yup, happening for all my characters since the last big patch too
I’ve been stuck there off and on all day. maybe about 20 people on and off. I was the only one on when I started, and going to character select didn’t help, nor did signing off.
It doesn’t help if all the Authentication Servers for North America are DOWN, see http://gw2status.de/
Two evenings I haven’t been able to play. you’d think they’d realize it’s prime time here, not the middle of the night.
(N. American Region) I as well am having the same problem with the character creation. My screen goes black and nothing else happens. The music still plays and everything but no “character creation” happening. I does not give an error code its just a black screen. I’ve left it on for an hour hoping something was just slow loading. At suggestion on another problem, I loaded the game with -repair option, and it seemed to repair (about a half hour) but no joy, it still goes black. I was just playing with my first character a few minutes before. The only way out of it is to alt tab and close the window.
