Compensation won’t happen and I imagine a few hundred – low thousand people at the least will be quitting. Some people getting 300-400gold out of this event while we’re left with nothing but a 11silver repair fee.
Guild mate made 300 gold from Dusk. I lost 11 silver in repairs with no chest rewards. GG, seems fair.
I STILL can’t log in.
Was getting DC’d multiple times throughout this long event and I missed out on the final chest. Most of my guild were able to loot it and ended up with things that helped out their character and here I am being left out after giving the same effort. Apparently this is happening to more than a few people.
@Kravick – My build is a hybrid and I’m not even sure if it’s efficient but it seems to work out. It’s 30/0/20/0/20. The power tree has the 20% more damage to targets with less than 50% health. The toughness tree has unblockable marks + 20% faster staff skills. DS tree has marks give life force. My armor is mostly Carrion with power/vit/cond but I have a few toughness/precision/cond along with it.
@Pincushion – It’s funny because I have ~400 hours on my main Asura Guardian and I never even touched that racial but it just seems too good not to use on my Necro.
All plague form needs is to be able to still use utilities while in it.
I’ll make more eventually once I learn the more complex intricacies of the Necro. Hopefully this big patch brings a lot of the bug fixes. I’m not so fond of the flesh golem doing anything but attack my target.
Necro is my alt so I haven’t really picked up on a really good play-style yet. This is just a for fun video I’m not trying to say that I’m good or show how good Necros are I just enjoy recording videos. If someone has any tips for cool effects for future videos I would appreciate it. I have Sony Vegas 11 but no idea how to work it so I just throw clips into windows movie maker.
I’ll post build if requested.
@kreo – it does 3 stacks of confusion and each stack does ~850 per skill use. Unless I understand it wrong? All I know is that when I use it on a thief they go down in 2-3 seconds.
Also, is corrupt boon really that good? I like having utilities with lower cooldowns.
Oh sorry. I’m 30/0/20/0/20. With mostly Carrion armor that has power / vit / cond. Yes pain inverter is a racial, yes, but it’s invaluable. The confusion is more important than the retaliation. It does 2100 damage for every skill they use over the next 5 seconds! For thieves, that’s their entire health pool.

Mostly 1v1 fights and sometimes 1v2, 1v3. Right now I have well of suffering, pain inverter, and spectral walk. Pain inverter is a free win against warriors, thieves, and rangers. Well of suffering I use when daze players with warhorn 4 and beat them down with dagger 1. Spectral walk is for perma swiftness with warhorn 5. I’m kinda dead set on spectral walk and pain inverter but I feel like there is a more useful utility than well of suffering. Any suggestions? Remember this is for roaming 1v1’s where DPS is almost always more superior to survival.
Oh lame. I was thinking the swiftness counted as part of the skill.
In the Curses line there’s a trait that says it increases the duration of spectral skills but before I traited for it, my spectral walk lasted 35 seconds (with the increased boon duration, up from 30), but after I traited it was still 35 seconds. Is this happening for everyone?
@Devildoc – You’re complaining about the change in burst and then compare a fix to it to damage over time? Move along guys, OP doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
@ Danicco – Seems like his armor in the first picture is a set of precision / toughness / condition gear with runes of the soldier. That’s Valk jewelry and he probably has a Radiance, Valor, Honor build.
Retaliation – Reflect incoming damage back to its source; stacks duration.
Retaliation reflects damage based on level and scales with power, increasing damage by 1 for every 13.4 power. At level 80, base damage is 267.
Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Retaliation
The Wiki article does not mention anything about it being capped.
Wait so, for every 13.4 power of the person that has retaliation? Or for the power of the person hitting someone with retaliation..
Does anyone else think traited meditations should be treated as a "heal" skill?

I ask because I was really excited about the synergy between the 3rd bonus of the Rune of Lyssa set would be with a mediheal build. For those of you that don’t know, the 3rd bonus is "When you use a healing skill, you gain a random boon for 10 seconds. (10 second cooldown). "
Do you think this would be a good idea? Or do you think it would pigeon hole this rune set into the must have for Guardians and similar builds for other classes?
Wrath you definitely do not do as much DPS as any other profession. When you can crit for 25k come back to talk.
The skills in this game are organized by cool down, which is why SoW was moved back. There is a reason for this change, and no number of requests can get your old skill bar back without changing the cool downs again.
Really now? Go try out a dagger dagger Ele and tell me that the earth attuned 4 is short than the 5. It’s ok, I’ll wait. Oh? You can’t confirm that? BECAUSE NOT ALL SKILL BARS ARE ORDERED BY COOL DOWN.
May I ask which runes you are using?
I agree with one point of yours and that’s the animation lock of Renewed Focus. This should definitely be something you can use on the move. Also, 2 more chances that I think would round off the Guardian quite nicely is to remove the slow on whirling blades (I think that’s the name? GS skill 3), and to fix the scepters auto attack. It’s way too slow, double the projectile speed and cut the attack speed in half or whatever would balance the projectile increase. Every other skill is fine and works in one build or another.
I figured quite a bit are finishing up their gear/runes/traits to their liking. Just wondering what numbers people are pushing.
This build works for dungeons, solo, and PvP but it’s main purpose is for small skirmish WvW fights.
Also, I have a superior rune of accuracy on my sword which is bugged so the crit chance doesn’t show up on the stats table. I really have 41% crit.
You definitely want a meditation build.
This is my trait set up that works with particular gear.
Berserker Armor and Valk Jewelry with 10/10/30/20/0.
I have 3.1k attack, 40% crit, 90% crit damage, 2500 armor, 16.1k health.
My utilities include 2 meditations which heal for about 2.5k each, with one of them having a 15 second cooldown essentially making it’s effective heal per 30 seconds the 2nd best heal for a Guardian (Signet of Resolve being the highest, marginally.)
I use Judge’s intervention because it’s a 1200 range blink, inflicts burning which activates the 10% damage to burning from the zeal tree, and it heals for 2.5k from the meditations now heal trait. I use Smite Condition because it removes a condition, does nice burst (3-4k aoe crits), and another 2.5k that you can use every 15 seconds with the reduce meditation cooldown trait. My last utility is Retreat and that’s just because to me mobility is king, but you could put another meditation there and have three 2.3k heals on top of your signet of resolve.
Let me know if you try it out and tell me what you think.
As a new’ish Guardian, I always enjoy reading these kind of threads, but I’ve noticed that players’ builds are rarely mentioned, which leads me to kind of a fundametal question: Do you guys gear to compensate for weaknesses in you trait selection, or do you go for flat out stacking?
I’ve been trying to go for kind of a balanced approach. 30 in both valor and honor seems pretty defensive (but I like the traits), but I was considering going bereserker’s or something to make up for the lack of offensive firepower on my armor, and maybe some healing on accessories to make some of the passive heals (direct too I suppose) at least somewhat effective.
Does this work? Or am I kittening myself by spreading stuff around too much?
I use traits to make up for the lack of defense I lose by wearing dps gear. Zerker gear, Valkrye jewelry. 10/10/30/20/0 traits.
This might be asking too much but I feel like it would be a great addition. The CoF armor has fire coming from the gauntlets/shoulders/chest and I think it would be really cool if when slotted by a guardian, the fire turned from red to the blue that Guardians use. The theme between armor and skill use would be AMAZING. If people were to get upset about that special treatment to Guardians, why not just make the flames able to be dyed? Im not sure how hard these options would be to implement. What do you guys thing?
I attached a perfectly accurate representation I made in MS paint. Before and after.
After playing a Guardian to 80, and a thief to 30 I decided I’d play a more ranged focused class. I’m at my mid 20s now but even looking at the list of utility skills waiting to be unlocked I don’t see any that make me think, “Oh man I can’t wait to have that!”
Is it just me?
I recorded a few clips with Bandicam in half size to test the quality. It’s pretty blurry at fullscreen even at 720p. For some reason when I record in full screen, the video comes out choppy even though the game ran fine. Any ides on what that may be?
Also, just wanted to see if the resolution of half screen is tolerable. It comes out a lot more smooth than full screen. Would anyone be put off from potential PvP videos by me if I stuck to half screen or should I see about finding a better recording software?
