I don’t think people are disapponted because the rewards are no expensive items or tons of gold or sth., but because it’s nothing unique or at least wvw-related.
I’ve read about ideas like a special dye or maybe a skin to choose… (for everybody) something a bit unique to remember that you were part of wvw s1. I think those ideas would have made people happy because this stuff would have been somehow useful. We got a mini, but… meh…
The other stuff all crap, but especially GREEN items… i mean… Come on… that really felt like trolling players… the whole reward felt like something between getting nothing and an asskick.
After weeks of waiting i was at least hoping for a special skin or another surprise or sth. Opening the chest really felt like a bad joke for a 7-week WvW reward.

- 100 Dragonite Ore, Some WXP, 5 Skillpoints – You can farm this in 1-2 hours
- 3 green items… – i am speechless

Highlight was 80 RS chasing my 40 guys from north most supply camp all the way to north bay gate, only for GoD to be waiting and then we trained through them in the choke, i think 4 of our guys died XD

I’ve been there too. We were far FAR FAR FAAAR away from being 80 ppl. It was some [VU] guys and some randoms… We asked why you constantly ran away (also in many situations before) because we had somewhat even numbers.
Anyway, keep on running, you’re good in it… but SRSLY L-E-A-R-N to count…

Haha, great vid! Next to your tanky warrior, it was especially nice to see that mesmer performing perfectly in the “support theme”… as he should do no harm, because he can support allies so well! Our Mantras gonna own everything!!!

To stay in line with the support theme, we wanted to find ways the Mesmer could support allies. We looked at Mantras, and just didn’t feel they were quite strong enough to do this, so we made some improvements.

for me personally it feels like my guardian f. ex. is much more better in supporting allies then my mesmer. Ok, my mesmer has portal and veil… but… that’s it. The definition for a mesmer is “portal and veil” atm.
They crippled mesmers the last patches so much that they now are calling it “support theme”…
Don’t take me too serious, a bit joking… but srsly… MANTRAS… MEH! MEH!
…“support theme”… take portal and veil from mesmers and you can cut them out of the game.
BUT YEAH… Warriors need improvements of shouts… lol… the only class that doesn’t need any improvements are warriors. But these are just all my personal opinions.

WE DID WORLD 2 ZONE 2 A FEW MINUTES AGO!!! WUHUUUU!!!
Zone 2 is very long… 7 waypoints or something. It took us 3-4 hours of really concentrating and playing. The traps didn’t end. Did it with 6 coins.
MAN, THAT WAS HARD!!! W2-3 TOMORROW!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!
I would also prefer to have to do real game content to earn a legendary, cool, rare quests for example and stuff like that. I think everyone who wants a legendary should work for it, and not just buying precursors and all requireded mats from auction house.
I also believe the high prices for precursors are because of illegal gold sellers and the amount of stuff you can buy for your legendary. People go crazy when it’s about “status symbols” like legendaries in games.
It’s right, too much gold involved in the process… make it less gold and farming dependent.
Earning a legendary should be a real story-driven gameplay adventure, and no buying and farming adventure.
I wouldn’t say illegal gold sellers. I mean I saw those posts a lot in /map at launch, but in the past 3-5 months I think I’ve only seen 1-3 gold farmers posting (I think one even whispered anyone that wp’ed in) and everyone else in map (along with myself) just talked about reporting them. I’m not saying there aren’t any, but it feels that way.
sry, but it’s really not about mails or spam you see ingame. There are well-known pages where you can (illegal) buy gold for every current MMO and it’s a massive booming industry.
The prices went so high because people were able to pay these high prices and stuff was sold overpriced… and pretty sure that most of this stuff was bought with illegal gold bought for real money frome these pages. Sellers recognized that people were buying stuff for crazy prices and so prices went even higher.
What? This is kittened. Why should a player using one handed weapons be allowed +10 stats and +10 Agony resist when a two hand player be given +5.
This provides a serious disadvantage to certain classes and set-ups, in particular in fractals. I would expect that for 1h weapons only 1 infusion would work, otherwise it’s a huge imbalance.

Hehe… just from reading i realize how many of you have problems fighting mesmers and just hate them. You guys basically say:
MESMERS DESERVE NOTHING… NOOOOTHING THAN NERFS NERFS NERFS!!! CLONES EVERYWHEERE! CUT MESMERS OUT OF THE GAME… THEN THIEVES… THEN ELES… right?
hahaha Go roll mesmer and play some time in wvw for example. It will help you a lot fighting them with your main cchar. Rly… learn sth. and get used to the class!
But back to topic:
Best ideas so far: Make Compounding Celerity a slight speed buff and i had a good idea: Make it a 15% Speed Buff and REDUCE speed for every ACTIVE CLONE by 5%. So with 3 clones up you would have no speed buff and incombat everything is the same as it is now.
Or i still like the idea of Chaos Armor granting swiftness ooc (10-15sec or so). You would waste your chaos armor every time and missing it incombat maybe. Good compromise i think.
Both wouldn’t make mesmer OP and just hlp them in getting around a littlbe bit faster or getting to their commi and stuff.

GS doesn’t have a speed increase. The #3 skill is not a speed buff and can be considered the equivalent of a short kinda uncoordinated blink.
It’s not a given boon, like swiftness, but it is very helpful in moving around. It’s a very fast psuh forward. Uncoordinated?? – No… it’s coordinated… in fact it is very much same as a mesmers blink (but no stunbreaker), with slightly lower distance, but also much lower cooldown (and you can even get 20% lower cooldown on any 2H-weapon and 20% lower cooldown on shouts). I played guardian many many hours in wvw and find gs#3 skill great for moving around and stuff. But maybe it’s personal taste. See it as warrior skills “rush” or “whirlwind attack”. These are also no direct boons, but great for moving around. Mesmer has no such movements.
The only way a Guardian can even come close to perma speed buff is to have TWO shouts as utility skills (Retreat and Save Yourselves! both of which have limited application in WvW) and have a staff equipped and rotate those skills constantly. Even then you won’t have perma-speed buff.
That’s right, My guardian is far away from perma speed buff… but i, personally, have never asked for perma swiftness… i just want the mesmer also to have maybe options like “rush”, “leap of faith” and so on… nothing OP for combat or sth… just some small options for getting around a bit faster. I like the idea for an out-of-combat speed buff on Chaos Armor for example which grants you swiftness only when you are not in coobat. So you would have to “waste” Chaos Armor (high cooldown) if you want speed and maybe missing the Chaos Armor in combat then. In combat, it should give no speed.
I agree that mesmers should have more sources for swiftness or increased movement speed (in WvW).
- with my Warrior or Thief… no comment, i can outrun everything, escape everything and so on. No discussion for me here.
- on my Guardian i have always equipped “retreat”, sometimes playing with staff (symbol of swiftness), or i also use my Greatsword skills for faster movement (leap of faith). There’s always a good source for faster movement with good duration and CD’s.
- with my Necro (haven’t played him a while) i’ve also had always a good source (25% signet), spectral walk (30 secs or so!!!) or used a horn. Always good speed for long duration.
My Mesmer (my main)… has effectively NOTHING… so what i did: Used Runes of Centaur on my Power-Build Setup. That’s the best source of swiftness a Mesmer can get, but you always have to activate your healskill for that (Not that big problem). The bigger problem: it’s only useable on Power Builds. The other source is focus, but switching weapons is not an option for me. You’ll often get infight with wrong weapon setup.
So, i play mainly a Condition mesmer and yeah… compared to nearly all other classes i feel like a snail… if there is no mate who grants you swiftness… OMG… put autorun on and go afk..
So, here are my suggestions:
1) ADD A NEW RUNE, conditon rune with swiftness on healing, like the Centaur Rune, just for conditon setups.
2) Add a new skilltree in the WvW-Rank XP System for increased speed in WvW. 5 Tiers (5% / 10%/ 15%/ 20%/ 25%). Everyone would benefit from that, but this would also make some signets useless in WvW f. ex.
3) Maybe give Chaos Armor guaranteed swiftness with good duration. If you don’t like it, maybe make it an out-of-combat skill…
I don’t want something to make Mesmer OP or bla bla bla, just getting around a little bit faster in WvW. (Condition) Mesmer is really slow.

i’ve played a confusion mesmer for the most time, but now that confusion got nerfed so hard, i decided it was time for something different. Here is what i came up with:

I use him mainly for WvW and Dungeons. Works great, feels like a beast. What i had in mind for that build was to add high survivability but also great damage. Note the 2800+ armor (with staff, -50 toughness with other weapons), also some extra vitality. In WvW with bonus always 17000+ HP. In the picture you see him fully buffed (mainly +power). Also crit chance is great (unbuffed ~44/45%).
summary (buffed):
Attack: 3745
Crit: 48%
Armor: 2813
HP: 16362
Crit dmg: 150+38=188%
(with staff, without infusions)

Hey,
here is my attempt to get the unbreakable choir.
I opened 1000 giant wintersday gifts (with 80% magic find, dunno if it helps). I had no luck… i think at this point i’ll stop go farming for the choir, it’s to hard to get. But ok,
super rare items are super rare… got it… and it’s only a choir… a super-duper awesome unbreakable choir. :’(
I still have the bells left, that keeps ringing in my head everyday.
