My damage has went up considerably after learning the class and getting zerker gear because I know how to survive. Lightning whip doing 4k twice in pve is quite nice I think! In pvp I see 5 digit numbers quite often.

9/10 Even though I see human female eles all the time, still not terrible!
I struggle quite a bit making my charr look decent x.x
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
My main is a female charr!
But yeah I hardly see any others on TC, all males >.<
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
Probably not. If precision is the main stat it will do less dps than zerker armor because of the significant loss of power. Considering you get plenty of crit chance with zerker gear and fury, or just use a trait that ups it to 100% in stealth. I don’t see why anyone would want precision as the top stakittens
just compensation for people who got explorers gear, the way I see it.

Ehhh honestly the old RTL could be locked down by decent players. With the new condition meta I can see a lot of eles dying anyway even if they do escape with RTL. Cause.. you know.. conditions and such. Either is fine, I still escape just fine if i need to with the current RTL, just can’t use it for damage anymore..

I know people have been complaining about skill lag in massive zerg fights, but my issue as of late is different. It seems every time I go to enter combat in wvw (Pve works just fine with no issues) even if its just one or two enemies I’m up against. I disconnect it seems, even though I can still type in guild chat and see them messaging, until I die. Then everything just sorta super speeds up until I see my corpse on the ground.
Its very frustrating and I’m close to quitting wvw because I can’t even fight one person. So hopefully I’m not the only one with this issue. >.<

Same thief was also getting inside of SM and attacking people trebbing, with no walls knocked down, somehow. Granted it was very amusing because they did nothing at all, but still it shouldn’t have been happening to begin with.
I’ve personally never felt so satisfied killing a thief in a long long time. xD
They should really change how the contest system works, its only going to encourage more theives who can harass entire servers even if the player’s skill level is bad, then abuse stealth and hardly ever get caught. Its really easy to do nothing but run away, and even if they die they can get back by the time the timer is up.

Found one! Since I just hit 80 today. Tested it in WvW and its fantastic.
I got knight’s armor with ruby orbs in them, berserker greatsword, knight’s sword/shield. For trinkets I bought knight’s and put zerker jewels in them.
Went with 20/20/0/0/30 and it put me at a solid 50% crit, 70 crit damage with over 3,200 attack power, and its still decently tanky.
Now the next hard choice will be dye combination XP

URMAHGERD stealth is op! Just kidding.
Haha well this certainly isn’t an exploit, nice work!
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
I feel that since knight’s is very very hard to farm through dungeons, to start with that and later farm berserker’s or whatever else I want. Hopefully this thread can help you guys too! ^^

Honestly, I feel a P/D dagger thief has more hard counters than any other thief build, even P/P. The main reason is the damage output and lack of crowd control, and you have to waste a utility to put on more than one condition being a condition build at that. Being an elementalist, I am pretty much immune to P/D thieves unless I’m afk. I just heal too much for them and can remove the conditions easily as soon as they’re put on. Sneak attack, if every shot lands, does about 1k not counting the bleed yeah? That and the fact that you can dodge a cloak and dagger, do that and they do hardly any damage.
Its a good build for dueling, but its going to be really hard to actually keep people dead without any aoe or CC. Though for that, maybe you could switch to D/D and death blossom + basilisk venom the people reviving? Caltrops on them maybe? Who knows, maybe scorpion wire?
Now that I think about it, scorpion wire into cloak and dagger sounds hilarious. Also P/D isn’t that hard to play even against 5 people.

So I’ve been trying to decide on a build for my warrior once I hit 80, scouting all about the forums looking for one, and as you can tell by the title I haven’t found one. I’ve been leaning heavily towards knight’s armor, but I just want something that works for dungeons, WvW, and hopefully fractals later on once I actually become decent at them <.> (as in higher level fractals)
Also something that puts out decent damage! I don’t like to imagine my character taking all the hits then countering with some wimpy kicks to the shin as I try to catch up to them in WvW, I wanna smash!
For the weapons, greatsword and axe or sword/shield is what I want to use at first. Most likely a hammer later on for the smashy smashy.
But I just can’t make up my mind on the traits, trinkets, sigils, utilites and runes!
So, ye almighty warriors of the forum, do you have any advice or builds for me to look at?

I think elementalist would get portal before a thief would.

Hey very nice build, and great video! I swear I fought you outside of anz today if you can remember a TC charr ele in cof armor. Sadly was lagging out and logged soon after if that was you. Curse ye bad internet!
I’m curious what trinkets you’re using. I may give it a try on my thief
Not a huge fan of D/D thief so I may just have to give this build a go. ^^

Barnaby, all it would take is their ally dead on the wall. Use cloak on wall, revive a bit, use cloak again. Rinse, repeat. If the area starts to get aoe’d like crazy, go hide for a bit until it cools off.

But i will stick with my D/D ele to show that player skill is more OP than spells.
What i believe in ftw.
This is what I’m going to do as well, considering I’ve played ele since release.

I’ve seen this before. Its cloak and dagger on a wall, which triggers no revealed debuff, so you can continue to stack it up to the cap. This is on any wall that can be damage by siege, it seems. And like the OP saw, its possible to rez someone inside the tower. It also makes it impossible for any sweep team to find the thief, except for melee spam looking for attack chains.
A fix for this would be to trigger revealed debuff while using cloak and dagger in stealth on a wall.
Actually my own experiments have found that it does give you revealed sometimes(50%, in my experience), but you don’t leave stealth, however you are immune to entering further stealth. It’s very very buggy. I still do not think stacking CnD would have explained it though, as it would take all his CnDs to get around 7-8 seconds of stealth, in which time he has to get to the body, rez, make it back, and find the initiative to get more CnDs. Simply spamming CnD off the wall in quick sucession is not a sustainable perma stealth. It requires a lot of intricate timing of the second you leave stealth. He had to use something else.
I guess the question now is, OP, did you see any shadow refuge, blinding powder, ect?
If not, was most likely not a thief
If you have auto-attack on, its likely the revealed debuff you’re getting is caused by an accidental backstab on the wall, and if you have a stealth based build (say regen initiative in stealth, get 2 initiative on stealth skill usage, and extra second duration per stealth skill) its possible to reach the stealth cap with ease.

I would love to have a burst build that has a chance to survive more than a gust of wind, but alas we’re all trapped in bunker spec. Which is something that is quite fun to play but also takes a lot of skill to use it well.
So I hope that bunker doesn’t get nerfed into the ground, but instead they open up more options by adding a decent burst ele build.

Ya’ll need to go outside and get some fresh air.
This is how I keep busy on slow days at work :p
I talked to your dog. He said you never take him for walks anymore.
I honestly wish I had a dog. Been wanting a Shiba Inu for a while, but currently do not have the space for a dog
I actually used to help raise and sell Shiba Inus for a long time. Great dogs!

Being from TC, I’ll have to say that I had the most fun fighting members of FA, who kept going after a losing streak (Much respect for that!), and had a lot of people who were skilled and knew their class and how to fight. Currently, I miss those great small scale fights.

Oh my god that is amazing, I wish I could have been there! Can only imagine what the people in SM were thinking seeing that many golems charging their gate before it all ended to oil.
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
Bedinar that was a great read, made me laugh too! Kinda wish I was there to witness as it would have made the story even better.
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
As a charr I get.
“Feel the flame!”
“Water!”
“The wind is here!”
“Earth!”
Actually isn’t too annoying for me, at least its not the “I could outrun a centaur.” nonsense.

I agree that the stealth rendering is a problem, since its distracting having to spam tab just to see if someone is there leaving stealth.
As for bunkers and protection, isn’t there a sigil that has a 60% chance to remove a boon on crit?
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
Yeah I know what you mean. Naaaah the class isn’t unbalanced, just seems everyone is making one for some odd reason, maybe looks. /sarcasm
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
Only thing that bothers me about them is the free 5 extra seconds or so of stealth they get because of rendering issues, I find myself mashing tab all the time just to target them and even if I do I can’t see their animations. Other than that, I don’t have much problems with the profession. Not a major complaint though as I still kill them easily.
Also yeah you can use a teleport and finish the stomp on them. Such as steal without mug or infiltrator’s signet, also lightning flash on ele if you can land it I’m sure. Very effective.

Secret to playing a d/d, bringing Cannon back in Glass Cannon
in Elementalist
Posted by: Eslakon.8149
Another alternative to armor runes would be the runes of air. I haven’t tried this build yet but my current build is very similar and the 20% chance of lightning proc happens a lot, and its pretty much a free 3,000 to 6,000 damage surprisingly. I’ve had thieves hit me from stealth and lose a good portion of their health with no effort from me 8D
Member of [STFU] S T F University on Tarnished Coast
I’ve been running a burst D/D ele for a while, and the numbers from lightning whip are quite high, depending on defense it goes from 1,000 – 1,800 per hit, and I can combo most professions dead before they can get off the floor (The glass cannons that is, which a lot of people run, mainly thieves). The fire auto totals up for about 3,000 a hit if everything crits at point black. And surviving isn’t too difficult with a well time mist form and heal, just make sure you swap to earth if possible for the protection.
Churning Earth + Lightning Flash = beautiful combo and the follow-ups are so easy!
For some real damage to a group of enemies. Start channeling churning earth while in lightning flash range > lightning flash > churning earth goes off > Earthquake > Ring of Earth > Switch to Air > Ride the lightning > Updraft > Switch to fire > Burning Speed > Ring of Fire > Arcane Wave.
Its a hell of a combo if you pull it off, and if you get caught in the middle just Mist form and escape. The combo is actually really fast, and several enemies will be on the ground or at least the one you targeted.

I find there are easy counters to backstab build, and usually its just 1 utility for pretty much all of theirs. Most of the time you can see the thief running at you if you are aware, the most common sign is they’ll have basilisk venom up, just judge the distance and roll (once or twice, if you get hit anyway you’ll still have a backup utility if you brought one. Works a lot for me, no utility wasted and most of theirs gone.) when they get close enough to steal (mug). From the classes I’ve played, if you do get hit its easy to see your character turn to stone and hit one of the following. Keep in mind if they mug while you’re rolling it means their venom is gone.
Warrior – Endure pain. (‘Shake it off!’ may be an option. ‘Fear me!’ as well.)
Thief – Shadowstep.
Mesmer – Blink, and I think I’ve used decoy (Didn’t mess around with mesmer much, so not sure what works and what doesn’t). Not sure if distortion works.
Elementalist – Mist form, lightning flash.
So if you see the other team has a backstab thief, just change one of your utilities to counter them and keep a finger near that hotkey when they’re around. Since they usually only have one combo to pull off.
I still get caught with it from time to time and die, either with low hp or cooldowns on my skills, I just accept it, since I can easily catch them just as easily with my burst and down them before they know what hit them. A backstab thief doesn’t have any means of preventing CC in their utilities most of the time.
If we’re simply complaining about pure damage, warrior hundred blades is another thing (Mostly with frenzy) if you don’t counter it, same thing. There are supposed to be classes that remove people quickly at the cost of being removed quickly themselves.
Hope this helps. Just my 2 cents.
