Having exclusively played PvE for almost two years, I have decided to make a foray into PvP.
I am looking for a sPvP focused guild that is willing to accept a relatively inexperienced player. I am looking for an environment in which I can learn but not necessarily be taught. I have access to Voice Chat only on the weekends but besides that, no other technical limitations. I will try to be as active as my schedule permits. I’m not aiming to be a tournament class player but play PvP well enough to rise above the frustration and have some close satisfying matches . In PvE, I main ele but in what little PvP I’ve done, I’ve preferred warr.
I was watching a a video of an elementalist soloing AC P1.
They were using FGS 3 and 4 to instantly one shot a burrow in the first scepter room. I tried messing around with it but couldn’t get close. Does it need to be used in a particular place or with particular settings to work, or have they nerfed it?

Let me start of by saying that I’ve never theorycrafted in this game before and I mostly play pugs in PvE.
I noticed that ele’s have a lot of ways to apply burning with D/F, which was my favorite playstyle before patch. So, to that effect:
I pretty much took every single trait that affects burning in some way in Fire
Rabid gear with strength of stone to buff up conditions and Air to reduce recharge on Firestorm which was my main source of burning.
After playtesting, I saw some big numbers add up but I have no idea what it means in terms of DPS.
I’m sure I’m not the first person to try something like this so I wanna ask if such a build is viable. I understand its not optimal but can I get comparable results to the Staff build?
What’s the best range and place to cast burning speed from?
I’ve seen do solid burst to almost negligible damage. I try to cast it such that I end up at the target at the end but sometimes that completely misses and does nothing except some burning.

I’ve been completely out of touch with the game for nearly a year now, but now that I can play again, I’m clueless about any meta changes that have happened.
Reading the patch notes didn’t give me any idea about what its actual effect was. So, if anyone could summarise the changes in viability I can expect in the class from a PvE standpoint, I’d be grateful.
