and wow players are complaining that this isn’t enough content so they will come to GW2 instead… is this really your argument???

WoW players are also annoyed of new content that is not playable for weeks and
come to GW2 for that reason. Just heared that this weekend from a ne player couple.

So a month ago wow had launch problems… which it does every expac. If I remember correctly this game had launch issues with their servers as well.

It’s a great game. Just because the vocal minority screams hate about it doesn’t make its 10 mil subs any less impressive and before you say anything about the subs. They are per active sub not trials and yes multiple accounts per person assuming they’re paying for multiple accounts which I know a few who do

Now does that mean this game sucks? No it doesn’t the vocal minority complain just as much about this game

But I digress if you’re going to complain about something try using up to date info. And if you’re gonna compare make sure it’s apples to apples. Gw2 is an orange not an apple. You wanna compare wow to something. Do it to another sub based game please

Still trying to get into the game. Just started re-installing it right now. My highest character is 43 and I’ve had the game since a couple months after launch.

Largely I have trouble with combat because I find it so boring which I know is weird because I come from WoW which is stand still and wait for cast time. But it’s been a huge hindrance to my enjoyment.

One of the biggest things that irks me about this game though is that I get 4 Character slots and have to pay what 10 bucks for each one after that? Are you kidding me? I understand they need money to keep content flowing and servers up but to pay full price for the game and not even be granted slots for all classes is just absurd to me.

Maybe the game isn’t for me but I’m gonna keep giving it a try until I think I got my money’s worth. I just think it’s sad that it feels like I have to give into a cash shop to get the full value out of it

Yeah I have the same problem as the OP, I’m from very traditional mmo’s and have tried to get into this game but can’t. I don’t even have an 80 character and I got the game as an xmas present the year it came out.

After seeing the replies about relying too much on the hearts I’m going to give it another go. I’m desperately trying to like this game so hopefully changing how I look at leveling will help.

I do have a question though, I’ve done one dungeon in the past and it was just a zerg fest, but now i’m reading that groups want you to be 80 for these low level zerg fests. Is that true or is it just an exaggeration?

1. Personal story is not engaging at all. Is so boring that in fact I haven’t finished it
2. Is very annoying that I was promised a living world that my choices have impact and instead I got events that reset every hour and they no more different than traditional quests

lol tell me about it, i did an event to capture a centaur post. About 10 other people besides myself finish this long 30 min + event chain and not 5 min later the waypoint became contested again with mobs re-spawning all over our “captured” outpost.

Aside from that, my problem are the terrible TP UI, (can barely read the text, for example a captial T looks like I, and i can’t even search by light, medium, heavy) Also the fact that I can just buy upgrade gear from the TP for a couple silver instead of actually having to get it from mobs or quests is very saddening.

That same problem with the TP makes crafting useless, on top of the fact that making 20 items to try to get the one you need is the most kittened system ever (yes i know Diablo 3 is the same way but at least they’re doing something about it)

call me old school but i liked having str on heavy, int on light, agi on med and being a spellsword and wearing heavy armor with some light since it had more int… here if you’re heavy armor you’re magically unable to equip med or light… laaaame

I have plenty more but for here my last disappointment is the gem store, i understand that ANet needs to make money and I would LOVE to throw it at them… the problem is $5 dollars for 1 bag slot? fine fine i understand 5 bag slots default is more than enough if you have large bags… but 10 bucks for character slots?!?! they don’t even give us enough slots to have all classes!!!!! WTF so i have to shell out an extra 30 bucks just to play 100% of the game… awesome…. i hate swtor but at least you get the full game classes and all with the free account (races don’t count to me in that game since they’re just different colors of human… oh and humans with implants[cyborg lawl])

For me, i hate that rng affects crafting. I don’t know how many mats i have to waste before getting something for my class, and yeah i know the AH has everything… that’s another problem in itself that ruins the need for crafting or making money for that matter 1s for a level 40 helm, why bother do anything if i can just buy the gear

I would love to see player housing, but not guild housing, to all those saying yes to guild housing i’ve noticed most of you want a “city” for your guild, with trade post, bank, portals ect…. hell to the no! if you want a guild hall (city) stay in LA and just chill with your guild there

unless you all can come up with a good idea for guild housing (not just take everything from the city and put it in your guild leaving cities empty) then i doubt Anet will ever give it to you.

Most of these stupid awards are just part of the marketing/advertisement game (compare the number of advertisements on game sites by a game company to the amount of awards their games get from that site; there’s a very obvious correlation).

I have noticed some very crappy games getting the various game of the year awards; don’t be naive about it.

Those are awards based on the prospect of the game. Like “most anticipated”, “most innovative” or whatever, stuff like that. They don’t really count since it’s not based on player feedback.

If SWTOR got awards AFTER it got released, then sure you’ve got a point (quantity should also be taken into account).

They did get game of the year and Best MMO of the year…

Definitely agree to this, I don’t understand why they don’t have a preview option. Also the ability to inspect other players would be nice (not for specs, but just to see the armor) I don’t know how many times i’ve run into someone with awesome armor and try to find out the set name while i can’t ask them since they’re AFK

I can’t believe ppl are still arguing about this. They have already said in the past that player homes are CONFIRMED in the future whether you like it or not, we’re getting it.

I know exactly what you’re talking about, to anyone who is confused and hasn’t played WoW or any other MMO of that style… you can have your name show above your own character’s head just like you see with other players. It’s there for those who wish to see the title’s they worked for.

I got used to that feature and wouldn’t mind having it here as well.

You do relize that manny of us actualy enjoy the fact that we are more accountable for our own survivability and we are not completely dependent on some magic healer to stay on our feet.

You’re looking at it the wrong way. It’s not about shirking responsibility to another player… but rather the variety of gameplay that option provides.

The problem with “everyone is accountable” is that “everyone does the same thing” which brings us back to the original problem – no variety in combat and no organized and strategized team play whatsoever.

Thats bull though a play with a group of friends in a guild most of us stick to the same groups. Our builds are ment to work off one anouther to be more effectiven and we each take up a role in combat

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with either side at this point, but I must quote you because I have a lack of friends playing this game, and a few guilds that I can’t play with due to time restraints so when I do have to put together a group (which is a hypothetical situation since I’m not even level for a dungeon) I would imagine that there would be no coordination and everyone will just dps the living hell out of everything… am I wrong?

You don’t get the DE items back, specifically the mini and the consumables, all you get is the banker.

The problem with that though is on my wife’s laptop, the game won’t install with the discs, it just installs the downloader and starts downloading…
