Open world maps have all the endgame content I want, and that’s probably the case for quite a lot of players since most 80 lvl maps are packed full 24/7.

So since LS3 is starting soon and Pact is pretty much leaderless at this point, I’ve had this idea that maybe at some point the player character, already a Commander of the Pact could become the Leader, with all the benefits it brings. It would be pretty cool to have a sort of mini-metagame where you send Pact forces on various missions, wait a couple days or hours and collect rewards like materials or tokens, with some progression mechanics thrown in the mix. Oh and maybe finally implement some sort of housing, with customization of player instance in the city serving as a command centre or something. Yes I did play DA: Inquisition last months :P
What do you think?
I think that some people do not know or maybe forget that human beings have not only different reaction times and frustration threshold but also learn automated instinctual reactions at a different pace, so L2P deficiency is not simply a matter of laziness or spite as the ‘git gud’ bros often present it as.
I have a weird FPS bug too, it changes from 30 in 1st person mode to 15-10 in 3rd.
Raiders care about raiding and not much else, just another niche in the game. I can see someone simply not enjoying it and thus avoiding.
You got me back, GG Anet.
The only time that this is ever an issue is maybe if you are at a college or university dorm if this is the case then you need to contact that dorm admen and get the needed Ports forwarded.
Similar circumstances. As I said I contacted them but they won’t do it because idk why.
And I find it hard to believe that entire server infrastructure can be incompatible with some ISP and this is not considered an issue to be resolved. Who knows how many players dropped the game because of crashes.
(edited by Exit.5213)
It might be true that nothing can be done. I contacted support a year ago about this and in the end I was recommended to solve this with ISP. Sadly that couldn’t be done, even after ISP change issue prevailed, because in a bout of cosmic irony second ISP does things in a similar matter.
I have no problems with browsing, downloading or any other online game. Stable 3-5 Mb/s connection. Perhaps you’re mistaken somehow. That’s how it always worked here, I had over 5 ISP in 12 years. Look, I even went to the provider and asked him to open ports, and they said I couldn’t do that without second router.
Yet I’m certain it’s connection-related somehow because if I use VPN crash doesn’t occcur. That would be just fine with me to use it, but free VPNs have latency issues.
(edited by Exit.5213)
There exists an incredibly frustrating crash where your screen just goes completely black, you can still hear music, see the cursor and open option menu with a keybind. I know it can be fixed by opening ports 80, 443, and 6112, but this option is unavailable with some internet providers – and so for some people game is completely unplayable.
This is a request to fix this crash from gamedev side.
HoT difficulty level, nerf it to the ground

Everything is either expensive like a luxury or dirt cheap
New wvw borders, way too large and convoluted
-this expansion has no casual content.
-mobs on the new maps have inflated stats, normal mobs are stronger than veterans from old content and veterans are more powerful than champion mobs.
-lots of mobs have absurd abilities that instant kill. Some ranged frog mob dodges your attacks and shoots back at you at the same time. After 2 attacks you’re dead.
-most places on the new maps need a +3 man party to travel because they are full of veteran mobs(champion lv form old maps)
So true
I once liked this game – it’s a pity it turned out so wrong. Difficulty was skewed too high in HoT. I never quit a game because it’s too easy, but there’s a point where I quit a game because it’s too hard and that’s it. Insult me, I don’t care. People who wanted challenge have it now, everyone else you can look away now as GW2 wastes itself into obscurity.
It won’t waste into obscurity because it’s too hard for you. And there are people who have left this game because it’s too easy. The question becomes how many people are in each group.
Wait and see. It’s not like ‘you’ will lose profits if ANet made the wrong choice and I already found another MMO.

@Exit
You’re kind of missing my point.
I think, in most ways, we agree.
I’m just trying to point out that farming/grinding is PvE content – it’s just doing it in one place, doing the same thing over and over.
What if you could get exactly the same rewards by doing new content only (let’s say whatever it is you are farming for – be it gold or skins – you could acquire in the same amount of time, but you did it over a much larger area, effectively never repeating the same content twice?)
Now, that’t the OPPOSITE end of the extreme. Completing content only one time, and getting the same rewards that people who do it a thousands times get.
The game itself lies somewhere between that – but I don’t like the balance right now towards having to do the same content over and over.
I’d rather spend my time pushing the boundaries of the map and exploring new areas. That’s what I do – I’m an explorer.
I believe that people only “farm” content for rewards because this is the only way the game gives you to get those rewards.
Another way of putting this, I guess, is imagine if every time you ran a Dungeon Path, you got a guaranteed drop of one skin (and it was guaranteed to be a skin you didn’t have yet) from that boss (instead of a handful of tokens)?
What if every time you defeated Teq he dropped one of the unique Teq skins or items that only comes from him?
And, what if Anet actually devoted serious time and energy to constantly expanding the size of the world, both Open World and Dungeons, ensuring that there was a constantly new influx of content to farm?
One can dream.
One can also move on to another game, with fresh content.
Oh of course it would be awesome if we got more content, well… it’s been 2 years. I agree with you there. But I think it’s not necessary to up the drop chance so drastically. After all this is farming fluff, if we get all of the available fluff from let’s say Tequatl or fractals in a matter of week then there wouldn’t be much of a point to return to them. Less people would do those things over time which is not healthy in horizontal progression game.
Anet – Your Largest Playerbase are Explorers
I disagree. Largest playerbase are grinders and farmers. Whether it’s open world or dungeons – easy and profitable (hencefore enjoyable) places are the ones most crowded.
What this game needs is more open world zones like Cursed Shore. Big events, lots of mobs, lots of zerging, lots of loot!
But you have to ask yourself, why are they farming?
Presumably, to get gold.
And what does gold get you?
Gear. Gear to go and explore more.
You can play sPvP without ever buying any gear. But to do open world content (or dungeons – which I consider a kind of PvE content) you have to have gear.
Sometimes it’s for additional sets of armor. Sometimes it’s for legendary’s. And sometimes it’s just for skins.
Whatever the specific reason, the farmers/grinders are still doing PvE content so that they can continue doing PvE content.
Or, to put it another way – if more zones were opened that offered those same materials or gold rewards, they’d probably go and farm/grind those areas instead (just because they’re a ‘new’ area to farm/grind).
Or, to put it yet another way – if the game gave you those things (rewards) in sufficient quantities while you were doing whatever else it was that you wanted to do (explore) without having to farm/grind (repeat content) then that’s what you’d be doing.
What I’m getting at is this: farmers/grinders ARE PvE explorers – the one’s who’ve already explored everything, and are now accumulating whatever it is they think they need (gold) to get ready for the next regions to open up for exploration.
No one really, truly likes farming/grinding. The fact that people are doing it is indicative of game design.
What if those people got the same rewards by completing that content one time? Farming/grinding occurs because the game wants you to repeat content – because there simply isn’t enough content to keep everyone busy.
SO, there you have it: grinders/farmers are semi-retired PvE explorers, waiting for the next big thing to come out.
Sorry, but these are not “just” skins. Collecting skins is my main source of motivation to play this game at this point. I could hardly care less about gear stats, since I already have full ascended.
Basically what you claim is that Anet should focus even more on creating content you do once, and then are done with it. But that’s not all this game is about, I want SOMETHING to do in between story/explorer content releases. And that “something” that I surprisingly find quite fun is picking whichever activity I feel like doing, and then getting my time’s worth in gold – which can be broadly considered as farming.
EDIT: If I had found farming in this game an unfun chore, I’d quit even if there were carrots dangling at me from every direction, but it’s fortunately not the case. All I’m trying to propose is adding more maps with farming activites to add some variety to day to day life in Tyria.
EDIT2: Besides, do we even play the same game? There’s no need to “prepare” for new content. We’re all ready gear and stat-wise if we have exotic gear (which is not a problem to obtain). Farming/grinding is not forced, not mandatory. All those people are farming to buy their desired fluff items, namely skins or minis or whatever.

Spirit Crafter at least has a unique back item called Spirit Smith. Not much so far, but I haven’t discovered some of the other collections. So there’s one new skin for sure, and more kittentainly be added. Of course titles can be shown off too and there are some of those.
Spirit Smith is the only new addition related to the collections. Still, the Dwayna and Guardian collections do set a precedent; I expect more will be added with skins as a reward.
Are we even sure we know all the collections and rewards, since some are hidden and need to be discovered?
We’re sure because dulfy and wiki both have info about collection achievements that are currently bugged and cannot even be started.

People always think lots of loot will solve stuff. The only thing lots of loot brings is lots of inflation. Everything goes up in price and your gold is worth less.
Umm.. wouldn’t lots of loot (being items not coin) bring down prices as it increases supply? The only thing that works towards inflation is extra gold in the economy.
If the items aren’t worth anything, it’s not lots of loot. Worthless items aren’t what farmers are craving. Farmers are craving valuable items. I’m sure you’ve heard all the two blues and a green jokes.
it’d take a whole hell of a lot more t6 mats flowing into the market to change them from valuable to the likes of blues/greens. Even these farms they keep nerfing aren’t enough to truly combat the steady price increase we see on them.
And in either case it’d still have NOTHING to do with inflation if we’re talking Loot and not strait coin drops.
I agree with Jeyrus. Adding more level 80 areas with enjoyable farming events that provide chance to obtain T6 mats and other widely sought after materials would be healthy for economy, as it would provide a viable endgame alternative to dungeon farming (which is the main cause of inflation) for many players. It would also add longevity and replayability in areas at which Guild Wars 2 excel (dynamic open world events). No longer would a player log in and think “there’s nothing to do for me”.

Here are my updates.
Gathering
- Increased the amount of gathering nodes, especially the T6 ones
- Gathering nodes of all levels can be found in every single map
- There is only one material of gathering tool left per type (sickle, axe and pick)
- There is no level requirement for those tools
Dungeons
- Heroes were added to assist you in dungeons. Now you can finish the dungeon by yourself.
- The amount of tokens required for armor and weapons is decreased, so that every run should give you at least one item.
- Dungeon tokens can be used to buy precursors as well.
Loot and crafting
- Fine materials now always is an extra drop and the drop rate has been increased. The same goes for rare materials.
- Salvaging armor or weapons will return all materials that were required to make it.
- The mystic forge recipes have been tweaked so that the change for an upgrade has been increased dramatically.
- All time constraints have been removed from crafting ascended items.
- All time constraints have been removed from charging crystals.
- Soulbound and accountbound have been removed.
All of this stuff would actually make the game better, not worse.
1. Increased gold gain from completing a dungeon path.
2. Difficulty of various fractal encounters has been adjusted to appease Wildstar playerbase.
3. Adjusted all Cursed Shore events to spawn overpowered champions with antizerg abilities.
4. Increased ammount of client-server communication during large group battles in WvW. Upgrade your PC or lag even more.
5. New feature: open world PvP – because that’s a thing apparently nowadays. Enjoy your gank!.
6. Various group events in low level areas have been adjusted to spawn hordes of damage-sponge veterans and elites. But no worries, there’s a [Carrot] dangling at the end!
I leveled fresh engi to about 30’s and I think new leveling mechanics and feature gating are quite OK so far. Definitely not as bad as doomsayers and haters claim. Most of the stuff gets unlocked in first few hours anyway.
I’d like to see open world content carrying this game instead of another dungeon/raiding PvE. Agreed that PvP could get some more love.
Oh, maybe I’ll check it out, afk a bit around the box. Haven’t been able to play SAB yet, so it would be nice if it finally reopened – I’ve been waiting for it for a looong time.
Best of luck to #OccupySAB2014!
I have also encountered this bug. Crafted first backpiece last week, put the seed in bank. Now I have Pet Seed instead of Cultivated Seed.
As it is now unable to craft new backpiece. I have prepared other 3 pieces required to craft it.
I will try with host address, and if it doesn’t work I’ll probably file a ticket. Thanks for help!
A bit more info. I also get occasional disconnect when trying to go to character selection screen. Error code: 7:11:1:525:101.
Also attaching excerpts from -diag log.

Since I’m all out of options I decided to post this here. For the past month I’ve been having issues with probably the most annoying variation of game error ever conceived. At various, completely random moments (but most often in open world and wvw) a black screen pops up and I’m unable to continue gameplay. Simultaneously to this an UI sound plays out (i think the “event pop up” one). Then the only option I have is to Alt+F4, since the only thing I’m able to do is to marvel at the wonders of black color, move cursor around and listen to still playing music.
I’ve tried to troubleshoot this on my own… and, well. This seems to be a network related problem, like split-second disconnect or something. Problem definitely does not lie in my laptop, since I put a fresh install on another computer using the same network and problem still occurs (!).
I’m unable to bypass my router on this. I did all that I could… Disabling firewall on router, port forwarding, checking if firmware needed update, setting public DNS. If there’s anything else I can do on my end, please tell me. I could really use some help at this point, so thanks in advance.
Dry Top seems to be extremely taxing due to ammount of high detailed environment and verticality of the map, so at any point it’s at least twice as straining as maps coming with inital release.
Game could really use some option to toggle fog and lower view distance for those of us playing on subpar equipment.
I’m getting stable 30-25 FPS on medium settings while exploring let’s say.. Brisban or Mount Maelstrom. FPS drop when zerg goes all out is fair play, but here in Dry Top nothing straining is really happening and FPS is constantly around 15 FPS, even less sometimes.

Using laptop which is already more than 4 years old. Go figure ^^

The only remotely random thing in the fight is Cosmic Rift pull. Rest is just a pattern of attacks that you need to learn, and a boss that could be easier for you if you changed your build and traits. I know I probably didn’t have to spend 40g + 200k karma to beat her, but it really made the fight less frustrating to respec for condi. No need for nerf whatsoever.
As much as I dislike HP scaling of latest LS bosses (LA, Boss Blitz) I see no flaw in Queen’s Gauntlet arena fights.
(edited by Exit.5213)
I decided to post just one thing about this release.
I -HATE- Boss Blitz. Not even increased reward ratio will make me suffer this atrocity again. Whoever thought up this antizerg scaling should be fired immediately. If you want people to split up think of a better way to do it.
And you happy elitists from whatever megaguild you’re in you can have your gold farm, i don’t care. I clearly have no literal chance of finding any reasonable coordinated overflow anyway, and I can’t join you on the fun because my smaller guild has 24h represent policy.
Pls Anet, never again. Never again use this sort of antizerg mechanic.
To put it simple, Taidha Covington event’s difficulty is set too high – or it doesn’t scale well. For 2 attempts one failed on pre (didn’t take down gate on time), and the second was a fail at 50% boss hp.
People won’t bother with doing it the way it is now. Waste of time and effort.
I suffered from similar problem, at first my workaround was to set texture details to low, and character detail to lowest.
But to solve out of memory crashes once for all on 32 bit system, as long as you have 4 GB of RAM memory you need to get your Windows PAE-patched. It’s an unofficial fix to allow 32 bit systems to use more than 3,25 GB RAM. You sure are doing it at your own risk, and installation is a bit more than 1-click to go, but in my opinion it’s worth it. After doing this I haven’t had an out of memory crash ever since.

I’m quite curious how “Living” will this World turn out to be by the end of Season 1.
If even half of the stuff you expect from this update gets implemented, i’ll be impressed.
a good summary of the living world story?

GuildMag has decent recap up to Origins of Madness.

I’m still kinda hoping that Scarlet is just sidekick/agent of an Elder Dragon. Would have preferred the established factions and groups to realise their own agenda, rather than simply serve as a plot resource for Villain-of-the-Season.
Seeing how there are exactly 3 pillars on each map it gave me impression of having something to do with triangulation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangulation
Also, I consider notable that none of the pillars are present in starter zones (1-15 lvl).
