educating others they stomp them or yell at them makes a lot of people turn away.

I’m lucky. I got enough potions before the change that it won’t hurt the building of my guild hall. Others new to the game won’t be so lucky.

Has anyone else who finished the story still been unable to get in to talk to Albert the Butler? My guild leader finished the story, then helped me finish it as well, and he can’t get in to talk to Albert to see what is available. When I portaled him in, Albert basically told him he was trespassing and wouldn’t talk to him.

Had anyone had a problem allowing others to get the communication skill to allow them to add the cat? I’ve been summoning the cat, but no one is getting the skill.

Not getting credit for boss kills

So, I am getting event, kill and loot, but not collection? Ugh. That is a major pain which will make it very hard. I mean, once or twice I wouldn’t have too much of a problem with, but 6 in a row? (I’ve done another since.) I am beginning to think I will never get that collection complete.

The last few days I have been attempting to do the first volume of the legendary collection for The Flameseeker Prophecies. I crafted the Anthology of Villainy, and got credit for killing Terror 7 and fluffy. Since then, I have killed 5 more of the bosses and no credit has been registered in the collection for any of them, even though the person I was with who is doing the same collection got credit for all of them. I did get event credit and loot.

In addition, a few weeks ago when I completed the first raid wing, I got no mastery points or kill credit for the 3 bosses. I did get the loot from each boss, just no mastery or achievements.

Not sure why I am not getting these, but it is stopping me from continuing on for the collection and masteries.

Suggestions for the Arena

My guild along with 2 others have been doing GvG, and there are some things I would love to see added to make that a little more flexible.

1) “bricks” or something else stackable so we could build tiered areas into the arena
2) An on screen timer operated by whomever is commander for setting up timed events
3) lower or somewhat transparent/translucent walls to make it easier to see for spectators
4) a capture point for defenders to try to hold
5) or possibly objects like a flag that can be captured and carried to another point for capture the flag type events
6) a way to close the free for all portal (or any of the others) for a short time so people can’t map to rez and jump back in during last man standing style events

Other potential upgrades my guild and I would like to see:
1) Portal upgrade to add the other main cities
2) Market upgrade to add a trading post (when scribing, mapping constantly to buy things at the TP that you ran out of is a major pain)
3) Tavern upgrade to allow you to buy the different types of alcohol available in the game in addition to the guild buffs
4) A guild commendation trader. Why this wasn’t put in the gh, I have no clue, but I would be willing to do another market upgrade to add him.
5) workshop upgrade to build the other crafting stations. I know we were told that they wouldn’t be added, but we really wish they could be.

I know there were other things my guild and I have wished for, though I can’t remember them right now. But these are, I think, the ones we have most frequently wished for.

Who do you talk to for anthem?

We have everything we need to unlock our anthem, but can’t find who you talk to to do so. Am I missing an NPC? Or did the requirements for it show in the treasury before they should have? We are currently waiting on the aetherium to build our workshop.

Mordrem Invasion Update: 11 September 12:30 PM

I have essentially given up on this event. I loved the idea, and really thought it would be sort of a scaled down version of the Silverwastes which encourages players to cooperate. Instead we get a reward system that encourages tag and run, and even then the rewards are paltry compared to the effort you have to put in to get them. It also highly discourages player cooperation.

If you were rewarded blooms based on event completion, say 1 for copper, 3 for silver, 5 for gold, the rewards would be much improved and would be based on actual completion rather than tag and run. I am one of those who actually finishes an event and I can usually get 10 events in the one run. That would increase the reward participation for actually finishing events to 50, and if you add a daily chest bonus based on the number of events completed (say, 1 per event completion), it would make the rewards fit more with the effort put in. It would encourage players to group up and actually run and complete events. It also would make the costs at the vendor more in line with the effort put into it.

Since changes can’t be made at this time, I really hope a fixed version with the same Mordrem Blooms rewards will come about again. Until then, I will be avoiding the maps with these events. It is a waste of my effort as it currently is.

No, they are adding Mastery, which enable you to learn new skills, and also allowing you to choose to add a specialization to your current profession. The example given was for the Ranger. You can teach your ranger a specialization to turn him into a Druid.

Misconceptions regarding Level gating.

I have been playing since the beta. My sister hasn’t been playing long, and focused on one character until we finished the personal story, which happened Monday. Tuesday night we created new characters (I create one with her to keep her company), hers was a ranger. She is pretty much a new player, I am a veteran player. Both of us hate the new leveling system. In addition, she asked questions about how to control her pet, because it kept attacking things she didn’t want it to. When I tried to answer from my ranger experience, she couldn’t find anything like what I was talking about because of the gating.

In addition, we are mapping and we came to a skill point, only to find we can’t do the skill challenge. Which means coming back to the same point much later to get it, wasting time and wp fees just to get a skill point we should have been able to get first time through.

I used to enjoy making new characters and learning their personal stories, seeing the viewpoints of the different races and what happens when you change one of the options in the personal story. I loved running my character around everywhere doing whatever I could in my own order, finding the weapons so I could unlock skills for each one and learn how the skills worked by actually using them to unlock the next one. Everything I enjoyed is gone. Doing a new character is now going to be a chore. I used to buy new slots all the time so I could follow along the personal stories. That won’t happen any more, unless this change is reverted.

Turrets ops crashing during Tequatl event

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I’ve been doing the Tequatl event every night for weeks, but until I started regularly playing as a turret operator I never crashed. Now that I am in a turret, my game crashes at least once per event, sometimes twice. Other people who play as turret operators have also said that they crash as well.

This is a big problem for two reasons. 1) the map is usually hard capped making it difficult to return and 2) we are temporarily out of a turret operator until someone is able to get to it and start. Luckily now that we know, my guild has someone on standby to take over in case of a crash (my guild handles all of one set of turrets), but the crashing has caused people to lose credit for the event.

Are there any suggestions on what we can do to stop the crashing?
