Hello, I’ve recently made a new character and have just reached level 80 with the intention of going with full Valkyrie stats.
As of level 60 I have been using the Ornate Tailors Backpack with Valkyrie stats, and have just upgraded it to an Elegant Tailors Backpack, only to find that these are the only available stat sets:
-Apothecary
-Berserker
-Captain
-Cavalier
-Celestial
-Cleric
-Knight
-Rabid
-Rampager
-Soldier
I have tried both the offensive and defensive versions of the backpack and found the same thing, and have not seen any mention of it on any website… It’s kind of put my plans on hold as I now don’t know what to do, I am now also backpackless.
Is this a bug, or is it intentional? The level 60 backpack had access to Valkyrie, so I do not understand.

Yeah I am having this problem as well.
I have finally obtained an ascended spire, and am so so happy to have obtained it. As we have a wardrobe now, the skin is stored and I can apply it at any time. However, I find myself kind of in want of a weapon skin that leaves a trail for WvW purposes.
Finding a comprehensive list of weapons that leave behind some kind of trail, be it a mist trail or footprints, has been kind of hard. Can anybody point me towards one? Specifically towards staves if possible.
The only one I know off the top of my head is the bifrost, and that is a bit beyond my budget.
I am on FoW and this matchup also takes me back many months to when we were constantly overrun. In truth I am not having fun this week, many months ago it would have been something I would just have to put up with and trudge through, but after the immense fun I have been having in wvw in recent weeks, I know it can be a much more enjoyable experience, and frankly I just don’t want to bother (It hasn’t stopped me from trying, but I feel like just walking away). Last week was great, neither server was particularly massive and “large” battles over keeps were in fact just small 10v10 drawn out skirmishes (Actual battles with tactics as opposed to just overrunning the opponent). We still have the same numbers at the best of times when there is a commander around to produce a small squad, but 10 vs 30+ is hardly an enjoyable experience and I can totally understand why most of our server seems to have just gone to rest for a week.

I feel that I have the perfect solution to 2 of the most common complaints about WvW: Population imbalance and queue times.
I think that players in long queue times should be given the option of mercing themselves out to less populated servers while they wait for a spot on their own server. This merc character would have a lower priority than players wishing to join their own servers wvw, and would be kicked out to make room; will never be told which server they are actually playing for, and will always be placed in the lowest populated wvw team so that all 3 always have roughly equal populations at all times, but will never be placed in their real worlds opposition.
This way, if a world is heavily populated, that world will always be comprised of members of that world, but instead of having to queue for what I hear can be several hours, you can go play other instances of wvw while you wait.
If a world is underpopulated and is constantly being steamrolled, the population would be boosted to somewhere near that of the opposition to give them a chance. If there was a sudden inrush of players from their own world later on in the day or if it is prime time, or the opponents population dropped the mercs would be sent to a different instance.
The mercs would automatically be transitioned back to their own world once it is their time in the queue. The team with the most of their world playing would still have the advantage, perhaps the mercs could be affected by mercenaries bane, and there is no threat of having regular players moved to their own world like the mercs would.
Perhaps there would have to be additional anti griefing measures put in towards mercs if this were implemented, but I do feel that this is the most direct method of solving server population inbalances in wvw.
I would like to agree, however, if it encourages more people to play wvw on our currently underpopulated server, I don’t have a problem.
I have found a set of keybinds that I am comfortable with and allows for comfortable movement even when casting. I still keep getting lost but I have decided to stick it out. I have also decided to stick with my current staff build until I am comfortable using the new layout before I move onto D/D so I can pull off combos more naturally.

I wonder if I can bind attunements to the mouse wheel. That would simplify things a lot. I don’t think other classes have to deal with this many keys >_>
Yeah. I use 1-5 as normal, WER are my movement, D for dodge, ASFG for attunements, ZXCV for utilities and elite, Q for heal, T for interact. But I find that even with that I have a tendancy to stand still while I focus on attunements and throwing out as many spells as I can as fast as possible >_> I am a terrible gamer.

I have realised that I don’t have the dexterity to even play this game. Let alone as a D/D elementalist. I honestly can’t figure it out. I don’t know if its because I am primarily a console gamer and I just get lost on the keyboard and im just dumb, or if its a GW2 thing. I mean every other D/D elementalist must have to deal with this so surely its not a problem, but maybe thats why I never see any.
As I said before I feel that I am a competant staff user, one hand on the mouse for ground casting, thumb on utility and attunement switches, fingers on weapon skills and occasionally take fingers off weapon skills to reposition.
How am I supposed to do all this while constantly moving? _
Maybe I have just forced myself into bad habit. I think the reason I ended up messing with the keys in the first place was because I couldn’t move from WASD to the F keys and move back again without getting lost.
Can you just give me a controller?
I have been playing as a staff ele for a long time. Ele is the only class I find appealing and I have spent a long time in wvw to become what I feel, very competent. Unfortunately, early on I found switching attunements to be very difficult using the F keys, and I rebinded my entire keyboard to facilitate changing elements with my thumb so I don’t have to take my fingers away from the attack and movement keys. This new control scheme now feels very natural, however I made a few oversights in the keybind and would at this point (It’s been more than 4-5 months) like to change back to the normal keyboard layout with only a few minor adjustments. (The truth is I would get confused when moving to any other game, as I don’t even use WASD movement anymore.)
I anticipate after making this change it is going to take more than a few days to adjust, however, at the same time, I am thinking of switching to a D/D build as I would like to see if I could be a decent damage dealer, and I would just like to switch things up a bit. In addition, I usually spend all of my time in wvw so while I am getting used to D/D and keybinds it could be quite hectic.
1: Does anyone have any suggestions for activities I could do, in wvw or anywhere else in the game, to adjust to a (drastically) new keybind?
2: Does anyone have any tips for elementalists moving to D/D from staff?

Account wvw level.
Fix the population of the servers; Vabbi for example has a totally miserable time in wvw, free transfer to Vabbi until they at least match their opponents server population would do them wonders and make it more fun for everyone. Also, as someone from fissure of woe, I don’t like being matched up against heavily populated servers, it just makes everyone on our server leave because its totally unfair when we barely have 15 players in our own borderlands and they are stomping around in a zerg of 30+
Oh and some kind of push to talk in game voice chat would be really good.

A boost to defense? You’ve never seen a defensive ele play then. They are insanely hard to kill.
I feel that I am a competent staff using ele, and I have carefully chosen traits to increase my survivability. I do feel that I am difficult to kill 1 on 1, however this comes at the expense of power and utility.
Playing as an ele is very involved, if you slip up or switch to the wrong element at the wrong time it can mean you die very quickly, the only reason I can stay alive as long as I do is because I focus on ensuring I am healed and only focus on attack when I am comfortable that I will not be gibbed in a couple of hits, and when I do attack, my attacks are usually intended for aoe support or a bit of control rather than straight up dps, and it often mean me and my opponent will get into a complete stalemate, unless they are really stupid, or a beserker, in which case I will just melt in a few hits.
Next time you face an elementalist that seems difficult to kill, take a look at their health bar. You will notice your attacks make a huge dent and they keep topping themselves up/avoiding attacks like their life depends on it, because it really does.
They have very minimal health and toughness, and to get the basic survivability afforded to other classes they have to pay for it. I agree that eles need more base defence or hp to allow a bit more switchup with traits, otherwise we are mostly shoehorned into specific builds. (Just for arguments sake, I have 15k health despite being specced as a bunker and max water trait for hp, and my attacks deal around 600 damage despite my armour being specced for extra power.)
Saying that though, aside from perhaps mesmer or thief I wont play another class. You are all too boring.
0/0/10/30/30: Cleric equips, although im transitioning into full celestial to see if it gives me some different trait options.

I am only level 58 on WVW however I feel that I have put a lot of effort into just ranking up this one character. I would like to feel that I had the option of using a different character. To be entirely honest, what I spend my points on would be exactly the same no matter what class I use, and since they take so long to earn I feel it is entirely pointless to have separate wvw ranks per character instead of account. I know you ruled it out, but any implementation less that that is still going to be hostile.
I play an Elementalist. It is very important that I know where my mouse pointer is at all times for ground targeting. Whenever things get really massively intense in wvw I always end up losing my mouse pointer and it is annoying. I was also hoping there was a way to make the pointer stand out more and pulse or something.
I am on FoW and it seems that this week we have been placed against Arborstone and Dzagonur, a similar situation has happened with us with most of us holed up in a single tower on our own borderlands or staying at the citadel while DE just stomps around.
I do have to say though last week was rather fun, even Vabbi seemed to be doing their thing. Battles felt like battles, but today things are all kinds of messed up.
This same thing has happened to me today. A small group of 4 or 5 all did it, I literally watched them do it because I found their position to be odd. I am replying now, months later, because I feel it is important to point out it has not been fixed AND is currently being actively exploited, and is easy to replicate. Not only did the enemy team know how to do it, but it also seems our team did too. Jerrifers is one of the towers closest to our keep. It is an important tower to hold and losing it is bad news, to lose it in such a manner while I was fully prepared to defend it on my own makes me mad.
Please fix it, I don’t want to play with cheaters.

Lag / Long Loading and Error: 7:11:3:189:101

My ISP is Sky, Manchester UK, and I did not have this problem this weekend, so it stands to reason that something occurred in the last couple of days. (I had some lag yesterday but its much worse today.)
I’ve also been getting frequent disconnects today, with the error code: 7:11:3:191:101. Which I have never experienced before today.
Attachments:
I would like to add that I am also having a rotten time trying to play GW2 at the moment due to unbearable lag, and today, disconnects. I have been running around the house trying to find anything that might be using up all my bandwidth only to find nothing.
For me, it has only been the last couple of days, but today it has been particularly bad as to make the game unplayable, so I came to see if it was me or the game, and I suspect it is the game since I have never had these problems before.
