I’m a little concerned about the beginning of a gear treadmill here as well, especially because of the wording here, bold mine:

some of the rarer Ascended items will also feature a new Infusion slot that will make players even more powerful so that they can tackle new challenges that ArenaNet plans to throw at them as they continue to expand on the dungeon over the coming months and years.

That’s pretty much the definition of gear grind. I’m wondering if it was put that way simply because the site is used to talking about that kind of gear treadmill for other games, but on the other hand, they’ve done a lot of reporting on GW2, so they are familiar with the design philosophy.

I’m just wondering now if that design philosophy has changed. I’m hoping some of the devs may pop in here and give some clarification.

I was hoping that this would be a cycling event, like the GW1 events that occur every 3 hours. So this is only a one-time deal?

I noticed that this only happens when you have the Focused Rituals trait equipped. I used Well of Corruption for a while without Focused Rituals and noticed the change after I built into this trait. If you switch Focused Rituals out, it changes back to the proper image.

@iniquix that is a common problem, and getting bronze medals after 10 minuts of condition spamming on World Bosses too.

I’ve experienced this as well. I assume it’s a side effect of the condition capping, but considering that’s what I’m built for, in the large events where the 25 stack is hit pretty quickly, I end up feeling pretty ineffectual.

It was quite disappointing to end up with no medal at all after being there for the entire fight against Tequatl the Sunless, when my Elementalist guildmate ended up with gold, despite getting to the fight late, after he was down to 25% health. :/

I actually unlocked the avatar of Grenth on my necromancer, and after using it once (literally) I never used it again. Maybe it was my mistake that instead of checking how this particular skill works I decided to unlock it straight away. I hoped it will be something more like the avatars from GW, and boy was I upset when it actually turned out to be less powerful combo of Plague and Death Shroud.
I really feel I wasted those 10 skill points. It would be nice if the avatar at least looked cool…

I’m a Human Necromancer and seeing as the other options I have as a Nec are much better, I pretty much never use this skill. I know that they have balanced the racials to not be overpowered so that there’s not a significant racial advantage for any one race, and in light of that, I at least was hoping for something visually flashy.

Aesthetically, I can barely tell the difference between it and Death Shroud. :/
