Well the title pretty much explains everything, since march i haven’t played, i don’t know where very1 is, or what have i missed, saying i’m rusty about skills is to generous.
I have a lvl 80 guardian and i just figured out i remember little about the game, so yeah, if there’s a guild out there that’s willing to help me out with questions about post-80, what to do, crafting, WvW, and all that stuff, that would be awesome.

I usually host in the most populated servers so, server is not a problem.

I remember leaving because i logged in and didn’t know what to do, i was getting bored, and i didn’t liked too much the fact that the most important thing were costumes and how kitten your sword looked, and i’m not expecting that to change.

I don’t think anything has changed since you left in this regard.

I know, i don’t come back expecting a change in that aspect, i come back because i sarted thinking a game that it’s nice graphically, good gameplay, no monthly fee, and other stuff, but the most important thing is that to succeed all i needed was my own and only individual skills and not to relay in others.

@Neve.7134 I’m used to TERA, my guardian is max lvl, so he’s lvl 80 Thanks for the reply, i’ll look for a guild that helps me.

Hello every1!! I’ve been out of GW2 for a long time, last time i played was in march, been playing some other mmorpgs, MU Online, last one was TERA, that as many other times, it ended up boring me because it was too repetitive, same stuff every time i loged in.

I’ve been reading some updates and stuff, which is good that the game keeps updating.

I used to have a friend who helped me BIG TIME to start GW2, DreamyAbaddon, you sir are an outstanding teacher for newbies.

I remember leaving because i logged in and didn’t know what to do, i was getting bored, and i didn’t liked too much the fact that the most important thing were costumes and how kitten your sword looked, and i’m not expecting that to change.

The point of this thread, is to hope for some1 that’s ethier willing to explain me what’ve i missed this 5 months and/or re-introduce me into GW2.
I had a Lvl 60 Guardian, i remember the last thing i was doing was practicing combos and stuff, guided by DreamyAbaddon.

A good reason to come back, is that in this 5 months i’ve realized, that losing a dungeon/instance/event because of other people made me really mad. And i remember abaddon telling me that if you die, it’s your fault, no1 is going to heal you, support you or assist you, because very1 have those tools, and that’s exactly what i need.

I remember that something was going on with the servers before i left, you were able to change your character server or something like that.

So well, not to make this any longer (like it’s not long already) i’ll probably log in into my guardian, but i’ll probably start a fresh new character. I’m currently downloading the game, 20% so far so it’ll end in about 4-5 hours i’m guessing. Feel free to send me PM’s and that.

PS: If you read this, dreamy, i left you a message in Skype.

I see why I stopped playing; Concerns

I think there hasn’t been a month since i’m here, i made a lvl 80 guardian in like 9 days. And i’m just getting bored right now, i think that cosmetics are pointless, my sword hits 900-1100 just as your super legendary awesome looking greatsword, so i don’t see the point on investing so many hours to make a legendary.
I do have a guild, it’s fun, i talk to people, but meh, i don’t see like, the awesome this game was when i was the 1st lvls.
There are so many thing you can add to this game to make it more entertaining.

I find no challenge, i find that although you can make a lot of builds, and all professions can use many weapons, this is not the real world, this is not the “do whatever u want, u don’t need to follow every1” because u do. And i mean, why would i want to use a staff instead of a greatsword in my guardian for example? It makes no sense, because the monsters are just bags of hp and i only want the thing that grants me the most DPS to just destroy those bags.

Super dragons like the shatterer and that kind of bosses, are awesome, the 1st time, once you’ve done it 4-5 times is just spam ur abilities, collect loot, move to the next boss. THEY ARE NOT EVEN HARD. You even hit nothing, like literally nothing, idk if it’s a bug or what, but in many bosses while they move, you just hit the air and u make dmg.

I don’t know, i find no challenge. I come from TERA, in tera, to kill a BAM (kittenMonster) you actually take your time, and it’s actually hard, and you can actually die several times trying.

I don’t see this game to be for hardcore players, people like me willing to spend hours playing and that want to actually get rewarded for it. I could be playing 15 hours a day (i am not, lol) and some1 that just gets online 5 hours, there would be no difference between us.

You CAN try and play with non-common builds, but in your head, and you can see, that the best thing here is to go full DPS, because there’s no challenge, you don’t need control/support/dmg to fight a boss or anything, you need only dmg and maybe some support if you’re alone, but that’s all.

I expect the upcoming patch to be awesome, otherwise i’ll totally regret buying this game and not keep playing tera.

What a disappointment.

What i do see in people playing games around age 13-17 is that all they want is easy games in which they can be good easily.

I don’t think 30+, i think 20+, i’m 20yo and have been playing mmo’s since i’m 10.

I think in an MMO you do have to invest time, i mean it should be like that, i don’t see an mmo doing any good if you need more money than time spent in it lol.

I am a person who don’t understand people investing so much time and money/gems in COSMETICS. I am not saying that ANet should put real rare and better items in the shop, i’m just saying i don’t understand all the hype of a super rare shiny blade if when pvping/pveing if you’re bad you’ll die no matter what nice looking items you have.

I do think this game lacks challenge in a way that dungeons are easy, monsters are bags of hp in which you need 15 seconds to understand how they work then just proceed to kill it. I don’t mean to make the game super hard, i mean that after reaching 80 you have more than pvp/wvw/daily/making legendaries.

I mean like super elite hardcore dungeons with great rewards, dungeon that change on every run, not being able to stack to make the dungeons easier, forcing you to join a dungeon without being able to have more than 1 profession in it, so you dont have pure ele-guardian-warrior dungeon runs, naked-dungeons in which you have to make the run with no armor (?.

Single-player dungeons in which you can’t join with a party, ofcourse easier than the normal ones.

IDK, there are many ways of making dungeons harder and more entertaining. I started playing last week, on thursday, today i made it to lvl 80 on my 1st character, that’s less than 10 days to reach max lvl, i never seen any challenge in pve or dungeons, didn’t try pvp yet though.

A bet on next LS story

Removing Personal Story

@MrTiggs

I don’t think you can treat personal story as living story in any point. It’s ethier personal or not.

Personally i see the PS as an exp boost more than any other thing, like if it didn’t have a reward i wouldn’t even do it. I don’t see it entertaining, i mean it’s how i am. I know people that like to Role Play, making themselves a story and actually behaveing according to it to another players, i would love to be a person that can do that, but i don’t think i can.

So yeah, appart from what i think of the personal story, i think there’s people that do care and like it, and removing it would be a terrible idea.

The destruction of LA was part of the living story and the PS is another thing. You can’t prettend that every time things like this happens, big events, that every single possible combination of personal story for every profession change according to it, because it’s impossible, like it’s insane.

Like yeah, it’s much easier to just delete the PS than looking for a solution, a non-insane solution.

I’m lvl 56 and my PS is still from lvl 22, me and i am sure many other players that comes from games like TERA and WoW where you don’t have this kind of things, it’s just no amazing or important or anything. Like i’m not used to have a story, i’ve only seen videos of lion’s arch of what happend and stuff, but if the PS and LS don’t match, i don’t care. This looks like a much bigger deal of what it should be.

I know there are people that Role Play, and care a lot about stories and make stories themselves about their own characters. But there are other people that just don’t, like if i do the PS is just to get rid of it, i do read what happens and stuff, but it’s not something really important to me.

April Fools: Bobble Heads

Changing the date works untill you change the map, some maps, at least for me it does.

I think april’s fools is about a funny prank, this is not a prank nor funny.

It WAS funny, now it’s not.

PLUS, april’s fools isn’t even a thing in my country, in my country the day when every1 does pranks is in december i think. So yeah, there should be an option to turn it on and off, and ALSO, since there are people that likes this for some reason, why not mantain it? Like make it deafult to be normal, and if people want, then you can turn it on in the Option panel.

I’ve been invited and joined some guilds, but nobody talks, even if there are several people online guilds look empty.

I’m new in the game, started 4 days ago and i’m a lvl 44 guardian. I’ve been practicing, and at least against monsters, i am not bad at killing and dmg/controling/supporting myself, for being so new.

I just want a guild in where if i need help, i am helped, or if some1 is doing nothing and i ask for some1 to come and kill a boss there might be some1 willing to do it.

Just that, i hope i get some response ^^

No Holy Trinity = Boring?

I don’t know how dungeons work here, i think there’s a limit right? In that case then you could need teamwork.

In the open worlds, with the Group Events, the big ones, you don’t need any teamwork beacuse of the amount of people making a lot of dps and with some control skills that’s it, you can kill any boss without any problem. See the queensdale Train, people runing around killing bosses just literally spaming all the dps they have and some guys maintaining the monster in it’s place, dies, loot, move on to the next one.

That’s not fun at all, there’s no challenge in that. But also, it’s almost impossible to take the boss by yourself, so yeah.

I’m new, it’s been 4 days i’m here, i’m lvl 41 guardian but i had this great teacher who tought me about pvp and skills, and showed me the game, and i’ve been practicing in this non-trinity style of playing. And i love it.
It’s much more challengin, you can try lot’s of things, you have traits to best your builds, you have, at least with my guardian, 19 utilities!!!! On top of other 10 abilities which can vary depending on your weapon, you can even equip a scepter and change the 4 and 5 skill depending if what you are using.
It’s just fantastic, the combinations, finding what you find best, trying to make up some new stuff. I can’t wait to start making pvp and WvW.
You don’t need to just grind super awesome-legendary swords to win a fight because on top of that gear you’re a DPS which thanks to those super rare legendary blades not even a good tank can stop you.
Here is strategy vs strategy, who has more control in a fight, can support himself and also deal damage, is who is going to win, doesn’t matter if you have this super rare sword if you can’t even reach the other guy because of all the control he has over you, right?
You just can’t go full damage because you lack of control and your little support will make you lose, you can’t go full control/support because you probably won’t make enough damage.

I don’t miss the trinity at all, i wanna practice this non-trinity playstyle and be good at it. What i do miss is something like a global chat, or guilds where people actually talk. I’ve been invited and joined like 4 guilds, not.a.single.guild.message. I don’t get it, you don’t need to grind that much, lvling is fun, i am getting like 1k exp from descovering waypoints!! Why not stop to talk about something, idk..

Thanks every1 for all the help, i hope i find nice people willing to help ingame too ^^ I’m currently reading the guide in this forum for new players, looks like the game has a lot of content so i expect to have fun. Can’t wait for the game to finish downloading, about 70% only downloaded

What i could understand from every message is that this indeed is a game which you ofcourse can have a group of people, but you definately can do it up to 80 alone, which i think it’s pretty cool, since i usually don’t look for parties unless it’s 100% necessary like in tera in which you couldn’t do some quest because you needed a party.

I also like the fact the max lvl is 80 and not 60 as it’s common in most MMO’s.

Ofcourse, i don’t expect nothing from any1, i don’t expect everything to be awesome, but i’ll try to play this game different from before, i think that doing the same although the games are different, it’s what makes me feel bored about an MMORPG.

Another thing, i saw the WvW thing, there are worlds where i create my character? Can i have some info about them? There’s that hostile thing between them or doesn’t matter where i create it?

Thank you for the response.

What about at the end? When i reach lvl 80, it should matter what proffesion am i, right? I saw somewhere that at last, what matters is the highest DPS, is that true?

Like how does the after max lvl works? I know i may be rushing by asking this and i don’t even have the game yet haha, but it’s important to have a team of different proffesions, that play well together?

I also meant that for example, in TERA you have easy professions such as Berzerker, which has a kitten axe which not also blocks a ton of dmg but deals quite a bit of it. But you also have a Slayer which has a kitten sword but you need a lot of mobility and to time your jumps to avoid monster’s skills because you can’t tank at all, you can’t afford to take 3-4 swings of a kitten monster because you’ll die.

I know sorcerers and magical professions are usually physycally weak, but yeah i was wondering which is the easiest profession to begin with, who is the Berzerker and Slayer of GW2.

I’m sorry i keep mentioning TERA, but it’s the comparison i can make.

Hello everyone, new player here!!

I am currently downloading the game, never played GW 1 so i’m literally new to the game.

I come from playing TERA Lately, little bit of L2 some months ago, but i wanted to try this game for so long. I think that there are a lot of things told about it, like “it’s dead” or something, but i don’t care about it.

Since i’ve been told the questing and history line is not like a normal MMORPG i wanted to know any advice about it.

Also, i’m more of a solo player, none of my friends will play this game, i read a review on Amazon where i bought it which said it’s pretty good for solo players, i wanted to know which are the best characters/races to begin, i usually play DPS/ranger/sorcerer, since for PvE they are pretty good, and since i’m from South America, i don’t have the best PING, in TERA isn’t a problem, i don’t know about servers here.

I would really like to play as a tank/healer since i never did because i always play solo, no parties or anything, i don’t know how that works here?

I’ve downloaded only 1.5gb of the game and it’s on 6%, pretty heavy game, but it’s good to start knowing stuff before i even play.

Also i bought the Heroic edition, which comes with some exp boost, should i save them for later lvls or use them right away?

I’m sorry if this is not where i should make this post.
