In Trahearne’s office! That became accessible today. Thanks for the info; I’m off to try to find him. There was a lot of chatter yesterday about his being missing; that’s why I was asking…:)

I have my lovely Pact Victory Token, BUT the pact quartermaster (Hargrove or Hargrave, I think) has gone missing. Did he abscond with all the loot, or is he hiding somewhere in Fort Trinity?

Help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks

gem purchases

I’ve noticed that all the gem purchases come out to the same price/gem. Is there any room in the economic model for breaks in bulk purchases? I love the gem store set up, but I hope that some gem purchase bonuses are in the works.

is mass stealth giving the full 5 seconds of invisibility like the tool tip says it does?

I never liked the greatsword, is it really any good?

My mesmer just turned 62, and I love using the GS with her. Right now she has almost 13k hit points, 1284 power, and 22% crit chance; her range is a 1200 meters. I use the “pewpew” skill as a range finder before I fire off mirror blade (#2) and phantasmal berserker (#3). She is hitting for 1300 to 1400 points on #3 (slightly less on #2), and the blade simply flies from foe to foe in large groups (adding significant damage). I’m traited for extra life and damage on my clones and faster re-summoning with trait and more shatter options with signet of illusions.

I will try the scepter and torch just to see what that’s all about, and I regularly keep a staff in the second slot, but after seeing the sea of damage numbers when she uses the greatsword, I don’t know that I’ll even keep up the expense of a staff much longer.

With all the good from the greatsword, I could stand the “pewpew” noise, but, fortunately, it doesn’t bother me. Good luck in your search for a good weapon match to your playstyle; that’s what it boils down to in the end…:)

Will this work with gauth4win (Google Authenticator for Windows)? Has anyone tried it?

If I understand correctly, this would let me use my PC instead of a smartphone, and prevent anyone (including me) logging into my account from any other computer than my gaming PC. Which would suit me fine.

I thought this at first when I read the install instructions, but I think t’is just a 2 step install: your computer (with proper software) would need to ding their code server that would then send a code to your phone(with proper app); however, I am not sure.

hello Mike, I love the 2 step authentication. Please consider adding the key fob authenticator; I live in a no-reception area for phones, so the app will not do for me. The email authentication is great, but please keep the key fob idea on the back burner…thanks

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

So keeping that in mind, I’d love to see a class with heavy armor that uses 2h axes, polearms, or spears.

a Gladiator…like the class in Aion; a very versatile class, good starter class for new players but challenging at higher levels due to melee AoE abilites that can get them killed very quickly; super great response to the thief class in PvP (another challenge there for the Glads: managing cooldowns in PvP combat). It would be nice to try the dodge and roll with one of those.

…goes something like this:

“…that moot… (woman NPC);
Look, I TOLD you I’m sorry; I didn’t MEAN to set your mother on fire! (man NPC)”

(heard in Hoelbrak over by the trainers)

there’re a lot of really good ones in Lion’s Arch. I won’t give them away, but try listening in on the birthday party over by the outdoor beer garden…<snicker>

Big Patch?

I won’t cancel WoW at first, but I fully intend to once I complete the main Pandaria quest content. Honestly though….I preordered Pandaria. If I hadn’t done that before GW2 came out, I would probably just cancel right now.

I’ve tried to play WoW since GW2 came out, and it just doesn’t hold my interest at all anymore…

Last time I got free time, i logged on for about 5 min and logged right back out. It amazes me some of my friends can still play it like it’s brand new.

I know…I mean, seriously? another wow toon…incredible

Hacking tends not to be so much a server side issue as it is a client side issue. That is to say the hacking going on right now is not for lack of security at ANet. They didn’t lose a list of passwords and logins due to internal security. I’d say at least 99% of all hacked accounts are direct results of lack of diligence on the part of the end user. Either not using a unique password from a previously hacked account or falling prey to fishing attempts.

First week of launch I got the warning email regarding someone trying to reset my password. Most likely someone was trying to log in using my old WoW credentials. I know for a fact that my old WoW account was hacked (luckily long after I had quit playing) because I was unable to log in with it to sign up for the D3 beta.

You can’t blame a lock company for making faulty locks if you leave your key laying around, or worse Blizzard leaves your key laying around.

I’m very diligent, and they are still trying to get into my account. they have my user name and PW (which has been changed again, now). thanks to the authentication; they failed, BUT, in case you missed it, at least one gaming database has been hacked and email addresses stolen. now they are just PW rolling for the the PWs and whatever else they do to try to get in…:(

Player to Player trading

In most games the trader/auction fees are a luxury tax, that you had options around but paid for the ease of use. Here it is a sales tax, no way around. Also, there is no way to barter, everything is converted to coin. You might say use mail, but making “gentleman’s agreements” with complete strangers with 100% anonymity and no recourse isn’t very smart.

I have to agree; in this one way, Guild Wars 2 feels restrictive; while, otherwise, it feels open and expansive. Trading through the mails is risky and very dependent on the mail system working. Right now, with all the systems working, it’s not such a big deal, but when the mail was down and the TP was broken, I was very frustrated. I had guild mates that needed some drops I had: I couldn’t even throw the items down on the ground for them to pick up (of course this IS an improvement over lineage2 where your gear could fall on the ground when you died and be picked up by anyone nearby!).

I see the lack of P2P trading as a vulnerability to the game that really has no available remedy right now. Hopefully, the mail and TP won’t malfunction anymore, and all will remain well.
