Hey guys, I stopped playing about a month ago and I logged in to see the new event and been playing since the start of it. I went to frostgorge sound and I found some very peculiar players:
They were in the middle of a small island in frostgorge sound, all naked… fighting monsters. On a cold island. Naked. They had normal nicknames with guild tags and they were all different, there was a charr, a asura and some humans.
At first I tought “wow, these guys are insane xD, fighting monster on an cold island without any clothes”, but then I remembered hearing something about bots and after watching them for a while I realised they were doing some weird stuff. So… if bots are like that, isn’t it just really easy to perma ban the account of the person doing this kind of thing? I mean, just check his IGN and BAM, perma ban. It’s not like a F2P where they can just make another account and keep botting…
When I played there weren’t any bots and I don’t know much about how A-net is handling that situation… so I have some questions:
What’s the current player base?
How many people are using bots?
Are bots ruining the economy?
Are bots ruining the game in a general way?
What a-net said about the bots?
Is the game dying?
Feel free to answer any of those questions and I will be happy if you do.
P.S: I still don’t understand how hard it could be to just perma-ban(or even ban for a good amount of time) an account on a P2P game, where people can’t just create another one and move on… I don’t even know why people bot when they can’t just go away safely(or can they? Idk, answer my questions and lets discuss it). I mean, I paid 120 reais(that is 60 dollars) for this game and that’s not cheap, I would never do anything to have my right to play it removed… The only reason I could think of people botting on a P2P game, where they only have 1 account(cmon, if the person had more than 1 account, do you really think he/she would be using bots?) is because they know they won’t be banned, or won’t be damaged in any way.
A video would be nice
, but thanks for the pic anyway.
My main is a lv. 80 guardian, with full Cleric gear, cleric weapon and cleric accessories, 0/0/10/30/30 trais, supportive utilites(wall,hallowed ground, save yourselves,etc and when these aren’t needed, signets) and staff/mace+focus. I’m not sure. I’m not sure if am a good support, or I could help my team better by playing differently, what I can say tho, is that if you look at your teammate’s HP bar top left, you’ll notice THE DIFFERENCE it makes to have a dedicated healers/support character in your group.
It really depends on situations, like those totems on Orr, where the wall is really useful, or against that little mob of archers on AC… I’ve had supportive elementalists in my group and it really does make a difference when people care if you gonna live or not… I can’t tell you if it’s better or worse because that’s how I’ve been playing since the headstart….
Another thing, this isn’t a good setup for PvE in general(map completion, jumping puzzles,etc), nor it is for WvW, this is purely focused on dungeons. But in the end, it’s what eveningstar said, if you have a bad team, you are going to do bad, and if you have a good team, you gonna do good, GW2 is not that MMO where someone carries the damage, or the healing… if everyone heals a little, and damage a little, it really doesn’t matter… but yeah, I would like to see the perspective of someone who played both “roles”, damage and support, because I’m thinking that a hybrid build would be better, like a staff/hammer or GS build with offensive and supportive traits/utilities.
I think it’s way better than before, I hated to have to drag all the materials to discover something, and now it’s simple, all the mats are there. If you don’t want to make lower level recipes just ignore the lower level mats. I’m a 400 artificer btw, and it’s great for discovering potions.
Well, for people here saying that it’s cheaper to just buy the gear, I did the math.
I used the Cleric Heavy gear set. For that set of gear you will need:
(Keep in mind all the prices here are the prices of the TP of 18/09 and the materials needed are taken from gw2db.com)
x74 Gossamer Scrap = 3g50s
x30 Glob of Ectoplasm = 7g21s
x13 Spool of Gossamer Thread(Stack) = 83s
x30 Elaborate Totem = 3g
x32 Orichalcum Ore = 87s
Total = 15g41s
Now let’s take at how much you would have to pay for the gear:
Cleric’s Draconic Pauldron = 3g17s
Cleric’s Draconic Boots = 3g20s
Cleric’s Draconic Legs = 3g36s
Cleric’s Draconic Coat = 3g40s
Cleric’s Draconic Gauntlet = 3g19s
Cleric’s Draconic Helm = 3g5s
Total = 19g82s
So, assuming that you are lv 80, 400 Armorsmith and you have 20g to buy/make your gear, if you look at the math, you could save 4g and 41s by making the gear, but if you are lv 80 and 400 armorsmith at this point, you probably didn’t leveled your profession by farming mats, in other words, bye bye profit.
So what’s the point here? The point is, it’s only worth to make your gear if you can level your profession to 400 by spending only 4g and 41s(or something like that). Although, if you can level it by farming, it’s better to just buy the mats and make your gear.
(Keep in mind I’m using the cleric gear as an example, prices for other types of gear may vary).
Well, the conclusion might be useless, but I’ll leave it here if anyone wanna know how much does it cost to make/buy your own Cleric gear.
