Incident 120903-001548.
It has now been 11 days since my account was hacked and 6 days since it was returned to me and I requested either a credit to my credit card for gems I just had bought before the hack occurred or a return of the gems. I provided the order number for the gems in the incident report.
Also, I appear to have lost my CE items too when I deleted my first character.
Thank you for your help.

Incident # 120903-001548 has been open since September 2. As of today, that is 10 days.
On September 2, via an order # I would rather not post here (but which I did provide in the report), I bought 4000 gems. I then logged. I was not able to log on again, as my account was hacked.
My account was returned to me on September 7, 5 days ago. On that date, I provided the order number for the gems and asked to have them reimbursed—or credited back to my credit card so I could buy them again.
I have not heard anything since, and it has been 5 days.
I could dispute the charge, but that would make no sense, as I’d just want to buy gems again. Also, I would like to know that Arena Net is going to support its legitimate customers before I pay any more money to it.
Here, Arena Net didn’t lose anything at all, as it already has been paid for the gems, and the gems reside/resided on its servers. I am the only person who has suffered, and respectfully I ask to be reimbursed.
Thank you.
I don’t see why Anet wouldn’t return items. It’s not like Anet lost anything, after all.
The bad thing about this thread is that people whose email addresses have been changed (like mine was) have no voice at all. So if they post a request for help, and days pass, they don’t have any alternatives other than to dispute the charge for the game.
Arena Net should figure out a way other than the ticket system to let people vent/ask for help.

For me, about 4 hours after receiving that message from “Lance”, I got my account back. I promptly used a password strength checking web site to make a 100% strong password. I also signed up for email authentication. It took Arena Net 5 days to resolve the problem.
I also had messaged Arena Net through Facebook, and I posted on reddit about it. I don’t know if either of those made a difference, but within a few hours of doing those, I got that Lance email (and then got the problem solved).
Good luck not just to you guys, but to all the people who can’t post on the forum because their email addresses were changed.
After going 5 days with a hacked account (Sept. 2 to Sept. 7), finally I got my account back. And I made a password that scores 100 on a password strength checker site.
But my question is this: is Arena Net planning to return the gems the hacker stole? I had just bought 4000, logged—and got my account hacked. When I came back, my money was gone, sure, but more importantly, so were my gems.
