and op, u r so wrong, everything in open world (soloplaying) is easy. u just dont manage those proffessions yet.
the problem in pve w specific problems is, they dont have enough support for the team, for example, compare necro to an ele , the difference is huge:
necro, has high SINGLE target dmg, but not as high as staff ele, and staff ele is using aoe + doing more dmg to single targets in pve as well
staff ele can stack party might, necro cant
ele can support w water fields and different boons, necro cant
ele has minor amount of reflects, can be used with aura share , necro doesnt
(ele also has swirling winds, if using focus)ele can give fgs, self explanationary
icebowtheres way more, but just so u can get a grasp of the pve proffesion difference
I think you misunderstood.
I’m NOT talking about easy vs. hard.
I AM talking about one class being easier or harder than another in the same situations.
Since you state an example that clearly shows that they are not equal, I don’t see what your problem with my post is.
Specifically, I’m saying that their referring to the upcoming changes as “balancing” is a misnomer. They’re changing them, but not towards balanced. They’re just making them all better.
That’s the whole point of classes. Some are better at taking down vets, others are better at destroying mass trash mobs. The fact that you cannot take down a vet with all classes tells me something. I suck, and I could still take down a vet several levels above me with an untraited mesmer, which are known to be very underpowered.
Agree with igmolicious yeah EotM is probably your best bet if you can get a good train.
A couple of things you are probably aware of but are worthy of note:
1. When you turn into either elite form your power in hugely increased; therefore, if you place a Big-Ole-Bomb and then transform the bomb explodes after the transform and benefits from the power increase.
2. Toss Elixir B gives you a stability. If you use it before overcharged shot you don’t get knocked down
3. You can increase duration of Elixir X either via Elite Supplies or Potent Elixirs (if I remember correctly). If you take into account your high elixir recharge rate you end up with an uptime of 25 seconds on rampage every 84 seconds. That is almost 1/3 uptime on your elite! My recommendation would be for you to always include bomb kit, and maybe flamethrower (for knockback); use the sequence BoB> netshot>Elixir X for the mega damage; and lastly to change your power shoes to elite supplies for elite uptime (and try to keep swiftness from the toss skills and elixir b). The build looks like fun. I will be trying it later tonight. Have fun.
It’s Elite Supplies. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elite_Supplies
If you don’t like kits, don’t play engi. All their flexibility comes from kits, from condi to support to power to tank. All because of kits.
Also, use quick-casting when using nades.
Ranger w/ longbow probably. They are getting a new trait with double speed arrows, so they will be harder to dodge even at full range.
Question for all you feature guessers.
I was just about to start crafting ascended berserker armor (for my memser). Would you advise to hold off doing this or do you guys think nothing in this feature pack will change either: mesmer’s using berserker as BiS for pve content or change the way ascended crafting is done (I was planning on buying all the armor padding/linings etc)
I’m quite eager to craft it so I’d only hold off if people are sure it would be the best choice..
There is talk about a possible level cap increase. I would hold off.
Removing Restrictions: all weapons for all classes
Yes! Finally! I’ve always wanted my warrior to use staff and s/f.
/agree
I’m really happy that i don’t plan to level any new character at the moment, since that all doesn’t really sounds funny but more like boredom.
As someone with 8 toon slots with only 2 of them 80, these changes make me want to stop playing.
Quaggan with “Enraged” elite skill! Also check this one out! Rest my case!
kitten and cute!
Who says we can’t have cute Kodans?
But… you won’t have traits until 30? Why?
Nah, I would prefer Tengu first, I have been wanting to play as an Avicara Brave since Guild Wars one.
But then you can’t rename all your toons really cheezy bear puns.
You must make it Kodan or you will be infringing on my right as a citizen of the United States of America the right to BEAR ARMS. But seriously, if it’s Kodan, I will reroll all my toons as Kodan and give you all my money and my first 3 children. Okay maybe not first 3 children, as my future wife would be very mad. But all my money, yes.
Well…if you want to maximize DPS, then you’ll probably want to run the current meta build. Here’s a good guide for that one: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84268-the-perfect-dps-ranger-guide-for-real/
However, if you’re new to the class, you may not want something that glassy. If you modify your current build, I would recommend dropping at least Spike Trap for Quickening Zephyr since the condition damage from that trap won’t do much for a power build.
Okay, thanks. The only problem is I want some CC and the cripple was very nice for that. But I guess I can work around that.
My ranger just hit 80. Bought most of his exotics, minus a couple of trinkets or whatever. So he’s geared moderately nicely. Pretty much everything is accurate to what I’m running now. Looking for decent DPS. Any tips?

Okay Thanks a lot.
Can someone go over how each weapon plays? Just general ideas would be great.
I like the patch. Sure it wasn’t all we want, but it’s a step in the right direction. I think we should applaud anet for going in the right direction and ask them to keep buffing rangers.
This just isn’t true. Nor would it be an issue any way, something inevitably has to be the highest priced item. Not only is greatsword not necessarily the highest damage dealing weapon for each class NOR is it the most expensive item to buy as far as exotic stats/pearl weapons goes.
Well, of the 4 classes that can use it, from what I’ve seen:
Very Popular on Warrior and Mesmer
Popular on Guardian
Sorta Popular on Ranger
I’m just saying that because of the rules of supply and demand, the greatsword is more expensive just because of the demand.
I believe Donari is correct.
I’ve noticed something interesting about greatswords. On just about every class that can use them, they are almost always one of the best damage dealers. And since many players build damage, greatswords are high in demand. This leads to the price of greatswords being very high, especially late game. This is seen since the highest priced item in the game (not even just weapon) is a greatsword. Do you agree? Do you disagree? How might we fix this problem?
Does it affect 1? Or is it just the other skills?
Which do you prefer? Why?
Personally, I like Rifle or Tool Kit when doing the turrets build. I also like bombs or grenades for AoE and grenades over bombs. Which do you like to use?
I heard that you can get from 50 -> 80 just from crafting. With that in mind, what is the cheapest skills for my alts that I want to hit 80 from 50?
