The Ridiculous Mashup of CD/BP/ET/Kaineng

in WvW

The odd thing is, is that our opponents are only attempting to ppt on swc and sec with an occasional nwc nec. I was in CD BL for well over six hours and only twice were there attempts at capturing swt and set. I lost swt defending it alone and took it back alone five minutes later. A couple of skirmishes with the group running around I want to say six or seven of them(players that is) toyed with them for a good 30 min on and off. Finally got some backup defenders and ran them off the map. I was a bit confused at the group play and the actual fights. easily winning 1v3’s 1v2’s. I thought it a fluke and tried dh. I ran solo taking towers myself and camps easily. little to no resistance. Its odd popping down from kitten see servers so quickly demoralized. I hear all this talk of TS. I haven’t seen the links, maybe I’m napping or something. That being said there is little to no coordination when I am playing. The issue seems to be the caliber of players on the servers. Idk what builds are being run but 95% of the players I come across melt like butter. The rest are super experienced roamers who can hold there own. (or a group of necros that like to run together) It has to be our coverage. which is sad because day one and two sf had a scary blob running around, which I assume had to be plastered to ebg. I was looking forward to a little more push. I was really looking forward to finally using ts again but there is really no point.

(side note) look at our kdr. Figure in the points for stomps. remember slapping dolyaks wont get you that far anymore.

I am appreciating the fight scene though. seems like friendly players from both sides, little havoc groups are annoying being a roamer but heck it sure beats a 70 man blob running me over!

sorry I got sidetracked. my main point was. Although we are clearly the dominant pairing. I appreciate the fight! I really mean it, it takes guts to roam or havoc group when you are clearly the minority. I applaud the efforts, don’t give up. Learn and learn quickly. A big portion of us had our stomping in t 1 but let me tell you when the odds are stacked against you, in no time you will improve. Keep your chins up and hope to see you guys keep coming out to fight, cheers!

Elitism, a growing concern.

Emerik.7846

idk if its elitism. I just think a good chunk of the player base has been around so long they have forgot what its like to be new.
I see a lot of impatience
No teaching, its like a sprint to the finish.
I play a rev and I could care less about how long a fractal takes. I just want everyone to be included and feel like they matter. So I hang back, guide new players, or run back, speed boost the stragglers and then go in as a group.

I just don’t feel that this old community realizes how many new players have been brought in with HoT.
its either that
Or there just in auto mode. And have little to no awareness. Its a means to an end to get what they need and your just a number. Not exactly elitism just selfishnessISM (yes I just made a stupid word up)

Dragon's Stand map dead

I seem to only find one at reset or around reset. Otherwise, as you said it is dead 90% of the time. for one the first portion of the meta is interesting but it takes a massive time chunk to even attempt to complete it. Second stage is mind numbing and boring. Boss fight has some cool cutscenes but not that great either. Kinda a nice way to wind down, fly around and dodge some simple stuff whack at a flying worm and get some loot.

I’m sure that full maps and dc’s have turned a lot of people off. Several times 30,45 minutes plus into the battle I myself have lost connection and my spot was eaten up by another player. I have seen it happen to my guild members and friends. Its a huge turnoff.
After gearing and masteries what reason do you have to go to DS really?
As stated the meta is to long and the rewards in my eyes aren’t worth it.
Lets fight for an hour plus then go whack some pods for 15min for subpar loot. No thanks I say, and obviously, others must/could feel the same.

Same issue happens in TD though. Although no as brutal time wise I find it even harder to find a meta there and just quit going.

Why haven't you built a Legendary Weapon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Emerik.7846

I took the mastery trait line for legendarys. Didn’t take long.
Completed my collection within a day to craft the precursor.
And was turned off by the gated items. That coupled with the fact I would end up having to dump hundreds of gold into making one turned me off.
I play enough to where I would rather save the money and purchase one outright. And possibly craft one much much further in the future. (when I run out of stuff to do)

The second factor for me was that I like specific content. I enjoy wvw and pve but being forced to pvp was not something I wanted to do. I gave it a go and was unimpressed. Matching seems unbalanced and poorly done and people seem to want to only play 3 of the same maps over and over and over again.

The whole crafting system seems confused. theres too much going on there. I can navigate it and understand it but its just a mess.

I would love love love to get into one of these “classes”
Fairly new to the game about 4 months play time. As is I think I have only done a few dungeons. I am afraid to pug the groups because I just don’t have any real experience in dungeons or raids.

I am currently playing dragonhunter but I have a full spec’d druid as well. A necro, thief and revenant at 80 but I haven’t spent the time to unlock there full elite specs.
All of my classes are full exotic with ascended rings, necklace and I think 1 trinket.

I have avoided this content due to the sole fact my guild primarily focuses on wvw and they don’t play nearly as much as I do. Coupled with the fact I am unsure of exactly what type of gear/build is best for this type of content. I am still in the testing and learning phases and as you can imagine I have spent a good chunk of gold on all of my characters (exotics, runes and sigils that aren’t cheap).

What to do with bad precursors?

in Players Helping Players

I myself got rage a few months ago. If I recall its precursor for a legendary trident. I was thinking the same thing. what do I do with this?! It sells for 45g (the precursor) I cant imagine anyone going out of there way to buy a legendary water weapon but I could be wrong.

I got it randomly from the mystic forge when I was free to play and hung onto it just because I had a feeling it was rare regardless of the price.
Still have it but like I said not sure what to do with it.

Would you delete a character if..

It depends on what $30 dollars means to you. If its no big deal axe it, if it is hang onto it. I have deleted 3 80s now but I had no cash investment into them. If you can’t get the look you want why suffer through it.

I played via a free to play account for a good three months. Hands down the best trail/free to play mode I have ever tried.

Although you are limited in some aspects; all of your achievements, collections etc carry over after upgrading.

I myself was worried about the whole gem shop and the potential of the game switching to a p2w format. Fortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Although there are a few things that could be improved with the HoT expansion All in all I am a very happy customer.

That being said one thing I do not look forward to is paying for further expansions. 60 dollars is a lot of money. I can only imagine how angry the player base was when it was released to free to play, considering they forked out 60 dollars for the initial game which they eventually gave away for free.
so we are looking at 120 dollars for some players which is insane! absolutely insane.
And ls2 is not even factored into this price.

Future expansions if set at the same price seem a bit absurd. I’m willing to fork out 20 dollars. That seems fair in my book. But with the glitchy content and the unfinished feel in HoT as well as the scrapping of legendarys why would I EVER pay $60 again.
Don’t get me wrong I probably will because its a great game but honestly this is high, very high.

Then we hear of teams being dismantled and reworked into areas. Why do I care? Its your job its not my fault you goofed, fix it find a solution and stop making excuses.

to sum it up.
Its a fun game
But with serious issues. Pay wisely

The 120 dollars argument is odd, if you buy single player games how much do you spend in a year? Guild wars 2 alone costed around 20 dollars a while back before the expansions and 10 on sales, so when it was 50 thats a good what 2 or 3 years before the expansion came out?

Im pretty sure people who upgraded to the expac got exlusive stuff for already spending money on guild wars 2 in the past, now if no one got anything for it then yea I can understand why but otherwise no.

It’s not an argument
As I wrote above I have been playing 4 months. I am fairly stating the fact that I can see why some players would be disgruntled esp when you take into acct the rest of what I wrote

Which again doesnt make sense considering they did get something for it.

It makes sense if you can’t figure it out idk what to tell you. Read through the forums the same issue comes up over and over and over again. I will leave it at that i don’t feel like arguing over a simple concept you can’t seem to grasp.

I found the rewards to be lackluster.
I took my storyline to auric basin on two level 80s and on my third 80 I decided it was time to continue my story. At this point I had a better feel for the maps and mechanics of mobs.
I was excited granted the prior storyline in vb was a disappointment in itself. I had hope things would get better…. And boy was I wrong. all in all I would give the hot story two thumbs down.
It was confusing.
I did not feel engaged in the storyline. Random npcs chattering for 5-10 minutes sometimes had me shutting the game down mid story to find something better to do or take a nap. Boring utterly boring.
Things felt incomplete, rushed, it really felt like filler. Not what I expected. I imagined great graphics, glorious cut scenes. Tough fights with multiple mechanics to complete tasks.
And don’t get me wrong there was a bit of that but with little to no direction in the story itself you were sometimes left scratching your head. I found myself jumping off random cliffs and crossing my fingers that I was headed the right way.

I wont spoil any of the story itself for those that have not experienced it but when I finally reached the end I sat staring at my screen for a good 5 minutes shaking me head and thinking “that’s it”?

I had hope that the story would give me a bit of a push to continue, to re energize me. In the end it left me… shaking my head.

The only saving grace for the expac in my eyes are the achievs. When I first started them I found the whole process tedious but theres not much else to do and not much else to keep you grinding those masteries

is this a joke? I’m happy with the difficulty. everything else in the game is basically a face roll. I am so sick of easy maps. If you cant solo mobs your doing something wrong. If you need hp’s use mapchat. Learn a bit of patience. Team up with your guild as someone suggested. But nerf? that’s just silly. This game caters to the casual as is, please leave some open world content worthwhile for us others looking for a challenge.

fairly new. looking for a devonas rest guild. I enjoy wvw. I have little to no experience with group content such as dungeons or fractals. I am finding it hard to find a guild with people willing to teach. I have access to voice chat programs but honestly have little to say. I’m willing to listen in for coordinated wvw or whatever. I have been playing about 3 months mostly from a f2p acct which I recently upgraded to HoT expansion. I write this in hopes that grouping/ teaming with some players from my actual server will help me make friends and enhance my gameplay.

please feel free to respond below or shoot me a mail within game.
